(Jane hadn’t operated well yesterday.¹ She did tell me that she was somewhat surprised to realize Seth might be closer to completing his work on Dreams than she’d thought he was. [...]

[...] This one was fully grown and bore a heavy coat of mixed black, brown, and gray hair; the colors exactly matched those of the tree trunk. [...]

Jane’s delivery for Seth was hardly fast this evening, but still she paced the session quite a bit more rapidly than she had the one for last Tuesday night. [...]

[...] I was getting the rather odd impression that to some extent his material this evening would grow out of our experience with the raccoon, even if he didn’t mention it.)

My friend here (Rachel) was ready to leave. [...] I could have waited until our friend here was at the front door, and yelled with Ruburt’s lungs to call her back. [...]

[...] But Ruburt knew that I would be here before class was over, and I come to you with no great pronouncements. [...]

[...] I would demand that your husband know why (to Rose) and rid himself of the problem that was causing the symptoms. [...]

(V. whispered to T. asking if he was watching the tape.) I sipsise (?) [sic] whispers. [...]

(Jane was again very relaxed before the session. [...]

There was such a relationship, and our friend took very sadly to a menial position for it followed one in which he was a great leader. [...] And he was a slower learner indeed. [...]

(During break there was a discussion of the above.)

(Ron:] “It was just a general question of, could you see the room in the same terms that we see it, when you’re not looking through Jane’s eyes, if you wanted to or would it...”)

([Natalie:] “Was there any truth to the impressions I received of resentment from Jane?”)

[...] He was on the right path before, but consciously he did not recognize it. [...]

[...] The last line was a surprise. [...]

(To Joel.) For all those who have in their deepest, most sacred thoughts imagined that to be quiet was good and to be dignified was pious, then such a performance as mine should certainly make them think. [...]

(To Bobby.) And I hesitate to bring this up but our friend, here in the middle, was a Brother in an order in the 15th century in Denmark and it was a secret order that operated underground, so to speak. [...]

(During break Florence remarked Seth’s accent was sophisticated.)

(A note: The night was very warm, and followed a series of really cold ones through most of this month. [...] The change in the weather was quite exhilarating.)

[...] There is a basic unit of consciousness that, expressed, will not be broken down, as once it was thought that an atom was the smallest unit and could not be broken down. [...]

[...] Jane was quickly out of another good trance; once again it had been a long one. Ruburt’s own development makes this possible, for it was necessary that he progress to the point that he has in Adventures,² and reach the level of certain theories so that these could be used as springboards. [...]

[...] (This was a phrase left out earlier. Seth spoke so quickly it was difficult to take notes.) I had better leave you, for you are indeed mad scribblers. [...]

[...] Lillian began to read the notes she had taken and Seth corrected them as she read, so that there was a constant give and take going on.)

[...] She was too relaxed. At the same time she was experiencing so many beneficial bodily changes that she didn’t feel like concentrating. The evening was also quite hot and humid — with the temperature over 80 degrees at session time — and this bothered her considerably. [...]

[...] Her walking is still better than it was. [...]

[...] Her pace was quite rapid — as fast as it’s been, I believe, since Seth started his book. Jane’s manner was easy and relaxed, her voice average, her eyes closed often.)

[...] I believe there is some difficulty, or was (there was!) with the lower right-hand corner, a matter perhaps of needing more transparent lights — not too obviously applied however. [...]

[...] Its characteristics can be given to some degree, and indeed most of my readers could find out these characteristics for themselves if they were highly enough motivated, and if this was their main concern. [...]

(Seth spoke slowly, fairly deeply and fairly loudly and the voice was accompanied by the usual Seth mannerisms.)

[...] The letters C A R are part of the last name of a person I was thinking about prior to the session and this could be the reference. [...]

(Ibelieve Janet was the one who is referred to in this note. [...]

[...] That was the result of some of his good work in Framework 2.

[...] The stool was no longer comfortable simply because his muscles were stretching further, but his fear at the seeming poor performance previously led him to some negative projections. [...]

[...] Ruburt hit on an idea yesterday, and forgot it: he mentally pretended that he was skiing. [...]

“What happened was a very momentary merging of personality characteristics on deeper than conscious levels,” Seth said. [...] It was the similarities, however, that made even that [small] contact possible.”

[...] A few years ago he did some medical artwork and was amazed at his proficiency at it, and with the medical procedures and terminology, which were quite unfamiliar to him when he began. [...]

Seth told us quite a bit about this “man” that night, and described some of the methods he was using in an attempt to contact this reality. [...]

When I said that our simple little exercise last week was a preliminary exercise, that is exactly what I meant but you are the ones who are placing the interpretation upon it that you are. Now, this class worked for our young friend because she was ready to use her abilities and open to use her abilities and prepared. [...]

It was, indeed. It was a way of getting you to become familiar with your own consciousness and states of consciousness that you adapt, all without knowing, into which you fall and rise without conscious knowledge. [...]

It was not projection alone, but your own fears can act to attract the fears of others and then you bear twice the burden. [...]

[...] Jane was again well dissociated. [...]

[...] But in working toward a goal that is very distant, a goal that will be extremely difficult for you to achieve, you feel subconsciously that you will be excused from failure; if you fail you can then say that it was because so many obstacles were in your way.

[...] (Pause.) From the beginning Ruburt has questioned whether or not our material gave a true explanation of reality—or at least presented one that was as approximately true as possible. [...] Was the material true or false? [...]

[...] Today, however, she did get several more notebook pages on a “Speaker’s manuscript”—an idea she began to receive material on last Thursday, she thinks it was. [...]

[...] I’d heard the same sound a few days ago, but since it had been a windy day I’d thought the noise was caused by branches rubbing against the house or fireplace outside. [...]

The idea of the Sinful Self came into play here, for if the material was not true, then in that framework it must necessarily be false—or at the least very misleading. [...]

(Seth considered the first two questions but not the third one; I didn’t realize this until the session was over. [...] Half our problem, we saw in a discussion before the guests arrived, was that we had no planned response for such situations: we ended up feeling guilty at saying no, and resentful at saying yes. As it was, we sat for the session, with a resolve to try to do better next time. [...]
