You see from (tonight’s) the session the climate of suggestion that is about you, and that had to be conquered. I do not want to repeat myself—Ruburt must read those sessions again. [...]
(The following material is from the 814th session.
If Ruburt will read the last two or three sessions given for him, then I will not need to repeat them this evening. [...]
SESSION 814 (DELETED PORTION)
(This session came through two days before I was to join a meeting of doctors, nurses, and other personnel at 11 AM, Tuesday, to see about arrangements for Jane to return home. I don’t know just when she’ll make it, but when this session was held she already knew that a return to the house was planned. [...]
(A Note added later: Sessions between the one above and the one below contain no Seth Material, but are instead sessions in which Jane received book-length and world-view material on the artist Rembrandt. [...]
DELETED SESSION
When Ruburt on the couch sensed himself in the chair giving a session, to himself on the couch, this was symbolic of a new kind of relationship between the two of us. At the same time it illustrated part of our relationship as it happens in sessions, in which Ruburt allows a portion of himself to step aside. [...]
[...] His main consciousness was merged with mine in the session format; while in the waking experience his consciousness was in the normal image, which sensed the projected one. In the first experience then Ruburt projected an image outward and his consciousness entered it, then he had a session by the same mechanics we always use. [...]
(Although this session is called deleted, actually there’s much in it of general interest; it also deals with some advancements in Jane’s abilities.)
[...] (Yesterday afternoon, Sunday, August 10, 1975.) In a state between usual waking or sleeping he found himself giving a session such as this one, where earlier he had only heard my words in his head.
[...] Jane agreed that perhaps we could have a very short session. I got my notebook and pens, and Jane said that at the same time she thought of a session, she “got that dozing-off feeling thing....” [...]
[...] We’ve been reading sessions—usually the late ones—each day, and these serve as beneficial suggestions, of course, especially in light of Seth’s material in Sunday’s session. [...]
[...] but the inner disposition of these sessions, now, with their frequent startups, then lulls.... [...] End of session. [...]
[...] as though I had a charge of energy for the session, and used it up before I got finished.” [...]
(I lost a couple of hours this evening watching the TV movie, The Day After, instead of typing the daily record for this session from my notes. To compensate—beginning at 10:35 PM —I’ll summarize my notes and concentrate upon the session proper. This way I’ll get the session done this evening. [...]
(She did very well reading yesterday’s session. [...]
[...] It’s poetry; I’m presenting it line by line as Jane told me to divide it after the session.
[...] We talked about how Seth has said he wasn’t a poet, way back at the beginning of the sessions in 1963. [...]
(Ann Diebler has heard Seth speak twice during unscheduled sessions, and had read some of the early material. See the notes for the 206th and the 214th sessions.
(The session was held in our large front room. Jane said she was somewhat sleepy before the session began. [...]
[...] Jane and I mentioned that we would like Seth to say something on both points in tonight’s session.
(Over the weekend Bill and Peggy Gallagher agreed to try mutual concentration upon a single object in their home at session times. [...]
I will now close the session, somewhat early by a few moments or so, and again I would suggest that your visitors read as much material as possible. They are of course welcome to any session, but a familiarity with the material will add to the benefit that can be received by witnessing a live session; and indeed, I can be a lively one. [...]
(This morning Jane invited Dr. and Mary Piper to witness the session tonight. The doctor and his wife accepted the invitation, contingent upon whether his office was still busy at session time, and whether they could get a baby sitter.
After eight o’clock on the night of a session, Ruburt should take steps so that he is not concerned over the question of whether or not particular visitors will arrive. [...]
(Before the session, Jane had remarked that she wished Seth could, or would, let her know whether witnesses were coming. [...]
(Tonight’s session began at 9:50 PM. After supper this evening Jane expressed a desire to vary the routine, although she did not want to skip the session. [...] Jane, very amused, commented every so often that she received little “messages” from a certain party, expressing approval of our actions, and merely suggesting that we do get to the session at least a few minutes before the Instream material was due.
(As mentioned by Seth in the last session, I have begun keeping a record of outside weather data from our television weather channel. [...] This record is for session nights only; I do not know whether it is necessary to insert the data into each session. [...]
(The session was held in our front room. [...]
You probably also came to this conclusion by yourselves, and while I would not make the habit of beginning our sessions later than usual, occasionally such tardiness is more than justified. [...]
(A note: Those who are interested in material on the fluctuations of consciousness can refer to the following sessions in Seth Speaks: the 567th session in Chapter Sixteen, on the phasing of atoms in and out of our system; the 576th session in Chapter Nineteen, on alternate presents; and the ESP class session for June 23, 1970, in the Appendix, on organization in our present reality. [...]
1. Seth has some material analogous to this in the 582nd session in Chapter Twenty of Seth Speaks: “What you perceive of time is a portion of other events intruding into your own system, often interpreted as movement in space….” That session, as well as the 581st, also contains some applicable data on Seth’s electromagnetic energy (EE) units, their various speeds, and our interpretations of them as events, dream events, movement-through-time, and so forth.
(Jane’s delivery was rather slow, and her eyes were closed for much of the session.)
Your intellect is a good one but we need more than your intellect in these sessions. You become intellectually involved when you read the material directly before sessions, and it could hamper the session itself. I leave your intellectual writing life alone, though you are free to use what you have learned, so kindly keep your sometimes meddling intellect out of the sessions themselves. [...]
(Tonight our first formal witness, Bill Macdonnel, was to attend a full session. [...] Jane lay down for a rest, and gave herself positive suggestions concerning the session. [...]
[...] She didn’t hear it clearly within as she ordinarily would if it was a message from Seth before a session was to begin. Her own thought was that it indicated Bill’s arrival sometime after the session had begun.
[...] Jane was not beginning the session, either. [...] Throughout the session her voice was a bit stronger than normal, her pace rather slow, her eyes dark as usual.)
(Jane missed last week’s session because nighttimes found her so relaxed from her own healing processes that she couldn’t concentrate enough. She felt somewhat the same way before tonight’s session, but decided to try to hold it.)
(The following material is from the 779th session.
End of session, and a hearty good evening.
Ruburt has been recovering also during this session.
(Our young friends, Marilyn and Don Wilbur, visited us before the session this evening but did not stay for the session itself. With their young friend Ann Diebler, they have witnessed a very few unscheduled sessions. They have been reading some of the early material and now want to attend a regular session, so arrangements were made whereby they would witness the 247th session. [...]
(Jane knew that after Monday’s session I had looked at a road map of Wyoming; she had not done so. [...] We had been busy with our visitors before session time and I hadn’t had my mind on preparing an envelope.
(No envelope experiment was held during the session.
(We wondered whether Seth would be able to come through with the Wyoming location also, in respect to the data given in the last session. [...]
(Seth began talking about dreams as far back as the 15th session, about dream locations in the 44th session, about the subconscious and dreams in the 92nd and 93rd sessions, etc., among others.)
(In the 135th session, Seth gave me a little puzzle involving a Saturday evening and the number 5. Since then I have noted two occasions where the two conditions might apply. I have been mentioning the incidents to Jane just before session time, in case Seth cared to comment on them, but to date he hasn’t dealt with them. [...]
(Jane’s manner this evening was quite intent throughout the session. She spoke at a good rate for the most part, even with pauses, and toward the end of the session her voice became loud. [...]
[...] This is mentioned briefly in tonight’s session.
[...] To my surprise she offered to have a session on the spot—peculiarly, it hadn’t occurred to me ask her to have a session at any time earlier in the week. [...] After the session I told her that my faith in the pendulum was reinforced; that in my own way I’d have eventually understood what I was up to, but that the session cut through many obscuring byways, etc., and went straight to the core of the problem. [...]
(When the session began I began to feel almost nauseous—which is a feeling Jane has had when she deals with personal material. [...] At the same time I knew what was happening, and as the session continued the feeling subsided. When the session was over I was able to eat. [...]
(I should say here that one of the things the pendulum told me early in the week was that I was concerned because Jane wasn’t having regular sessions any more —that I felt she was missing something important in her life because of this lack. After the session I told her that having a session a week didn’t really interfere with my own routine; etc. [...]
(This session came about quite unexpectedly just before midnight, after we’d had company—the Leahys from the end of Pinnacle Road; Jane had called them at supper time this evening and asked them to visit us. [...] I’m including a few notes here to remind myself of this session’s context when I reread it in later times.
(The following material is from the 874th session. I’ll quote a few lines from the closing passages for that session in order to lead into what follows for Jane.
(“During Monday’s session I was going to ask about that dream he had—on Monday afternoon, I think. [...]
[...] The session ended after this at 10:48 pm.)
SESSION 874 (DELETED PORTION)
(We had not asked that Bill follow the material from session to session, feeling that it was for him to decide whether to pay any attention to it or not. [...]
[...] Louie has had more experience than Jane or I with ESP activities; and when in the course of conversation the question of Jane giving a session arose, Jane and I were somewhat surprised, not anticipating this, and did nothing to push agreement to such an idea. However, when we finally became convinced that a session was quite welcome to Ida, Bill and Louie, if only out of curiosity, Jane and I agreed to try to hold one.
(Here of course Seth refers to Bill and Ida, having given some information on their past lives in various sessions, many sessions ago.)
Since I will not give a session simply to give a session, and because I will not let Ruburt parade me as part of his precious subconscious, I will indeed here speak for myself, but in terms that will help another and for the benefit of that other. [...]
(The following material is taken from the 684th session for February 20, 1974. Before the session I had asked that Seth discuss Jane’s difficulty with mobility in her arms, especially of late.
[...] The morning and evening suggestions should be given, and as mentioned in the last session. [...]
There has been a breakthrough in those beliefs since the session on muscles; and for him naturally the spring, like the autumn, offers him optimum conditions for improvement in all areas.
[...] Jane agreed; as session time drew near tonight she said she thought Seth would discuss the storm, and our weather in general. Seth has had something to say about the weather in these sessions: 56, 84, 123 and 175, without going into any great detail. [...]
(No envelope test was held during the session.
(The session was held in our front room. [...]
[...] She does not know of these sessions.
[...] Seth showed us in the next session that not only animals but all living things had their primary existence in this inner world. [...] In this session, he also spoke about the consciousness of trees in such a way that I was never able to look at the trees outside of my window with the same old detachment. Through the sessions, the whole world seemed to come alive.
The entire session ran three hours, and most of it was devoted to the ego and the subconscious and to their relationship to health and illness. While Rob’s back was vastly improved since Seth’s reincarnational sessions for him, he still had some bad days now and then. [...]
The largest segment of the session dealt with personal matters connected with Rob’s earlier illness. This led Rob to wonder what had caused our three animals to die shortly before the sessions began.
Following Seth’s suggestions, Rob began doing a few simple yoga exercises, and the night before the eighteenth session he used self-hypnosis to relax his muscles. [...] Seth began to comment on this in the beginning of the next session. [...]
(With one exception, which I’ll get to later, we’ve spent another long period — 9 weeks — without holding book sessions. Seth-Jane was certainly busy on all of those Monday and Saturday nights, though, and came through with another separate series of sessions after I inserted the 806th session into Mass Events — 17 of them this time, as compared to the 10 sessions delivered before the 806th was held. Once again, these were private or nonbook sessions, and once again they covered a wide range of subjects other than personal ones.
[...] It’s the 812th session for October 1, and at least some of it is book dictation. [...] Seth gave a session on paranoia in response to that encounter [but not for the individual concerned, although Jane later wrote to him], then instructed us to lay the session aside for inclusion in a later chapter of Mass Events.
(Including the 806th session, those two blocks of material mean that in the last 20 weeks [or 4½ months], Seth has held but one session for Mass Events, and 28 on other subjects. [...]
(Finally: Just before tonight’s session Jane said she thought Seth might do some work on Mass Events. [...] [See the excerpts from Session 211, in Appendix 18 of that work.] However, Seth didn’t answer my question.)
