The creation of this kind of reality is quite legitimate for those involved. However, they are not entitled to project their views of reality upon others—an obvious impossibility for them to grasp, since they are blind to any other kind of reality than their own.
Now in a manner of speaking—though I see that little time has passed in this living room where I speak with Ruburt’s permission—we have transcended time to some extent this evening, for in what I have said there are indeed hints and illusions—cadences—that can, if you are ready, give you a feeling for existence as it is outside of time’s context. Even to try and verbally present such material necessitates alterations involving perception, for while that gridwork appears quite stable to your senses, giving you a reliable picture of reality, this is also because you have trained yourselves to pick up certain signals only. Other realities quite as legitimate as your own, quite as vital, quite as “real,” coexist with your own, and in the terms of your understanding, “in the same space”—but of course in terms of your experience those spaces and realities would appear to be quite separate. No systems are closed, however, so that basically (underlined) the living grid of perception that causes one world or reality is also “wired into” all other such systems. [...]
[...] “I’m really making an effort to free myself from what science believes about evolution, or anything like that,” she said. “That’s what I got before the session—about animals reincarnating—and I thought: Oh, no. [...]
“In color as usual: I can recall hardly any of these, but Jane suggested I write down what I can. [...] I had no sense of one dream being inside the other one, as in what I call the conventional double dream.”)
[...] Both imagination and reason belonged to the species from the beginning, but the species has used these qualities in different ways throughout what you think of as historic time. There is great leeway in that direction, so that the two can be combined in many many alternate fashions, each particular combination giving you its own unique picture of reality, and determining your experience in the world.
[...] There are many reasons for such actions, but an overemphasis upon what you think of (underlined) as the reasoning abilities, as opposed to what you think of as the imaginative abilities, is at least partially to blame.
[...] His view of reality is eccentric from most viewpoints. He adds a flavor to the world that would be missing otherwise, and through his very eccentricity, to some extent he shows other people that their rigid views of reality may indeed have chinks in them here and there.

Your many civilizations, historically speaking, each with its own fields of activity, its own sciences, religions, politics and art—these all represent various ways that man has used imagination and reason to form a framework through which (underlined) a more or less cohesive reality is experienced.
[...] There is a rhythm, even now, to my own experiments in dream reality. [...] (In some of these, what I saw later checked out against physical reality.) Sometimes I do very well and feel that I am learning to manipulate in two levels of reality at once, to be aware both in waking and dream states. And then for months at a time, I am plunked down in physical reality again, dumb and blind to my dream experiences. [...]
[...] There is a dimension of reality (an “objective” dimension, if you prefer) in which all dream events happen. There are rules; Seth calls them root-assumptions that operate in all realities, our own included. We have to learn what root-assumptions govern dream reality. [...]
Yet, even when we admit the inspirational and supportive nature of dreams, even when we learn to recall dreams and apply them to daily life, we still only begin to glimpse their multidimensional reality. [...] We believe in utilization; if dreams can’t be useful, then what good are they? [...] But this is only a portion of any real exploration of dream reality.
There are connections between these two conditions, and there are definite realities that exist in both states, and these are what you are looking for. Only by finding these can you discover the nature of human personality and the nature of reality within which it operates.
You are each a center and a focus point and an individuality, and around you are circling realities and you have an existence in each of these. [...] It seems to you as you read the session that you are small and tiny, with reality spinning about you that you can neither see nor understand, but this is not the case, for a part of you does know. You are a part of these encircling realities and your dreams and thoughts and wishes affect those realities even though you are not consciously aware of this. And when you pluck a finger into the air, then you disturb and change and alter other realities that you cannot see nor touch, and other realities in which a finger, as a finger, does not exist. [...] One of your own dreams rising out from you as its center, it touches and changes these other realities. There is no feeling that you have, there is no word that you utter, there is no thought hidden in the deepest environment of your brain that does not have a reality different than the one you know. [...] Now indeed, not only does each thought have an electrical reality of its own and endures unchanged, but what you consider to be yourself has an electrical reality and is coded in terms that you cannot presently understand. [...] When this occurs no individuality is ever lost, but each of (the) joining consciousnesses are able to participate in greater realities. [...]
So do not feel that you are powerless, do not feel that you are at the mercy of events, for you form events not only in this reality, but in these other realities which you do not consciously understand. Each move that you make is not multiplied a million times, not simply multiplied, but it reaches out and changes and alters and affects these other realities and it becomes a new action. It becomes a new action as it approaches and reaches other realities, and it in turn initiates action. [...] These meetings occur in this room, but they also occur in other realities, and when you come here to this class you are also attending a class on another level, and you are not aware of those classes, though I am aware of them. A portion of yourselves exist also in many other realities. [...] This is an analogy—replicas of this room containing each of you exists now as you think of now in many other realities. Ruburt will explain electrical reality from our sessions. [...]
[...] In ordinary life during the day consciousness often takes a recess, so to speak — it daydreams, or otherwise experiences itself as somewhat apart from the body’s reality. At night, in sleep, the self’s consciousness takes longer, freer recesses from physical reality, and does this as spontaneously as the body itself walks. [...] On such occasions, each person is to some extent aware of a kind of comprehension that is not dependent upon the accumulation of data, but of a deeper kind of experience and direct encounter with the reality from which the world emerges.
[...] Common sense upholds them, and it seems impossible to consider reality otherwise. Yet by their nature such categories structure your experience of reality itself to such an extent that any alternate ways of perceiving life seem not only untrustworthy, but completely impossible.
If your purpose is to comprehend what other living creatures perceive, then the methods you are using are at the best shortsighted, and at the worst they completely defeat your purpose. For example: No matter what information or data you receive as the result of animal experimentation or dissection for scientific purposes, and no matter how valuable the results appear to be, the consequences of such methods are so distorted that you comprehend less of life than you did before.
[...] Since your universe springs from an inner one, and since that inner one pervades each nook and cranny of your own existence, you must look where you have not before — into the reality of your own minds and emotions. [...]
You will in all cases attempt to construct as physical reality your inner conception of what reality is. Your physical environment and conditions are a mirror of your own basic conceptions of reality. If the environment changes it is because your inner conceptions have changed, and no smallest alteration is made within physical reality, that has not first been made within the inner self.
All systems of reality are created, or constructed, by those who perceive the system. [...] However there are certain conditions necessary before precognitions can arise to conscious levels, and there are definite conditions that must exist before what you call apparitions can be perceived.
[...] Mass dreams are indeed a reality. They exist mainly at one particular level, and they have to do with what you may call for now, world pictures.
Now I have told you time and time again, my friends, that you construct your physical universe and your private environment in line with your inner expectations, for they mirror perfectly the deepest areas of your own inner reality.
It should be easier now for you to understand this vitality, since we have already spoken in terms of reality existing by means of intensities. You will recall that I spoke of distances in terms of action, and that these distances occurred not in a perceivable framework of the sort with which you are familiar, but that I spoke of distance that had its reality in terms of the varying intensities within any given electrical actuality.

In your terms, while you live, and in the most pertinent terms of intimate sensation, your reality must be what you perceive in the framework of your time, and what you create within that framework as it is experienced. [...]

The most negative projection or prophecy seems to be the most practical one; when you are reading of the world’s ills, you say in all honesty, and with no humor: “How can I ignore the reality, the destructive reality, of the present?” In the most practical, immediate, mundane terms, however, you and your world are in that moment naturally and physically safe, as your bodily senses immediately perceive. They sought their identity, therefore, in other realms of existence because they could not understand what it was in this one and so this is meant to lead you to open those gates, that you know exist, to your own inner self. This reality and those attributes will appear within various systems of actuality in keeping with the camouflage data of any given system. [...] The other method is to realize that this primary motive force has a reality independent of its connection with the world of appearances.
[...] They will not, therefore, isolate the individual involved, but instead will enlarge his perceptions until he will experience the reality and uniqueness of as many other aspects of reality of which he is capable.
As there are portions of reality that you do not consciously perceive, and other systems of probability of which you are not consciously aware, so also are there aspects of primary godhood that you cannot at this moment comprehend. There are, therefore, probable gods, each one reflecting in its way the multidimensional aspects of a prime identity so great and dazzling that no one reality form or particular kind of existence could contain it.
Your dreams affect your cellular reality, even as that reality is also largely responsible for the fact that you dream, in your terms, at all. [...]
Such a consciousness is at a state of being in which its reality generates more energy and power than it can physically express in its brilliant intersection with physical reality. [...]
[...] Your consciousness is cellularly-attuned in life, in that it perceives its own reality through cellular function that forms the bodily apparatus. [...] It is intertwined with your own reality as you think of it. [...]
[...] When you experience an event, you do not usually stop either to examine the rules of perception or to wonder what these are. [...]
[...] One dream object has reality then in four or five different levels of reality simultaneously, the one object being more than itself, and equal to realities that have existed or will exist in your past or future; the past and future being therefore contained simultaneously within the dream object, by virtue of a quite real psychic contraction and expansion.
Friends knowing of our sessions have asked at one time or another that I explain what appeared first in the universe, what started it all, and they ask with such ponderous voices. [...]
He would wonder what collective madness made or permitted man to select, from a virtual infinity of what would appear as chaos, to select a handful, a mere handful, of similarities and call it a universe.
[...] The preliminary discussion of the subconscious layers was necessary, since dreams originate in these various levels, and should therefore be interpreted according to the particular symbolisms inherent in the realm of reality to which they may belong.
3. A note added later: I found most of the material Seth had delivered since 10:11, but especially at this point, to be strongly reminiscent of a passage in the 657th session in Chapter 15 of Personal Reality. I’ve put together these excerpts from that session: “Each of your reincarnational selves has its own ‘points of power,’ or successive moments, in which it materializes daily existence in a linear manner from all the probabilities available to it. [...] There is a constant interaction in this multidimensional point of power, therefore, so that in your terms, one incarnated self draws from all of the others what abilities it wants. These selves are different counterparts [my emphasis] of yourself in creaturehood, experiencing bodily reality; but at the same time your organism shuts out the simultaneous nature of experience.”
(In an effort to reassure her, I looked up what Seth said in Chapter 9 of Personal Reality, and showed it to her. [...]
[...] They transform themselves, therefore, into the structured reality that they then become. Ruburt is quite correct in his supposition of what he calls “multipersonhood” in Adventures.1
[...] You view the fantastic variety of physical life — its animals, insects, birds, fish, man and all his works — with hardly a qualm; yet you must understand that the nature of consciousness itself is far more varied, and you must learn to think of an inner reality that is as infinite as the exterior one. [...] The present idea of the soul, you see, is a “primitive” idea that can scarcely begin to explain the creativity or reality from which mankind’s being comes. [...] This does not deny the independence of the persons, but your inner reality straddles their reality, while it also serves as a psychic world in which they can grow.3
[...] It is communicated through what you call hunch or intuition. It represents actual knowledge of a definite and unerasable reality.
[...] The inner senses, and this should help Philip, the inner senses deal with direct perception of reality, of inner reality.
The outer senses do not deal with direct perception of reality. [...] They are useless in themselves as far as enabling you to perceive inner reality. [...]
The inner senses belong to you as inhabitors of a spontaneous inner reality universe. [...] Only by using the inner senses can you perceive while on your plane the inner reality of which it is part.
[...] [The only trouble is that Jane and I wouldn’t last long!] That astonishing creativity and energy in the sessions beckon us on constantly, then, regardless of what we think about Seth’s “reality or nonreality,” and even regardless of what he tells us about himself.
[...] [I’d also wanted to see what she and Seth would come up with on demand.] But this time Seth fooled me and started Mass Events only a couple of weeks after finishing Psyche. [...] It’s always a pleasure to work on a Seth book, to explore with him his unique view of reality, and to try to put at least a few of his ideas to use in our everyday, “practical” world. [...] Jane agreed, while still worrying about what we were going to do with all of the material as it accumulated year after year. [...]
(At the same time, Jane and I are extremely grateful that we have the opportunity to study ideas about consciousness with Seth, and this opening up of our individual realities is something we couldn’t have conceived of before 1963. [...] [Actually, I think that what I’ve learned has saved me from bitterness and disillusionment in later life. [...]
I have thus far stayed clear of many important and vital subjects, involving mass realities, because first of all the importance of the individual was to be stressed, and his power to form his private events. Only when the private nature of reality was emphasized sufficiently would I be ready to show how the magnification of individual reality combines and enlarges to form vast mass reactions — such as, say, the initiation of an obviously new historical and cultural period; the rise or overthrow of governments; the birth of a new religion that sweeps all others before it; mass conversions; mass murders in the form of wars; the sudden sweep of deadly epidemics; the scourge of earthquakes, floods, or other disasters; the inexplicable appearance of periods of great art or architecture or technology.
[...] The seeds are the physical carriers of future oranges, but the blueprints for that reality are what formed the seeds. [...] Because you think in terms of consecutive time, it seems that there must have been a first egg, or seed.1 The blueprints for reality exist, however, in dimensions without such a time sequence.
(Once again now, Jane wondered why the “more elaborate or complicated qualities” of her trances [she couldn’t really explain what she meant here] were necessary in order for her to deliver this book, as opposed to the “easier” ones she’d experienced for Personal Reality. I suggested she forget such comparisons and think that “Unknown” Reality simply required a different approach, for whatever subjective reasons, and that perhaps her constant questioning would be taken care of as her work on it progressed.5
The “unknown” reality. Unknown or not, it is what you are working with.
The bulk of the material in Personal Reality concerns the nature of beliefs, and the physical and mental environments that are created, both individually and en masse, as a result of those beliefs. [...] Chapters 16 and 17 in particular contain material on what Seth calls natural hypnosis, and on Western medicine, physicians, the suggestions associated with medical insurance and “health” literature, diet, childbirth, hospitals, natural death, good and evil, and so forth.
[...] What you now think of as the dream state was the waking one, for it was still the recognized form of purposeful activity, creativity, and power. The dream state continues to be a connective between the two realities, and as a species you literally learned to walk by first being sleepwalkers. [...] You spoke in your dreams and later wrote down the alphabets—and your knowledge and your intellect have always been fired, sharpened, propelled by the great inner reality from which your minds emerged.
[...] As physical creatures, they focused upon what you think of as physical identities: separate, individual differences, endowing each physical consciousness with its own original variations and creative potentials, its own opportunity for completely original experience, and a viewpoint or platform from which to participate in reality—one that at that level could not be experienced in the same way by any other individual (all very intently). This is [the] privileged, always new, private and immediate, direct experience of any individual of any species, or of any degree, as it encounters the objective universe.
[...] I don’t remember what he said that well, but I just felt that terrific conviction. You know what I mean?”
[...] My wife is also doing some poetry as a Christmas present for me—though she’s very secretive about this activity; I’m not supposed to know what she’s up to.
[...] The inner ego is another term for what we call the inner self. As the outer ego manipulates within the environment and physical reality, so the inner ego or self organizes and manipulates within an inner reality. The inner ego creates that physical reality with which the outer ego then deals.
The inner ego however is always aware of both aspects of its reality. [...] It constantly translates the components of its gestalt into reality, either physical reality through the EE units I have mentioned, or into other realities equally as valid.

An individual inner self, then, through constant massive effort of great creative intensity, cooperates with all other inner selves to form and maintain the physical reality that you know, so that physical reality is an offshoot or by-product of (pause), the highly conscious creative inner self.
