[...] There was stuff I’ve also forgotten though that made me waken at once, furious; some connection between the two books, also whole bunches of feelings rise to my mind about the disclaimer being like a sign or statement that I’m a liar or that my work isn’t truthful or like, hell, the letter A for adulteress they used to pin on wicked women.... The world, however, was seen as unsafe to one degree or another in each. [...]

Personally, Ruburt understands however that he exaggerated the negative elements of his condition, thinking that he was being realistic. [...]

(In the ESP class session of February 9, 1971, Seth gave an excellent account of the particular aspect of his perceptions that I was referring to now. [...] Here’s an extract from the class session, which was recorded as usual:

[...] Jane was aware that her pace had been quite slow most of the time. [...]

(“Now [humorously]: no one asked me what it was like when I go into a trance. [...]

[...] The break after 1st half hour served to encourage me, personally, that data was okay—before I continued. [...]

[...] “Seth was doing it slow so that I got it right,” Jane said. [...]

[...] You may say, “I was born in a house on a certain street in a certain town, and no present belief to the contrary will change that fact.” [...]

[...] “Boy,” Jane said after she was out of an excellent trance, “I had the feeling we were getting some new stuff. [...]

[...] that there was someone around to keep order... and to keep an eye on things and to take care of  your spiritual nourishment when you had forgotten what the spirit was. [...]

The intellect was meant to be an aid—you are using your intellect as a dictator (to Florence)—and you are allowing this dictator to send your intuitional self into exile. [...]

You could not die unless you were the kind of creature who was born, nor could you have a present moment as you consider it. [...]

[...] According to logical thought and language you may say: “I am going to a party today because I was invited last week, and said I would attend.” [...]

(11:26 P.M. Jane said that it was as though Seth had just so much material planned for this evening’s session, and when he’d covered everything he called it a night.)

(“No,” I said, although Seth-Jane’s pace was pretty good as far as my writing speed was concerned.)

[...] It does not bother you one whit that the physical substance of your body is made up of completely different atoms and molecules than it was composed of seven years ago, [say], or that your familiar hands are actually innocent of any smallest smidgen of matter that composed them [even in recent times past].

Now you are all getting it this evening, but it is long due—and it is for this reason that our friend Ruburt did not welcome me with open arms at your last class, for he knew what I was up to. [...]

[...] Your (to Rose) information was quite legitimate (this referred to a letter Rose received from England). [...]

(Seth was quite intense in his delivery of the preceding material—more so than usual.)

(Class took another break and there was a discussion of sleepwalking.)

Unfortunately, certain aspects of Christianity were stressed over others, and that dictum was based upon the belief in a wicked self that needed to be disciplined and diverted into constructive activity. [...]

In certain terms, language itself has its roots in the dreaming condition — and man dreamed [that] he spoke long before language was born (intently).

[...] From the beginning, I said that the self was not confined to the body. [...]

(With all of our outgoing activities, though, the month of November was also a sad — and educational — one for us. [...] The veterinarian told us that the cat’s heart was failing. [...]

[...] She was afraid that if we didn’t, she, at least, would never have another pet — so we found “Willy Two” at an area humane society. [...]

The case was startling, again, because of the obvious suicidal acts. The poison was, after all, left as evidence. [...]

[...] At the same time you say how good it would be to just take a job and come home when it was finished—a self-deception. [...]

[...] Once that goal was reached, your beliefs about time and creativity became pertinent, as did the issues concerned with spontaneity and discipline.

When you had a job the issue was clear for each of you: in your free time you felt you had a perfect right to paint or write, do relaxation exercises or psychological time. [...]

[...] You simply told him that was beneath his abilities, without understanding the sense of loneliness, or the fear generated by conventionalized beliefs, which before his own experiences he did not encounter. [...]

10. Perhaps I should have asked Seth to be more specific about those “certain cellular functions” that are accelerated in the sleep state, but I didn’t; I was tiring. It’s well known that parts of the brain are much more active when we sleep than when we’re awake, for instance, but I doubt that Seth was referring to such phenomena here.

[...] It was impossible to imagine civilizations built upon data that were mentally received, consciously accepted, and creatively used.⁷ Under such circumstances scientists could hardly look for precognition in cells.⁸ They did not believe it existed to begin with.

3. One of the most unique out-of-body experiences, or projections, I’ve had was much like that which Seth describes here. [...]

[...] But it didn’t come through before “Unknown” Reality was finished, in April 1975.
