[...] These were triggered, I believe, as I looked over Seth’s material on counterparts in Volume 2 of “Unknown” Reality, and by his material on my Roman captain life in the same period, as he gave it in the deleted session for Sept. [...]

[...] I asked that Seth possibly comment tonight. [...]

(“Good evening, Seth.”)

(“Thank you very much, Seth.”)

(Jane was very pleased now that Seth’s book was firmly under way after so many delays. [...]

[...] I told her that in my opinion the material tonight represented her and Seth at their best — and that it also had a deceptive simplicity. [...]

[...] I was just finishing my notes when Jane took off her glasses and resumed speaking for Seth. [...]

[...] Seth-Jane’s pace was rather slow.)

(As Seth-Jane delivered this material, my mind flashed back many years to a summer day when I was about eleven years old. [...]

[...] She was eager to have me read Seth’s material back to her, but then: “Oh, wait a minute… I’m already starting to get more, and I want to get up and move around first.” [...]

(I sat with my eyes closed momentarily, and Seth caught me.

[...] As I massaged her with Oil of Olay I told Jane that I’d stopped giving her body specific suggestions—say, that a hand could open up—because according to Seth’s material the body had its own order and schedule for showing improvements, and I’d become wary of giving suggestions that might conflict with that schedule. I suggested asking Seth about this tomorrow—a good question, I think. [...]

(“Good afternoon, Seth.”)

(I felt a great sadness when Seth delivered this sentence.)

(I told Jane that Seth’s opening line for Chapter 2, about possessing a group of attitudes toward oneself and toward life, at birth, runs directly counter to establishment theory that the newborn is like a blank slate, to be imprinted through teaching and experience. [...]

(“But Seth was right,” she told me. [...]

[...] Her voice wasn’t as strong when she spoke for Seth, and in the beginning she’d utter a couple of words at a time and then pause noticeably. [...]

[...] She seemed to be a little more comfortable, now that her birthday and Mother’s Day are past — factors, Seth said, that contributed to her discomfort.)

[...] She could feel Seth trying to get the material through without overloading her, she could feel him trying to get her to use the right words. It was as though, she said, Seth was stretching her brain in an effort to get the material through.

[...] We spent the time remaining before the session was due in discussing the flash Jane had received from Seth, concerning her dream about Miss C., and then in sitting quietly for a few minutes.

(“Seth, why did Miss Callahan tell us back in early December that she didn’t know, or at least remember, Frank Watts?”

(Indeed, Jane and I had both been strongly aware that Seth was evidently doing something with respect to time, during the last few sessions. [...]

(By 8:50 Jane said, “I sort of feel Seth around, but I don’t know what he’s going to talk about.” [...] At 8:58 she had received Seth’s greeting; but she held him off until 9 PM.

[...] At 9:33, Seth interrupted break to deliver the following through Jane:)

[...] She said that with this kind of material Seth has to open her up more than usual to get it through, that he gets her into a conceptual framework state of mind.

(I now also was curious to see if distortion cropped up, since Seth had dealt with this problem in the 36th session to some extent. [...]

1. Jane rather surprised me: I knew she had an interested if generalized awareness of the old theory of the ether (or the luminiferous ether), but I hadn’t realized she was well-enough acquainted with the idea to be able to verbalize it that succinctly for Seth. [...]

2. Note 13, for Appendix 18 in Volume 2 of “Unknown” Reality, contains excerpts from one of the sessions Seth has given on the inner self-conscious self.

(Jane has been back on a regular schedule of psychological time now for a while, on the restricted twenty-minute schedule set by Seth. [...]
