You both know what love and hate are, but as I told you earlier, try to think in new ways. [...]

What is required is more than a shedding of clothes, however. [...] Only by turning your head aside momentarily can you see what is beneath the seemingly solid pattern. [...]

The value climate of psychological reality can be likened to an ocean in which all consciousness has its being. [...]

Your own attitude about these issues will tell you much about yourself and influence your own personal reality.

The point of power, again, is in the present, when your nonphysical self merges with corporeal reality. [...]

[...] But all of you do hope for illumination, greater vitality and understanding in one way or another, and wonder what methods might help you achieve these ends. Much of this book will be devoted to various techniques that will help you change your own reality for the better.

2. Seth notes in part, in Chapter Three of Seth Speaks: “Root assumptions are those built-in ideas of reality … those agreements upon which you base your ideas of existence. [...] Each system of reality has its own set of such agreements. [...]

The earlier statement makes perfect sense to me, for each self would call that portion of its greater reality within the whole unit its own soul. [...]

The next chapter will, actually, deal with a further discussion of some subjects that have been mentioned in this one: How aware can you be, as an individual, of your own greater reality? [...]

[...] Biologically I wasn’t keyed into it in my ‘now’, I was in it and not in it, between focused realities … traveling in or through these fluctuations of consciousness Seth talked about in the last session. [...] Was I trying to develop one of those here in my own physical reality? [...]

[...] The source-reality out of which all else springs is never predetermined — that is, predestined, or even set. [...]

Give us a moment … In some adventures you do visit other probable realities in which you have a body structure quite as real as “your own.” [...]

(A one-minute pause at 10:25.) The self that you know and recognize carries within it hints and traces of all of your probable characteristics that can be actualized within your system of reality. [...]

New paragraph: The blueprints for reality will not be found in the exterior universe. [...] They met with varying degrees of success in their attempts to understand the nature of reality, and it is true that their overall goals were different than yours. [...] Your own behavior, customs, sciences, arts, and disciplines are in a way uniquely yours, yet they also provide glimpses into the ways in which various groupings of abilities can be used to probe into the “unknown” reality.

In a manner of speaking, they are indeed learning centers.⁴ Many people have dreams in which they are attending classes, for example, in another kind of reality. [...] All of this, however, is but a beginning for our dream-art scientist, for he or she then begins to recognize the fact of involvement with many different levels and kinds of reality and activity. [...] As he does so, he learns that some of these realities nearly coincide with the physical one, that on certain levels events become physical in the future, for example, while others do not. [...] If the same amount of time were spent to learn a different kind of science, you could indeed discover far more about the known and unknown realities. [...] The trouble is that many in the sciences do not comprehend that there is an inner reality. [...]

Dictation: You must first of all understand that your own greater reality exists whether you are in flesh or out of it, and that your subjective experience has a far greater scope than the physical brain itself allows.

(The next morning Jane told me that she’d been “getting stuff all night again” on “Unknown” Reality. [...] Here I can barely touch upon a couple of examples of what she experienced throughout the night, and wrote about today. [...]

It is, therefore, as if your thoughts appear within other realities as objects — alive and vital in themselves, growing into other systems as flowers or trees grow up seemingly from nothing within physical reality. [...] They are the given “natural data,” the raw material of creativity in the realities that you help seed but do not perceive.

[...] The multidimensional symbol in its entirety, then, has a reality in other states of consciousness, but also at other levels of reality entirely.

[...] The native consciousness within such systems is not aware of the origin of this phenomena, nor of your own reality. They take the evidence that appears to their senses as reality, as most of you do. [...]

[...] Odors therefore have a visual reality, and, as you know, visual data can also be perceived in terms of other sense perceptions.

[...] He knows what that feeling is. [...] It might take a bit before he understands what that means enough to practice it, but he can understand.

Again past, present and future are definite realities only to the ego. Memory to the ego presupposes the existence of a past that no longer exists within physical reality. [...]

To the dreaming self however, past, present and future as such do not exist, and yet it has what you term memory. [...]

(Seth began to talk about the simultaneity of basic reality in the 41st session, which dealt with the spacious present. [...]

[...] The probable self is somewhat like a twin self to the dreaming personality, for neither the experiences of the dreaming self nor the probable self occur within the complete radius of physical reality.

[...] You change what you consider significant. [...] I hope to stress what to do, rather than what not to do, although at times I must make the distinction clear.

[...] You, however, and Ruburt, do have evidence that hardbed reality is quite different. In the past you have both felt at some disadvantage yourselves, feeling our work to be theoretically fascinating, creatively valid, but not necessarily containing any statement about any kind of “scientifically valid” hardbed reality. [...] It does not know what will happen tomorrow, and since it is overly stressed, its paranoid tendencies can only fear the worst.

(It also seems that I’ll never be finished with “Unknown” Reality. [...] I know that she is very upset by the time element involved here, and now I’m not at all sure that I know what I’m doing on the project any more. [...]

[...] I do not think you believe what I tell you, and you do not believe me because you do not really believe that the point of power is in the present.

[...] You must realize that you chose this reality, and unconventional challenges. [...]

[...] You work in more measured patterns, and this is largely responsible for your individual and joint feelings over “Unknown” Reality.

[...] Think what you have in comparison to what many human beings on your planet have, and you are kings. [...]

[...] The very attempt to solve the physical problems often solves the inner problems that are being projected upon the physical reality. [...]

[...] She will make out, in Ruburt’s terms, no matter what you do, or your brothers do. [...]

You did because you felt that you were facing physical reality to that extent, and he was not. [...]

[...] To convert to trailer living meant that we’d have to dispose of most of what we owned, including paintings and manuscripts, furniture, files, books, and many written records — something we probably couldn’t have brought ourselves to do. [...] Jane was much more willing to attempt the move than I was, but I think we knew all along that beneath our questions and feelings the idea of moving was more like a shared dream, or a probable reality we chose not to explore during our current physical lives. [...] We’d felt strong attractions toward what seemed to be a simpler, more open and pleasant life in the Keys, where the weather was excellent all year, and living in a trailer was an accepted way of life. [...] I’d given up my commercial art job before we went on vacation, and didn’t know what I’d end up doing, besides helping Jane as much as I could.

[...] What Jane and I are very curious about, however, is how many “statistically vulnerable” women submitted to operations they didn’t need — for surely a significant number of them wouldn’t have developed cancer in the first place. [...] As things are, though, because of the controversy women once again end up confused as to who is right and what to do. [...]

[...] “You get what you concentrate upon.”¹ Your mental images bring about their own fulfillment. [...]

(“What are the chances of that happening?” I asked Jane. [...] Here someone who’s associated with Reality Change, way out in Texas, and who knows about us through our work, has a relative who lives on Underwood Avenue.... [...]

[...] Her decubiti continue to worsen, though, and I wonder what the limits are here. [...] But I regret seeing what may be chances of help being passed by, and these feelings are, I’m afraid, based on our lack of specific knowledge. [...]

[...] “I’m sitting here feeling funny in the funniest fashion,” she said, “without being able to explain what I mean.” [...]

[...] She’d sent us a tape a few weeks ago—which we haven’t played yet—and has done some writing for Reality Change—Maude Cardwell’s Seth newsletter published in Austin, Texas. [...]

(I had another question for Seth: What should Jane do about her walking on days when she doesn’t feel like doing so—as today? [...]

[...] Acts which fit in with the good-intended universe, in which basically each life and detail, seeking its good, also works for the good of all others, bring forth what you call good acts—simple enough acts which are not well-intentioned in that light, toward the self or others “do not work right.” [...]

In your system of reality, the other creatures cannot help but act with good intent—even if their intent is to kill their prey. [...]

[...] When man learns to approach a well-intentioned psychological environment, he will then be following the inherent nature of all realities.

[...] It can hardly be a coincidence that this “opportunity” materialized shortly after we began our new program suggested by Seth, and what we’ve learned about our attitudes toward publicity, scorn and criticism, and go forth. [...]

[...] It goes its own way, concentrated in day-to-day reality, while the inner portions of the self amass great information, perhaps, try out new organizations, and utilize the inner senses. [...]

[...] His poetry was largely mystical poetry, and though he did not dwell upon the fact, he realized that this vast inner reality of his was quite beside the point of living as far as other people were concerned.

He became quite good at expressing this inner life regardless of other circumstances, and the situation at home, and he understood that it was at odds with what was expected. [...]
