(We had unannounced visitors at supper time tonight—a young couple from Virginia who had just married; talking with them delayed other activities, and probably led to the later start of the session.)

[...] The quickness in various portions of the body may at times confuse him, for other portions cannot as yet keep up. [...]

Some feelings of tension at various times then are simply the result of stages in which certain ligaments are moving faster than others. [...]

[...] Whatever the case may be, it apparently makes no difference in the results as far as time goes, or previous visual contact. [...] For some time now we have kept a weather record, taken just before session time, and there are probably correlations here. This record includes time, temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, rainfall to date, wind velocity and wind direction. [...]

[...] At this time I had no idea of using it for the experiment; the idea occurred later, some time after Jane had left the studio. [...]

[...] I will end our session, so that you have some time for social discourse, and I myself thank our cat lover for the time and energy expended.

[...] Birth and death contain between them the earthly experience that you perceive as happening within a given period of time, through various seasons, and involving unique perceptions within areas of space — encountered with other human beings, all to one extent or another sharing with you events caused by the intersection of the self and time and space.

[...] By the time this episode was resolved Jane had come alert, and surprised me by saying she wanted to hold the session. [...]

[...] It seems, perhaps, easier to have no conscious idea of the year or time that death might occur. [...]

(Once again the day was quite warm — 40 degrees by the time I left for 330. [...]

(I also told Jane about the entertaining time I’d had this morning checking Biblical genealogies, preparatory to the note I want to write for Chapter 5 of Dreams. [...]

[...] She finished at 3:08 — quickly — and said that part of the time her vision was very clear. [...]

[...] They will try out the ideas, many of them, to the best of their ability, and learn and gain much, all the time hanging on safely to the banners of conventional beliefs—and Ruburt has allowed himself no such comforts. [...]

[...] When that time comes there will be different implications, of secrecy, which is mysterious to him, and therefore exciting. [...]

He needs the help now more than you, but I will sometime, when you want it, point out the ways in which your own accomplishments have been made in the face of the negative beliefs and aspects that at one time you accepted.

[...] Keep the household rules then, but within them Ruburt is to have freedom on his part while not intruding on your time. He is to write then three hours a day—more if he wants to—and is to exercise his freedom as a person the rest of the time.

[...] Your sexual lives, despite what you may jointly think, did not suffer on the level in which both of you were working at one time. [...]

At the same time, because of it, and because of his love for you, Ruburt tried to be the good wife by relating to you in the way he thought you wanted him to—as a writer. [...]

(I was angry at the time, I remember, but since I’m typing this material several days later I can’t accurately recall all of my mixed feelings at the time. [...]

[...] In the Air Force situation, for example, he did not say “I cannot possibly deny physical laws, or know what is going on in another place, or even at another time.” [...]

[...] At times it has seemed at best Pollyanna, even to you, in the face of Ruburt’s daily situation, and your intimate experience with it, to pretend playfully that it did not exist.

[...] Our Ruburt is indeed at times heavy-handed. At times he badgers you, but his remarks concerning the importance and indeed the strength of joy, should be well taken.

(Jane said she thinks her practice with psychological time experiments had much to do with the ease with which she put herself into a good state, since she achieved it in about five minutes. [...]

[...] It was late in the day before she discovered this, and she just had time to make the rounds of the stores, all of whom reported nothing found and turned in. [...]

[...] Jane now came out of her trance for the first time since 9 PM. [...] Nor was her emergence from it easy; she seemed to grope her way out of it slowly, eyes blinking with effort many times before they finally opened clearly.

[...] Again, a good time to try projections.

[...] They are most apt to occur in the early hours, between 3 and 5 A.M. The body temperature drops at such times. [...]

The symptoms were also meant to frighten Ruburt, to shock him, to shake him up, and then hopefully do him some good, as he saw how it was to have someone around all the time who did not feel very well.

[...] She said her trance was good, yet she was aware of wanting a cigarette at the same time. [...]

[...] This happened a few times during the first part of the session—usually at key bits of material. [...]

[...] In your terms, by the time an individual is in his last physical life (pause), all portions of the personality are then familiar with it at the time of death. [...]

[...] The discrimination comes to bear upon the precision needed to enter your reality at the precise time, the precise point in time and space, upon which you are concentrated.

[...] This we hadn’t done, of course — partly because of time limitations; partly because Jane hadn’t wanted to be that involved consciously. [...]

[...] She sat down three times today in the bathroom, for instance, the most she’s done so since a little over four years ago, as we figured it. Jane laughed that she’d have made it four times in a row if Willy hadn’t interfered.

[...] I said that the spectacular results obtained had seemed to come straight out of Framework 2. We also discussed the long essay on early man in Time for November 7, and I remarked that I’d like to ask Seth some questions about the state of our present “knowledge” about our heritage.

The spontaneous self, the creative self, is also immersed in Framework 2, and the creative conscious mind springs from there also, even though its focus must of necessity be in Framework 1’s world of space and time.

[...] The last time Jane spoke before three witnesses was during the 89th session. Since then we have had two witnesses at a time often, however.

You may in a dream experience two or three hours in a flash of physical time. [...] The experience of space and time within the dream universe comes very close to the pure expression of the inner self. [...]

Nor is the self limited by either space nor time, for in dreams you have an actuality that has nothing to do with space nor time, and these dream experiences change and alter your personality, for action must of itself always change. [...]

[...] [Jane is not in favor of public accessibility at this time.] LD explained a few things, suggesting among them a committee, perhaps, to screen qualified applicants to the material. [...] “I can’t believe it,” Jane said a number of times as we talked. [...]

[...] You will find yourself at times wanting physical activity more than usual, and at other times wanting only to relax.

[...] My stomach still bothers, but on a much-reduced level; the groin/left testicle seems all but clear at times; occasionally the discomfort returns on a reduced basis also.

[...] (Pause.) And for our romantic Boston friend (smile), the following: at this time you are (smile) not wasting your time with your fine gentleman friend. [...]

[...] At one time many probabilities pointed in that direction. At this time less than half of those chances remain, and even in your terms the odds are very much against it. [...]

[...] There are times when all probabilities point in one direction, and I believe there is a mathematical theorem, a theoretical one, that defines such occurrences. [...]

[...] I wanted to know if these changes, from negative to positive, were legitimate, and possible in such a short time.

At times it masquerades as a distaste for material possessions, but often it is simply also resentment. [...]

[...] Although at times you would consciously want them, the hidden bitterness intruded. [...]

[...] As the personality on your plane actually changes, expands and grows to its potentialities, as it presents at various times varied images to the world (such as — if you’ll forgive me for using cliches — a smiling face, a sorrowful face), but is still basically the same personality, so on another level does the entity present at various times a varied appearance and speak in a different voice. [...] These saucers cannot stay on your plane for any length of time. [...] To conform to the laws of a particular plane is a practical necessity, and at this time, the ‘saucers’ cannot afford to stay betwixt and between for any indefinite period.

[...] Planes may also involve various aspects of apparent time. [...] A plane may be a time … or only one iota of vitality that exists by itself. [...]

I have described those early sessions elsewhere, but here I’m including, instead, a poem that is a dramatic, intuitive statement about my feelings at the time. [...] Seth didn’t really announce himself until we had worked with the Ouija board four times. [...]

It was the first time Miss Cunningham and I had really talked together in some time, and I was shocked by the change in her. [...]

During the rest of that September in 1963, I reread the “Idea Construction” manuscript many times, trying to understand it and hoping to recapture some of the feelings I had had during its delivery. [...]

(“And a connection with time mentioned.” [...] We mentioned time many times during the evening, of course. A prominent written source of time last Friday evening lay in the Fate article on table tipping, which we all read in turn: twenty seconds; after midnight; twelve years; a month later; four months later; three minutes; since 1960, etc. [...]

[...] Both trios worked at tipping the table several separate times, for many minutes at a time.

[...] As stated, the first two times Bill, Don and I sat at the table we deliberately made the table tip; the last time however, with Jane added to the group, the table really tipped through subconscious pressure.

(I finished early so I’d have some extra time to open the account for Jane’s hospital expenses — but wouldn’t you know it, the phone rang at 11:50 a.m. It was someone from social services at the hospital. [...] I told her Jane and I have been frightened for a long time, and she understood. [...]

(The first time I read her the session she fell asleep when I got to the Seth material, so after she came awake with a start I read it to her again. [...]

[...] Then Diana brought in the extra vitamin C Jane is getting four times a day.
