It never sleeps or rests. You can discover the miracle-working power of the subconscious by plainly stating to your subconscious mind, prior to sleep, that you wish a certain specific thing accomplished. Here then is a source of power and wisdom that places you in touch with omnipotence, or the power that moves the world, guides the planets in their course, and causes the sun to shine. Your subconscious mind is the source of your ideals, aspirations, and altruistic urges.”

The personal subconscious and the ego are indeed equal partners in the formation of any given present personality. [...] Once such a relationship is set up between the ego and the subconscious, then communication in general between the two will always improve. The subconscious, even the personal subconscious, is much freer from the moment point than is the ego, and it can inform the ego of important developments which can be of great help.

[...] There is also another result of such relative ease of communication between the ego and the subconscious, in that the subconscious, which is listened to and taken into consideration by the ego, will have relatively little need to make its wishes known in other, perhaps less pleasant ways. Illnesses and various minor and major physical symptoms are often caused as the subconscious tries to speak out, in an effort to make itself heard by the unheeding conscious mind. If the conscious mind consults with the subconscious, such nagging or sometimes explosive efforts will not be needed.

[...] It also brings deep and abiding satisfaction to the subconscious, which is much more joyful than it is given credit for. The subconscious, for example, the personal subconscious, takes great pleasure in its manipulation of the physical fibers in locomotion. [...] The emotion itself is an automatic signal that unites the conscious and subconscious in shared experience.

(My subconscious knows the answer to this problem. [...] I give thanks because I know the infinite intelligence of my subconscious knows all things and is revealing the perfect answer to me now. My real conviction is now setting free the majesty and glory of my subconscious mind. [...]

[...] The healing intelligence of her subconscious mind which created her body is now transforming every cell, nerve, tissue, muscle, and bone of her being according to the perfect pattern of all organs lodged in her subconscious mind.

[...] Each buyer is sent to me by the creative intelligence of my subconscious mind, which makes no mistakes. [...] The deeper currents of my subconscious mind are now in operation bringing the buyers and myself together in divine order. [...]

On a particular level however this makes little difference, because such communications are carried on constantly at subconscious levels, seldom reaching ego awareness, so that individuals are subconsciously conditioned—and underline subconsciously conditioned—therefore expecting, all unknown to the ego, such communications when certain chemical changes come about; since these chemical changes also occur for other reasons when these conditions occur, on a practical level communications will then most easily happen. These chemical changes without the proper subconscious focus point, will result in clairvoyance or telepathy strong enough on some occasions to be conscious. [...]

[...] As there are levels of unconsciousness or subconsciousness, so do each of these levels have their own activities and translate, symbolize and often distort valid data, according to the different degree of subconsciousness through which the data were able to emerge.

The topmost layer of the subconscious contains predominantly present associations, but in these are mixed and interwoven associations which have their origin elsewhere. These may be called self-unifying associations, since merely by their presence in the uppermost layers of the subconscious they provide a unifying sense of psychic continuity; of which however the ego is not aware.

This outego, among its purposes, has the duty of expressing not only itself but to a lesser extent those various hidden personalities which compose the subconscious. In larger terms and in more comprehensive terms, the whole self, the whole field of the complete subconscious and inner self, reaches back to the entity. There is no end to the past projection or existence of the subconscious of any given self; and though it is not understood in your field, there is no end to the forward thrust of the subconscious of any given self.

It is the ego or directive consciousness behind all personified aspects of the subconscious; in dormant fashion however, and contrary to Jung’s propositions, within the subconscious and in those personified aspects of it will be found remnant memory personalities of past reincarnated selves. [...] The inner ego, the directive organizer of the subconscious, also is the part of the self which is familiar with activities and methods of which the outer ego is ignorant. [...]

The consciousness had its origin in the subconscious, from which it sprang. The consciousness was not at one time the center of the subconscious. However, the inner ego was always the center of the subconscious.

[...] It is not a new thing with him to push aside the subconscious at all. [...] His subconscious intuitive self, you see, is extremely vital, alive, and unusually insistent for expression, even for the subconscious which is known for this.

[...] It also siphons off, expresses and uses subconscious desires and moods and repressions, thus freeing the channels of the personal subconscious so that those deeper areas can find expression in psychic work.

[...] The poetic creation, itself art, also serves to free the personal subconscious and to transform personal material into art. The subconscious is thus uncluttered because of the poetic expression, and this helps to make the psychic work possible.

[...] The libido does not originate in the individual subconscious of the present personality. It originates instead in the energy of the entity and inner self, and is directed by means of the inner senses, outward so to speak, through the deeper layers of the individual subconscious mind, then through the outer or personal layers.

[...] It is true that the outward manifestations of the libido are directed toward the physical world, but until the source of the libido is seen and studied and known to exist, not in the topmost subconscious layers of the individual, and not even in the racial subconscious, but within the entity itself, then man will not know himself.

–suddenly burst forth, have long been hiding in the personal subconscious, and are indeed unfortunate creations of a psychotic mind. There are none of these in Ruburt’s subconscious mind.

This is, of course, on a subconscious basis. [...] No one would ever think of calling him lazy or good for nothing, yet this may be precisely his own subconscious picture of himself, against which he drives himself incessantly, all in an effort to prove that his erroneous self-image is, indeed, wrong. [...]

[...] The recognition of the truth about the self means that you must first discover what you think about yourself subconsciously. [...] If it is a poor one, recognize it as simply the opinion of the subconscious and not as a definite truth.

Now: you must understand, for one thing, that telepathy operates constantly at a subconscious level. [...]

[...] Your subconscious is a greater part of you than you know, and the ego is nothing more than the topmost portion of the subconscious. There is after all no dividing line, and you are as much your subconscious as you are your ego, and more.

You see, dear Joseph, the subconscious and the ego, of course, are both you. For simplicity’s sake I will speak of the ego and the subconscious, though they are actually one. The subconscious forms and projects the materializations of the ego as a tool to enable it to attain its goals. [...]

[...] Your subconscious healing abilities and the hidden subconscious vitality beneath became dammed up, seemingly with no means of release.

[...] It is this portion of the self that initiates many of the creative ideas that seem to spring from the subconscious. These will always appear through the subconscious, but the original concepts originate with this portion of the self.

You have by now become acquainted with a self you did not know before our sessions, a self who keeps watch upon both the ego and the subconscious. [...]

This portion of the self then can be utilized to keep the ego and the subconscious in balance. [...]

(I would like to remind the reader here that when Seth uses the term “area,” he means what up until recently he has called a “level” of the subconscious. Actually, he states, the subconscious is not neatly divided into levels, but is marvelously intertwined, like a labyrinth. [...]

The dream objects and activities will then be interpreted at other subconscious areas, so that to understand a dream properly we should first discover at which subconscious area it originates. [...]

[...] Before laying down she had instructed her subconscious to inform her as to whether we would have witnesses, but upon arising she still had no answer. [...]

If you tried to hold all of those subconscious memories uppermost in your mind all of the time, then you would literally be unable to think or act in the present moment at all. You do more or less have a certain access to your own subconscious mind, however. [...]

[...] You also possess what is often called the subconscious, and this merely consists of feelings, thoughts or experiences that are connected to your conscious mind, but would be considered excess baggage if you had to be aware of them all of the time. [...]

(Long pause at 4:06.) It is sometimes fashionable to say that men and women have conscious minds, subconscious minds, and unconscious minds — but there is no such thing as an unconscious mind. [...]

Often when the child cries about a bogeyman, what he has seen is such an image production or fibrous projection, formed by vivid desire or fear on the part of the subconscious. [...] Naturally the subconscious is always linked with the entity, and merely attempts in these cases to imitate the powers of the entity itself. [...]

[...] In each life the new consciousness struggles to tie together the whole present personality, to use what is necessary from the subconscious for the good of the personality, and to keep submerged in the subconscious any knowledge that would threaten the dominancy of the present ego.

[...] The reminiscent stimulus charges storms in the subconscious, which themselves sometimes initiate fresh instances of unpleasantness.

The family all knew, subconsciously again, that the dog had to go. Everyone was overly nice to the dog, so no one would know consciously, what they knew subconsciously—that you considered the dog the symbol of failure. [...]

[...] You did indeed shake yourself up when you decided to put your smoking aside, but this was simply because you felt subconsciously a loss. [...]

[...] Subconsciously you felt cheated. [...]

[...] They aid in keeping the channels open between the conscious and subconscious. [...] He has a habit of ignoring his subconscious, trying to reach other centers, not by going through the subconscious but by attempting to bypass it completely.

The subconscious is a doorway into other portions of the self and it must be entered, and free access must exist to it. [...] The subconscious does this out of fear or resentment. [...]

[...] For to his subconscious, such a personality pattern represented immobility, and this was reflected in the physical symptoms.

In other words the ego is not familiar with the probable self, but certain portions of the subconscious are. For the subconscious, like the probable self, is aware of its existence in the inverted time system. The subconscious is aware of many realities which are not accepted by the ego as actual physical events, and it reacts to many stimuli of which the ego is completely unaware.

This data is often wound by the dreaming self into a dream drama, which informs the subconscious of dangers, or of the probable success, of any given event which is being considered by the subconscious as suitable for physical actuality.

The information is sifted often through the dreaming self to the subconscious, which has intimate knowledge of the ego with which it is closely connected. The subconscious makes its own value judgments here, and passes these on to the ego. [...]

Dreams, then, come from various levels of what you call the subconscious. [...] That is, the particular dream may be a method of saying different things or bringing different messages, the one particular dream automatically being translated by the various levels of the subconscious in terms of the interpretation given by any particular subconscious level to the dream symbolism.

Every subconscious personality then would see and hear the same dream, as many persons may watch the same movie; and as each person in a theater interprets the symbolism of the drama differently, so does each layer of the subconscious interpret differently the same elements of one dream.

I will here suggest that the term “subconscious layer” has served its purpose, and in its place we will refer to “subconscious areas.”

This may not seem so to you, but because subconsciously and basically, though not consciously, Ruburt trusts both his own intuition and the validity of our sessions. He will not allow the rambunctious portion of his personality to upset our schedule, but because he trusts all this subconsciously, he will not be as disturbed as you are if a session is missed.

[...] Consciously recalling the dreams is excellent, since the subconscious data is at least to some extent consciously assimilated, and in the dreams aggressive tendencies are indeed released and worked out in an actual manner, as satisfying to the subconscious as if they were worked out within the physical field. [...]

This involves on his part not a conscious, but a subconscious change of habit. [...]

[...] You need not fear that subconsciously you are going to invite hordes into your home, nor that Ruburt will subconsciously do so.

[...] Now this portion of the self is indeed self-conscious in the highest meaning of the term—aware of the subconscious portion of the personality, aware of the primary conscious framework that you call your ego, and constantly directs the overall activities. [...] It knows when to allow subconscious needs and wishes their fulfillment. [...]

[...] You are your subconscious self, and oftentimes what makes no sense to the ego makes good sense to the overall personality. [...]
