2. I underlined the word story (like this) in Seth’s material just to remind the reader that the Christ figure symbolizes our idea of God and his relationships. According to Seth, the man we call Jesus Christ was actually composed of three individuals who were the physical manifestations of the same nonphysical entity: John the Baptist, St. Paul, and a man historically known as Christ. [...] Seth discussed the Christ story in various passages in The Seth Material and Seth Speaks, and has at least touched upon it in all of his succeeding books.

(In Note 1 for the 817th session, which was held on January 30, I wrote that Sue Watkins had recently delivered the last of the typed manuscript for Seth’s The Nature of the Psyche. [...]

[...] I thought the material excellent, however, with plenty of “bite” to it. [...]

(As Seth states, Jane did have a dream about the idea the following night, September 11,1963. [...] As mentioned many, many sessions ago, however, her poem The Fence, written in May 1963, clearly foreshadows the Seth material, dealing with [but not always by outright name] such subjects as reincarnation, dreams, unperceived worlds, etc. [...]

[...] Howard wanted to look at some paintings, and of course some conversation ensued involving the new director at the gallery, who was discussed by Seth in the 74th session.

[...] Jane was fully dissociated; so much so, she said, that she hadn’t followed the material at all, and had no idea whether it was any good or not.

[...] Seth’s material upon resumption stems from the fact that Jane, housecleaning lately, had switched our bed from a north-south axis to east-west. [...]

[...] My fourth question asked for the content of the horizontal lettering mentioned by Seth. Seth named both horizontal lettering and red before in the data. [...]

(Before the session Jane said she had no idea of what Seth would talk about. [...]

(“Good evening, Seth.”

(In his radio and TV tours, Richard offered to mention The Seth Material and Seth Speaks, to help boost sales. This besides asking his editor to read Jane’s material.)

[...] He called Jane last Friday from his home in Bridgehampton, New York; he wanted some insights into his writing of Seagull; Richard attended ESP class last night, and heard Seth, Sumari, etc. [...]

(“Good evening, Seth.”

It is therefore no coincidence that Richard was a student of Nebene’s, and the material on the reincarnational aspects (that Jane gave in ESP class last night) is quite correct. [...]

[...] The connection is obvious, for he knows that the Seth Material comes from the same system as the voices. Here he reaches out to turn the radio off and gets a shock; the shock is his realization that the Material itself would cease were he to shut off his abilities. [...]

Whether or not Seth actually spoke to Sue in the dream is beside the point here. [...] It’s possible, of course, that Sue’s unconscious adapted an authority figure to get the information about aggression through with greater impact, using Seth as a figurehead. (If you want to believe that Seth is an unconscious production of mine, then you must admit he lends himself rather well to the unconscious purposes of others and possesses a reality to them quite independent of his relationship to me. [...]

I came into Rob and Jane’s apartment and walked into a Seth session. [...] Seth (as Jane) turned toward me at once. [...]

[...] Seth came through several times, delivering beautifully organized little dissertations to Dr. Guy on how he might relax enough to allow the psychic signs that he’s so interested in to come through. [...] We didn’t use one either, and so for the first time in a long while Seth’s material disappeared as rapidly as it was given—an odd experience for us. Seth also discussed with Dr. Guy the practice of, and the motivations behind, the art of magic. And in return for Seth speaking, Dr. Guy staged his own little magic show for Jane and me—to our amazement and intense interest—as the three of us sat around the living-room table.

As Jane commented afterward, LeRoy Guy said not a single word to us about his reaction to Seth, although I’d watched him pay the same rapt attention to that personality as had many others. [...] For that matter, we hadn’t even asked him exactly what Dr. Camper wanted him to find out about Jane and Seth—or even me. [...]

(And, of course, recording the thousands of pages of the Seth material in my meticulous way for over 20 years surely reflects a large portion of the Nebene psyche: keeping his own “purified” translations of ancient records.)

[...] Yet Seth’s Nebene rings true—even including my relationship with Jane way back then.)

[...] On some occasions therefore his fears, and defense of you, would prevent excellent material, and at other times his fierce defense of himself would prevent it.

(Seth has suspended dictation on his book for the last five weeks. [...] Of the four regular sessions held in the remaining time, large portions dealt with matters growing out of the September 4th publication of Jane’s own book, The Seth Material, and a projected radio and television tour.

(Jane told me that “at the tail end of the session,” she had picked up this idea from Seth; I could tape a session, and while it was in progress I would be free to do a series of sketches of her speaking for Seth. [...] Jane was sure the idea came from Seth. [...]

(“Good night, Seth, and thank you.” [...] In the latter part of the session l had been able to easily sense the immediacy of Seth’s presence.

(Now that we could relax a little, however, we had every confidence that Seth would easily resume work on Chapter Eleven of his book, even though Jane hasn’t looked at it for quite a while now. [...]

10:26 P.M. I told Jane that the session is another excellent one, “I do believe he’s going to go on with that material,” she said. I hope so, for it appears that Seth is far from carrying his discussion through to the subject of reincarnation. [...]

After supper Jane said that Seth might talk about reincarnation, schizophrenia, and possession, tying those subjects together. [...]

(Whispering: “Good evening, Seth.”)

(Seth’s material on page 204 agreed with what I had learned myself by using the pendulum, both today and earlier in the week. [...]

[...] Tonight I asked Jane if Seth would discuss the Instream object that ordinarily would have been named Monday.

(“Good evening, Seth.”)

[...] I explained it to Jane at break and hoped Seth would comment as to any clairvoyant elements in the dream.

[...] After she finished the reading, I began reading the old sessions to her—just the Seth material portions. [...] When I’d arrived she had over her the cloth sent her by Reudi Anner’s group from the Seth conference in Geneva, Switzerland. [...]

1. There isn’t any such word as incalculatable, of course, but that’s what Jane came through with as she spoke for Seth. [...] Seldom indeed does she make such slips while delivering the Seth material—much less often than any of us may do in daily life.

(With emphasis, while Billy slept curled up against my left elbow as I sat on the couch writing down Seth’s material:) Animals know that their own lives spell out life’s meaning. [...]

[...] I did have a question for Seth now—one made up of a number of questions, actually, and another one of my favorites. [...] It grows out of Seth’s philosophy, obviously, yet it also reflects my own, and concerns man’s attempts to both fight and grasp his heritage. [...]

2. Seth referred to a question I periodically ask Jane, but seldom discuss with others simply because they don’t seem to be interested: What’s happened to all of the Rembrandts? [...] To link the “great masters” with our species’ reincarnational intents and drives, as Seth mentions in this session, opens up a new field for understanding my question, and a very large and intriguing one indeed.

(Since Seth gave us the material on therapeutic dreams last Wednesday, I began suggesting that I would experience one, as I was in a bad mood generally speaking and had been for a week; also I felt poorly with aches and pains etc.; nothing serious but annoying.

[...] Now I got out of bed [in the dream], went into Rob’s room and found that another radio sat on the bookcase where the Seth material is kept, and that the voices were coming from this radio also. [...]

(The session began ordinarily enough, but before long an interaction between Rich and Seth began to show. Seth’s pace also speeded up considerably, and I began to fall behind. But more than this, words cannot really record the very humorous exchange that developed between Rich and Seth. I saw Jane, as Seth, laugh herself far more than ever before in trance. Seth did most of the talking as usual; and more and more his attention became riveted upon Rich as the latter buzzed around, taking photo after photo, with flash. [...]

[...] We wanted the photos for Jane’s book on the Seth material, which is now practically finished. [...]

(Rich was half embarrassed and half serious; at the height of the exchange between the two, Seth’s addresses to Rich were so fast I couldn’t hope to record them. After pictures were over, Seth also returned several times to answer some of Rich’s questions. The session itself, between parries at Rich, Seth addressed to Rich and to Diane, answering questions they had asked before its beginning.

(During break both Rich and Diane asked questions that Seth undertook to answer to some extent. However the pace soon became too fast for my notes; because of this and the funny goings-on between Rich and Seth, I soon gave up note-taking. [...] But with Seth returning several times to speak to Rich and Diane, it was close to midnight before the affair was wound up.

[...] By late 1967, Seth was also devoting some sessions to helping strangers who had written us, as mentioned in The Seth Material.

[...] The Seth Material, on the other hand, is more like a map, vitalized through Seth’s personality, and as we follow it, we do become aware of other realities that had been unknown to us earlier.

As I mentioned in The Seth Material, my waking projections and the spontaneous ones in the Seth trance yielded enough evidence to convince us that I was legitimately out of my body and perceiving another location — and not just out of my mind. [...]

[...] Now we feel that we have a twice-weekly appointment with the universe, and certainly this attitude developed during those projection sessions when we tried during the day to follow the instructions given by Seth. [...] So even space-wise, there seems to be a connection between those earlier sessions and the present ones in which Seth is dictating his own book.

(I’d felt sad, staring down at the striped brown, black and white body, and remembered Seth’s material about how both parties in any death share the experience. [...]

(When Seth came through Jane’s Seth voice was the best I’ve heard it yet. [...]

[...] “I can feel Seth around, but every time I do, I start moving again.” [...]

(“Afternoon, Seth.”)

[...] As I have explained in my book, but also in the Seth material to date, there is a psychological bridge that is constructed not only in this situation but in any like legitimate situation. [...] In your terms, however, and strictly in your terms, I could seem to be a future Ruburt, and if you were in connection with other more eternal portions of your own personality that you could not materialize in physical terms. [...]

(Gert was asking about conversing with Seth, truth, etc.)

Now I do not want to monopolize your conversation and so I will let you take a break and when you are ready for new material I will give it to you. [...]

([Florence:] “I’m sorry, Seth. [...]

[...] The material that had come through was quite unexpected. Evidently it had been inspired by our conversation after the last deleted session, about Seth’s material on animal-man and man-animal. [...]

(“Thank you very much, Seth. [...]

[...] And in our 12th Session Seth gave what I still think of as a cornerstone that served as a preliminary framework upon which the rest of The Seth Material would be built. I have quoted parts of it in other books, yet the analogy Seth gave us is such an excellent introduction to the interior universe and to his ideas that it is almost indispensable. [...]

I had only begun speaking for Seth a few sessions earlier. [...] We began this one with the Ouija board, but after only a few moments, I shoved it aside and began dictating as Seth. [...]

[...] Those of you who read my two other books in this field know that the experiments were astonishingly successful and led, through the Ouija board, to our first contact with Seth.

[...] Seth didn’t really announce himself until we had worked with the Ouija board four times. [...]
