Again, in your terms, these are your problems, and no god or devil put them upon you, and there is no one to blame but yourselves. On the other hand, for the seasons and the idiot flower (looks at Joel H.), you have yourselves to thank. [...] And so that despite you and your concepts of value, creativity always emerges triumphant, and those that are killed in one war come back to fight against war the next time, and hopefully, you teach yourselves some lessons. Now, when you change the character of the ego as you think of it, you change it not only for yourselves, but for the species of which you are a part. In that area you have individually and, jointly, and on Ruburt’s part more than yours, allowed yourselves to become hypnotized by “effects.” Nor have you really, with feeling, except for certain times, allowed yourselves to clearly work jointly and together to clear those effects—with faith in your abilities to do so.

[...] And you all have human personalities, so therefore the abilities that are shown in this room are examples of the abilities that you have within yourselves waiting to be developed. Now, in somewhat the same way must you meet your own aliveness and encounter yourselves, and you cannot do it by digging around the bush. [...]

[...] Both of you constantly question the world, and both of you in different ways protected yourselves, so that you would not be tempted by the world’s usual ways.

[...] You kept the old ideas of problem solving, and were still hampered by old beliefs that told you not to trust yourselves.

[...] It is rather futile to ever wish that you were both “at one with the world,” or to imagine yourselves following its beliefs blindly, but in blissful ignorance.

[...] Your achievements lie in the fact that you have indeed managed to free yourselves of the dogmas of your times, and of times before you. [...]

You must be more understanding and compassionate toward yourselves than you have been. [...]

You allowed yourselves to be excited by hope and new beliefs. You allowed yourselves to feel enthusiasm and expectation, and you fired each other. [...]

Each of you are more miraculous in this particular moment than any of you presently suppose, but you hide the miracles from yourselves. [...] And if I speak through this woman, then what should this tell you about the nature of human personality and since you all have human personalities at this point, what questions should this make you ask of yourselves. [...] You wanted a circle of safety however, before you would allow yourselves to use these abilities. [...]

[...] Give yourselves time so that that bridge can be a firm and secure one, before you start saying, prove to me the bridge exists. [...]

[...] Give yourselves both time to build this web work before you decide to jump up and down upon it. [...]

In the same way, however, you almost programmed yourselves to react in certain physical fashions, and for the same reasons. [...]

The more you liberate yourselves from such ideas, the freer you will become, the stronger your natural bodies, the more alive your natural selves. [...]

[...] All of the individual and joint inhibitions you have placed upon yourselves spring directly from those specialized versions of yourselves.

Both of you have seen yourselves in the past in a rather specialized light, and interpreted your success, or lack of it, or progress or lack of it, in one particular area only; and you had at least, each of you, a tendency to view the other in the same manner, though this was far more emphasized on Ruburt’s part. [...] You have feelings from your backgrounds that to share is to be vulnerable, to lose what you have, and the feeling that you can save your abilities only by cutting yourselves off from others.

[...] You are successes, whether or not you insist upon thinking of yourselves sometimes as failures.

You need not rip yourselves apart to feel this kinship. [...] Now, I would like you, in this year of yours, in your quiet moments and even in your tumultuous ones, to look gently within yourselves for this living essence. [...]

Now I ask you, briefly, to imagine that you are outside this room and looking down into this room and seeing yourselves without any great emotional feeling. [...]
