[...] I’ve noticed it at times before, as well as the lumps or nodules that seemed to move about in the muscular structure of the arms. [...]

(Part of the session grew out of our recent reactions to the televised newscasts, as well as what we’ve been reading lately, concerning the mass suicide in Guyana, the shooting of the mayor of San Francisco, problems with inflation, the Middle East —any of what seemed to be an infinite number of ills the species has created for itself. [...]

[...] So I’ve stopped pushing for continuances of the promised material. [...]

(Our beliefs and intents cause us to pick “from an unpredictable group of actions,” or probabilities, those that we want to happen, as Seth tells us in the 681st session in Volume 1; therefore, from my physically oriented probability the considerable work I’ve put into this paper is an examination of evolution in connection with a number of Seth’s concepts. Religious questions connected with evolution aren’t stressed as much as some might like, although they aren’t ignored either — but to go very far into religious history would lead away from the focus I’ve chosen.

[...] As I interpret what I’ve read, Darwin didn’t deny the existence of a god of some kind, but he wanted one that would abolish what he saw as the “upward” struggle for existence. [...]

[...] Such “causal analysis” then proves itself over and over again — a situation I wryly note, that’s akin to the criticism I’ve read wherein the theory of evolution is used to prove the theory of evolution. [...]

(Jane has felt somewhat better the last couple of days, and I’ve been hoping that what we’re learning is “responsible” for that improvement. [...]

[...] I don’t think we’ve ever “abandoned” a session once we sat for it, but was willing to do it if need be. [...]

[...] “I’ve completely forgotten your questions, too,” she said. [...]

(Since Seth mentions such episodes tonight, I’ll note here also that lately Jane has had a number of dreams involving television programs that we’ve seen—shows like Dallas, TV movies, etc. [...]

(We’ve learned a good deal about Jane’s symptoms, working with the pendulum since Monday’s session. [...]

[...] But Jane said the silence bothered her—the kind of remark I’ve always heard her make. [...]

[...] I added that when I used the term Sinful Self, I only meant certain blocks of ideas that we’ve personified for convenience’s sake.

(Lest some hypothetical readers of this material in the future regard Jane and me as idiots, incapable of learning, I’d like to note in our own defense that we’ve made many efforts to put the symptom situation out of mind as much as we’re capable of, yet it doesn’t leave us. [...]

[...] They also have to do with her teeth and jaw symptoms, and fear of eating recently, we’ve learned.)

[...] I’ve felt quite a bit better. Seth’s insights in the session carry further the various hints and clues I’ve uncovered by using the pendulum at different times—in a not very efficient way, I’m afraid, considering how much the situation has bothered. [...]

[...] She discussed the book to some extent with Patty Middleton recently; and I’ve talked about it at times, although without referring back to the typed page.

[...] I don’t remember Seth discussing such “probable” possibilities in just that way, especially, and they would be much too involved to go into here, but I’ve often felt that some of our probable selves move into realms of being that are literally incomprehensible to us, so different — alien — are they and their environments from our usual conceptions of “solid” physical existence.

5. So far in Volume 2, I’ve mentioned the inner senses (as described by Seth) in Note 5 for Session 709, and Note 6 for Appendix 18. [...]

[...] “It’s like you’ve been through a training period you didn’t even know you were going through—and now, in our terms,” she said with surprise, “it’s taken all that time. Like I’ve been scared as hell to move out of the old framework. [...]

[...] As I’ve said several times lately, I think that it is only very recently that Jane has begun to appreciate my reactions to her condition; that she has even realized that I have a position about them. [...]

(So far I’ve aimed for a status quo—aiming not to get worse, which does frighten me and makes me consider giving the whole thing up—if it can’t be kept in bounds and isn’t... [...]

[...] What did I give up to get what I’ve got? [...]

(I’ve received various answers from the pendulum on the background causes for my upset; not really contradictory, by and large, but signifying to me that in spite of my concern I hadn’t been willing to buckle down and really work at uncovering the beliefs causing the unrest. [...]

[...] Seth also relates beautifully to other individuals in sessions and in give-and-take conversations, as I’ve tried to show several instances. [...]
