“Seth material” search engine (Jane Roberts)

(It’s hard for us to believe that five and a half weeks have passed following Jane’s last regularly scheduled session, the 906th for March 6. She’s held but one private session, on April 9, since.

Session 906, in which Seth discussed viruses and the social aspects of many diseases, turned on Jane so much that the next day she wrote several additional pages on those subjects. The material came from both Seth and “herself,” and I added it to the notes for that session. [...]

[...] But she’s finally dispensed with the last stages of her cold, which had turned out to be much heavier than mine, and is feeling a resurgence of energy for the sessions. [...] As for myself, I’ve progressed to working with Session 860 [for June 13, 1979], which bridges chapters 8 and 9 in Mass Events.

Today Jane reread her recent sessions for Dreams; she wanted to resume work on the book tonight, and picked up on it from Seth throughout the day. [...] [She also relayed to me Seth’s comments about an article on bird migration that I read to her while we were having lunch, but I lost those too.] Jane called me early for the session—at 8:20, while I was still busy with Mass Events. [...]

(Before this evening’s session I had said that publication of the Seth material could help many more people than Jane [called Ruburt by Seth] could help personally in her ESP classes, and that too much energy expended in the classes took away from that available for the theoretical material available to us in our regular twice-weekly sessions. [...]

In our sessions and in the Seth material I utilize—I must—the best that he as a personality has to offer, and that is considerable. [...] He must be familiar enough, open enough, to be able to accept my ideas in sessions, to be a channel for them. [...]

[...] Since we were somewhat confused as to what course to follow, a session was held this evening.

[...] It is a continuing experiment in that the material will become clearer as his abilities in the sessions grow.

(Jane was getting more upset—here, she said, she’d had no session, no motions, and Paul was coming at supper time. I resumed reading the sessions at 4:15, and we went through the first of the two books. Then Jane said she felt like having a short session after all.)

[...] Jane started reading yesterday’s session, but had a lot of trouble—halting, pausing often. [...]

[...] After she finished the reading, I began reading the old sessions to her—just the Seth material portions. [...]

[...] “Thanks for reading all those sessions. [...]

(4:40 p.m. I told Jane that I’d thought she would speak longer, but she said she often feels that if she did I’d never get the sessions typed. [...] “You wouldn’t get anything done on Dreams if you had to type longer sessions,” she added. [...]

(I typed yesterday’s session this morning, and didn’t get to work on Dreams, “Evolution,” and Value Fulfillment until after 10:30. [...]

(Jane ate a good lunch, then at 3:05 began reading the session from yesterday. [...]

[...] I read a batch of recent sessions to Jane. [...]

(5:30 p.m. Jane had been interrupted at 4:14 by a nurse bringing vitamin C; then I’d read my wife what she’d delivered on the session so far. Now, after today’s session I read the first session for Chapter 1 of Dreams to her. I got the idea of reading the whole book to her because of her excellent response the other day when I’d read her Chapter 5. Again, today, she was quite impressed with that first session. [...] It’s incredible to us that she gave that first session in September 1979, some four and a half years ago.)

(Jane read yesterday’s session, but found lots of it hard going. She did better toward the end, though, after several attempts, then did very well indeed reading rapidly through her favorite session — and mine — for March 19.)

(At least when I’ve been there in 330, Jane’s appetite has gone downhill, and she’s slacked off on free-association material and the sessions. [...] Then yesterday Jane promised to hold a session today, after I’d said that a session might help.

This session should help to minimize that discomfort, which is often so apparent during your visits — precisely when he wants to be at his best. [...]

(After her lunch I read to Jane the same two sessions I’d read her yesterday — for February 1 and 5. I told her that my question for Seth is, why did the fever business start after her initiation of Day 1 of her new program? [...]

(The following material is from the 830th session. [...] The notes that follow were written during that break, and would usually be presented with the regular session; however, since they’re more personal than usual, they’re given below instead. [...]

[...] You should both read tonight’s session, book dictation, with Ruburt’s situation in mind. [...]

[...] Today’s visitor (Josette) came in response to Ruburt’s need, bringing him appreciation and a new encounter—but tonight’s session dictation can be of considerable benefit to you both. [...]

(Finally I sat with her, ready in case the session developed after all. [...] Again Jane had been coughing all day, but when she rose to begin the session the coughing virtually disappeared. [...]

I do not want you to take any time from your own painting to work on Book One of the Seth sessions, nor do I want anyone else to record the sessions.

(It might also be noted that Bill was a witness to the 68th session, but not of course the 75th. At the 68th session, Bill, Jane and I made tentative plans to experiment at set times for telepathic communication while Bill was at the Cape, but these plans did not materialize.)

SESSIONS 449 AND 450

[...] Pat did take copies of the two sessions back to Roger Sullivan who sent us his opinions of them in later December. [...]

(Now here is the reply Roger wrote to Jane on December 21, 1968, after he’d studied sessions 449 and 450. [...]

[...] Sessions 449 and 450 take up the last 18 pages— hence Roger’s references to numbers in the 4,000 category.)

[...] Her “undeviating direction,” expressed in Poem One below, is directly related to the material about her that I quoted from Seth in Note 6 for Session 931, in Chapter 9 of Dreams: “Nothing, however, would have kept him at the sessions for this amount of time unless he wanted them.” (The session I cited had been held in February 1980, when Jane had been speaking for Seth for more than 17 years.)

Jane, then, wrote those two poems 16 days before she dictated the last session for Seth’s The Nature of the Psyche on April 4, 1977; one month before she began dictating Mass Events on April 18, 1977; two years and two months before she began God of Jane on May 6, 1979; two years and six months before she began dictating the Preface for Dreams on September 25, 1979; two years and eight months before she came up with the idea for If We Live Again on November 15, 1979; three years and five months before she began dictating Seth’s material on the magical approach to reality in Dreams on August 6, 1980; four years before she began dictating Seth’s sinful-self material in that book on March 11, 1981; four years and three months before she began coming through with her own sinful-self information on June 17, 1981; and four years and five months before, on August 26, 1981, she wrote the poem in Note 6 for Session 936 of Dreams: “Something in me / ebbs and tides, / as if I let myself / for a while / be washed away / out to sea / while leaving / some spidery shell / upon the shore /….”

He has been trying too hard to some extent in Framework 1, where the spontaneity of motion in Framework 2 will allow for the more or less spontaneous accomplishment of detailed motion in Framework 1. I want to emphasize the importance of the improvements that are taking place in Framework 1. These sessions, however, will result in an acceleration and ease, if the sessions are put to use.

[...] In a way—underlined twice—that kind of time use represents the kind of threshold I use in my communications in sessions. If you followed Framework 1’s beliefs, the sessions would never have begun.

(At break tonight I’d explained to Jane that I still thought the 14th session contained some excellent material on Seth’s awareness of “something resembling time” to him—and that it was “still a reality of some kind” to him. I’m in the process of quoting passages from the 14th session, held in January, 1964, in Appendix 18, as I write it for Volume 2 of “Unknown” Reality.

(We had no questions for Seth in particular, hoping that he would just continue where he’d left off last session. [...]

[...] You were not sure that it was safe to communicate spontaneously or easily—emotionally or sexually, with Ruburt following the two personal sessions. (The two deleted sessions of November 30 & December 2.) The cold effectively kept you from physical contact.

You felt to some extent that you had fallen down in taking advantage of the sessions, that you were not putting into practice certain behavior there suggested. [...] The question you asked in our sessions was in your mind symbolic of a lack of communication still between you and Ruburt, at deeper levels. [...]

(Before the session I asked that Seth discuss two questions. [...]

We may not be able to pin Seth — as that energy personality essence calls himself — down to one physical race, but he is a Sumari: “And a very high lieutenant indeed, I will have you know,” he told us with much humor in his first session on the Sumari family of consciousness, the 598th for November 24, 1971. A month later he offered more insights on his own reality — the kind of information we’re always interested in acquiring (as I wrote in Note 7 for the 733rd session). From Session 601 for December 22 of that year, then:

[...] Actually, I took my little survey on February 4, the evening following next Monday’s session, but give the rather ambiguous results here because of the predominately Sumari material in this (734th) session. [...]

(“I’m at the point now where I know what Seth’s going to talk about,” “Jane said a few minutes before the session began. [...]

[...] At the start of tonight’s session Seth had remarked that generally speaking counterparts are part of the same psychic family, but I wanted to know if reincarnating personalities are also.

Since holding the last [897th] book session nine days ago, Jane has delivered three remarkable private sessions for Seth.¹ Tonight she was quite at ease, and had been tempted to skip the session and just paint. [...] “I love the red couch cover you’re sitting on,” she said as we waited for the session—and indeed, the corded fabric glowed in the warm light cast by the table lamp on the room divider behind the couch; the divider separates the kitchen from the living room.

I told Jane she needn’t have a session if she wanted to paint, but that if she did go into trance I wouldn’t mind getting something from Seth on the dream I’d had early this morning. [...]

[...] She didn’t think the session would be a long one. [...]

NOTE: SESSION 898

SESSION 793 (DELETED SESSION)

(The following material is from the 793rd session.

[...] I will have a separate session on another night in the near future on the entire matter.

(Over the weekend I had devoted some time to trying to sort out the contradictory Frank Watts material given by FW in the first two sessions. [...] Jane and I had been talking about trying to check out some of this material, since presumably records concerning Frank Watts would exist locally; and possibly people who knew him, other than Miss Callahan, and a co-worker of Jane’s at the gallery when the sessions began, Mrs. Borst, might be found who would help us verify any data Seth gave. [See Volume 1 of The Early Sessions.]

(Just before the session was due, Jane remarked that she hoped Seth would discuss the Frank Watts material, thus saving me the trouble of asking the question during the session. She had no idea beforehand of the material the session would cover. [...]

Such an unscheduled session with urgent overtones should at least be studied thoroughly. I am not really suggesting that you act on blind faith, but such a session is a symptom of something in the wind that should be watched, even if Ruburt blocks the full details.

[...] This means that Seth first actually announced his presence, by name, on page 23 of the material and during the 4th session. [...]

(Earlier this afternoon Jane reread several deleted sessions dating from 1973. [...] The material in those sessions concerned her ideas of work, spontaneity, and order, among other things. [...]

[...] The sessions and our work can help bring about a new mental race of men and women. (Whispering:) Ideas change the chromosomes, but the sessions and Ruburt’s books, and so forth, must first and foremost be joyful expressions of creativity, spontaneous expression that fall into their own order. [...]

(This session has so much general application that I’m including it in the regular record. [...]

[...] This in turn left Jane feeling not quite ready for the session at the usual time. [...]

[...] This is why your relationship with Ruburt, you see, is so important in the sessions. When he is confident of you, he is free in the sessions.

[...] However later in our session I will discuss this, as it does contain some validity in theory.

(Here Seth refers to my own pendulum session of July 10, which is on file.)

The birth principle is also here on your parts, not mine, in that the sessions involve a projection into a reality that is largely new, and a birth on your parts, you see. [...]

[...] I read the session to Jane. “That session could be quite significant,” I said. [...]

(After In Search Of ended on TV at 2:30 Jane read the draft of my note for session 896 for Dreams, in which I wanted to know whether she’d ever willed herself sick [as I had] when a youngster, in order to avoid something I wanted to get out of doing. [...]
