Many cancer patients have martyrlike characteristics, often putting up with undesirable situations or conditions for years.

[...] “What will happen, will happen,” but they do not physically struggle against their situation.

[...] I do not want to generalize, for each living situation is too unique for that. [...]

It seems unnatural to some people to hear of animals’ mothers who refuse to nurse one offspring, or sometimes even attack it — but in those instances the animal mother is instinctively aware of the situation, and acts to save the offspring from future suffering.

You both believed it was quite possible to have clairvoyant dreams, out-of-body experiences, creative adventures in the arts — but to some extent both of you doubted that the same power or energy could be directed effectively in the physical realm, so-called, of bodily health, or situations of the nitty-gritty (with emphatic amusement). (Before tonight’s session Jane said that she’d like Seth to continue his comments on her general situation, although neither of us had specific questions.

[...] When Ruburt feels good by his standards, that is, in a good mood, relatively at peace, and in some kind of bodily ease, taking his situation into consideration, he should note that. [...]

If Ruburt once found himself imagining that he must be strong and perfect enough to help solve everyone else’s problems, now he found himself relatively helpless, and “undefended” —that is, his physical condition put him in a situation certainly where he felt helpless. The super-perfect, impractical self-image simply fell away: it could not survive such a situation. [...]

[...] It finds in the present no justification in fact for such interpretations, while your thoughts act as if those situations were presently before you, to be confronted. [...]

The dream world operates as a creative situation in which probable acts are instantly materialized, laid out in actual or symbolic form. [...]

[...] No personality chooses a life situation of illness. [...]

[...] In entire life situations—I am speaking in terms of a lifelong illness now—the illness is not predetermined by the personality to last the length of the life. [...]

[...] Often in such situations he will hurt himself because he has an exaggerated (underlined) idea of the hurt any normal aggressive reaction, from a frown to a verbal one, can have.
