“Seth material” search engine (Jane Roberts)

(Since giving the 848th session for Mass Events, on April 11, Seth has devoted three sessions to personal affairs that Jane and I have let go for a long time. Then he gave over last Monday night’s “regular” 849th session to subjects he’s not dealing with in this book.

(Jane’s delivery had been good, almost driving, throughout the session; just about as fast as I could write most of the time. [...] I didn’t have any of that in mind before the session — but at my table tonight I did get some things from him that he never mentioned….”)

(Jane held the session later than usual this evening because at 9:00 we began watching the first half hour of a made-for-television movie that was aired on one of the major networks. [...]

Our session is late this evening because Ruburt and Joseph watched the beginning of a (television) movie in which a young woman I will call Sarah appeared as an actress. [...]

(Jane put in her second day as a substitute teacher today, and was obviously tired by session time. She wanted to hold the session. I suggested she demand plenty of energy, as Seth said she could do in the last session. [...]

[...] Instead most of the session was devoted to Seth’s tuning in on Bill and Peggy Gallagher, who are on vacation this week in Nassau.

(A note added a few days later: This session was held on Wednesday. [...] Seth hadn’t actually given us the material during Wednesday’s session, nor did he now — instead Jane verbalized it on her own to some extent. [...]

(“Not since the sessions started [in 1963] have I felt that Seth’s material was so richly available. [...]

(She had doubts, though, about her ability to come through with the very technical data for the young scientist who had called her before the last session. [...]

(The session began with Jane giving impressions on her own while in a light trance state. [...]

SESSION 779, JUNE 14, 1976
9:17 P.M. MONDAY

(No dictation for Psyche was given in the 778th session. [...]

[...] During this spring she began to enjoy long periods of general relaxation and physical improvements, and no sessions were held last week as she “went along with” another series of such beneficial events.

(This morning, following the suggestions Seth gave in the session Saturday night, Jane and I embarked upon a new program of suggestion through using the pendulum, writing down feelings, and so forth. [...]

[...] He felt the impulse to do the floors with your sweeper (while I was mowing grass) and because of our Saturday session he ignored the arm difficulty enough to do the kitchen. [...]

[...] There are several excellent points in the session that we can integrate with the previous one – especially those about using the pendulum to check out specific fears, etc. [...]

[...] In a world in which women are considered passive and the trance largely feminine, you feel that the performance of a session could be too easily misread. [...]

At the same time you’ve felt a strong responsibility to perform publicly, to sell books, get your message across, let people see that—yes, the sessions do happen—there is no fraud involved. [...]

SESSION 759 (DELETED PORTION)

(This is Jane’s first session in six days — quite an unusual occurrence for her.

(Jane did very well today, reading the last session, plus the one for March 19, which Seth wants her to review every so often.

(4:24 p.m. I read the session to Jane. [...]

(Jane added that when she listens to me read a session to her, she’ll get glimpses from Seth sometimes of what he’s going to say next time: “The thoughts are mine, but also a mixture, they have a tinge of Seth’s ideas.” [...]

(The following material is taken from the 756th session.

(10:57.) Do you have any specific questions (about last Saturday’s personal session) or shall I just give it to you?

[...] The last session, mentioning your joint ideas of time, is highly important. [...]

[...] But Seth came through with a page on Jane’s recent excursions into three of her probable realities, so the session wound up at 11:42.)

(When he originally gave us the 812th session some 16 months ago, Seth told us it would “be part of a chapter later in the book….” [See my opening notes for Session 814.] The 812th session was held following an encounter Jane and I had with an unexpected visitor, although these excerpts aren’t personal at all. [...]

SESSION 812, OCTOBER 1, 1977
9:33 P.M. SATURDAY

[...] He ended the session at 11:30 P.M.)

These are only a few excerpts from that first session with Seth. (A few weeks later, though, Rob had some more difficulty with his back and went to a chiropractor who told him that his first vertebra was out of alignment.) The session lasted until after midnight, and after that we sat up talking about it.

[...] While this was already our fourth session at the board, it was really our first Seth session.

The circumstances leading up to the Seth sessions still surprise me. [...]

[...] Nothing in my background prepared me for the astonishing evening of September 9, 1963, yet it was this event, I’m sure, that initiated the sessions and my introduction to Seth.

(I read my paper quoted just above to Jane as we sat for the session. I asked that Seth comment, but also said I didn’t want him devoting the whole session to my challenges, since I know Jane wants book material also.)

(Then while doing the dishes before this evening’s session, Jane said she “got” that Friday night was the “playout” of my dreams involving Bill Gallagher and Sue, which had taken place separately. [...]

SESSION 888 (DELETED PORTION)

(Jane surprised me at supper time by saying she felt Seth around and wanted to have a session. “Sometimes when we’re supposed to have a session I don’t feel him at all,” she said. [...]

[...] From the valley south of our hill house intermittent barrages of fireworks had sounded during the session, and even now crackled anew. The situation was reminiscent, I thought, of other sessions we’d held on warm summer nights with the doors and windows open, and listened to the distant sound of fireworks....)

[...] Seth’s use of “matrix” above reminded me that before the session Jane had mentioned that he wanted to discuss her Sinful Self material in a new sort of matrix.)

[...] It is very important that you understand what I am saying in this session. [...]

(This session was held on Monday, June 9, 1969. It is now Friday, June 13 as I finish typing up this session. [...]

[...] And your prayer sessions have helped you, as I have told you.

[...] I explained to her after the session that I wasn’t sure about the reference to purple or violet, which I seldom use directly because they are hard to integrate into a painting—at least for me. [...] I did explain to her before the session my dislike of too brown a cast to features—this was one of the points we discussed, as mentioned earlier.

It was because of this that you decided beforehand on the development of the sessions. [...]

[...] It also seems that this point coincides with a time of trial for Jane and me, as witness these deleted sessions.

(I told Jane after this session that I’d intended to leave the job in a year or so —in other words, at about this time, rather than when I did. [...]

[...] He was always deeply grateful for your part in Seth Speaks, and in the sessions. [...]

If you both continue these sessions will continue. (?) If you let the personal sessions go then there are reasons why you each let them go. [...]

And with this kind of session you must bear with us for a short while until we get at the proper levels.

[...] For a while at least he felt you met only in your work, and in the sessions.

(Jane was very relaxed after supper, but she wanted to have the session. The period of ease had begun this afternoon, and was still in effect at session time. [...] Jane now gets over to the breakfast table in perhaps half the time it took her when we began this series of sessions....)
