[...] Since it is rather involved, I will insert an account of it in the session where Seth takes note of it. This page of the session will also be used for future reference.
This will be a fairly informal session, and I am indeed aware that it is our hundredth session.
As I told you many sessions ago, I tell you once again: Our sessions are but barely beginning. [...]
We are attempting in these sessions to develop both of your abilities in many areas, while we still maintain a most necessary balance of development so that one part of you does not get top-heavy, and topple over. [...] From the beginning of our sessions you have been learning the method with which we will explore the whole self, but we have not plunged headlong into any foolhardy expeditions.
(I think tonight’s private material came through, at least in part, because I reminded Jane today of Seth’s references to her in recent private sessions. I’m referring at the moment to his comments about her embarrassment, in the early days, at earning more money than I did [see the deleted session for April 16, 1979, page 97], and that in later years the symptoms served to provide us with a sense of separation from the world, for a number of reasons [see the deleted session for April 18]. Seth has already touched upon such questions in the deleted sessions that follow, especially those for April 30 and May 2, and extends his coverage of them this evening in response to my latest queries. [...]
(This material is from the 851st session. I suggest that the regular portion of the session be read in conjunction with what follows, for the two parts complement each other well. However, I didn’t want all of the session filed under deleted material, since that other portion has good general application.
[...] I think the session could well be a very important one for both of us, and that it’s hardly a coincidence that it came along at this time. [...] That realization had to come before anything else could be done, of course—so tonight’s session and the questions we’ve been asking lately about the symptoms certainly seem to have come about at the right time.)
(For the past few days I’ve done little “creative” work, beyond working on my watercolor portrait of Mrs. Johnson, the subject of my dream of last November, for an hour or two in the mornings; then in the afternoons I’ve typed these sessions and written the required notes for the record. [...]
(See the 149th-152nd sessions for the material on moment points and time. Once again, the material on time is woven through the sessions. Seth began discussing time in the 14th session. See the sessions 120-130 for material on the electrical field and time, in Volume 3.
(An unscheduled session was held on Friday evening, December 3,1965, in our apartment. [...] The last three named are from the group of young people who witnessed the unscheduled session of November 5,1965. See the notes on page 57, preceding the 206th session. [...]
(Seth has given so much material on action that it cannot be assigned to a few sessions. It was mentioned by name before the 15th session or thereabouts. It has been especially stressed since the 120th session, and so continues.)
[...] Seth said during Friday’s unscheduled session that these two dreams are significant, and that tonight’s regular session would deal with them. [...]
(John Bradley, of Williamsport, PA, was a witness to the session. This is the first session he has attended since that of the 95th, October 7,1964. However John has visited us often since then, and is reading the sessions regularly.
(Perhaps because of the presence of a witness, Jane was nervous before the session began. [...] She spoke quite rapidly, in a voice somewhat louder and deeper than usual, and continued in this vein throughout the session. [...]
What I have been telling you this evening, and my discussions in all our sessions, all my comments, have been concerned with basic and simple facts, not alien to mankind’s nature, but more intimate to him than touch. The very fact that over one hundred and thirty sessions have been devoted to such ABC’s is, in itself, adequate proof of how mankind has indeed divorced itself from the nature of its own spirit.
I will here welcome Philip to our session. [...]
[...] After expressing a couple of reassuring thoughts for Jane, in line with his private material for Monday night’s session, Seth said good night at 10:15 P.M. “Listen, I came so close to not having this session,” Jane said. [...] I’ll bet that’s why he didn’t say it was book dictation until the end of the session….”
(Since Jane held the 922nd session a month ago, she’s given five more nonbook regular sessions. [...]
As for Jane: So many physical changes had taken place in her body today, she was so “out of it” by suppertime, that she didn’t know whether or not she could even have a session. She’d mentioned this morning that Seth might resume work on Dreams, and because of that feeling spent part of the day reviewing sessions for the book. [...]
[...] She’s spending her time with the sessions, working on her book of poetry, and painting. [...] I’ll summarize the central challenge of Jane’s life, and of my own, by presenting in Note 1 the private, or deleted, portion of the session she held last Monday night. [...]
(See the notes on page 194, preceding the 455th session for January 6, 1969, re the books Jane will write. These notes contain a brief summary of an unscheduled session held over the Xmas holidays, withSue Mullin and Carl Watkins as witnesses. [...]
(I neglected to add that after this unscheduled session, which was held at night, Jane also spoke as Ruburt. [...] See the notes on page 122, 444th session for October 30, 1968. [...]
It recognizes the answers given in the sessions as legitimate, and also that these answers involve intellectual as well as intuitional effort. The ego is pleased, for it now finds itself at the helm of a much stronger personality, and with more challenges, free to use its abilities, to question and wonder at will now that it accepts the basis of the sessions.
[...] I told him sessions ago that the poetic and psychic portions of his personality were deeply united, and now looking over his old records he knows that I was correct.
(Within an hour after the session ended, we had fifteen questions listed. We’ll write a longer list for the session on Monday, April 5.)
[...] You may take the rest of the session to make up an excellent — underlined twice (humorously), list of questions that will appear in the next, question-and-answer chapter.
Then present these to me at our next session, or one at a time, or two, as you prefer, and I will answer them. [...]
That session was well over a year ago. Our usual Seth sessions still continue, and only now and then does this other personality speak. [...] Often these sessions involve me in some kind of subjective experience, though now I am learning how to handle myself when this happens. [...] When the session resumed, I felt myself seemingly suspended, fully alert and aware—but bodiless—in space. [...]
Some of our questions were answered in the next session, our 419th on June 8, 1968. Just before the session started I began to get the pyramid effect again. [...] Then the session started. [...]
[...] The sessions, so strange at first, were a familiar part of our lives. [...] But I thought that the Seth sessions themselves would more or less remain the same. [...]
This material ran several pages, as Seth discussed the future content of our sessions. [...] Neither of us realized, even at this point, that the session would be any different from the usual. [...]
(One thing caught me unprepared, and perhaps came close to interrupting the session. [...] I am not used to speaking so steadily, although Jane later said that she too had noticed a voice stain in her first session with me, until she became more relaxed and used to the idea. [...] A glass of water handy, I thus learned, will be standard in sessions after this. [...]
[...] Often as I spoke to her I told her she would have full memory of what transpired when the session was over. When it was over, she told me her memory of parts of the session was somewhat hazy— reinforcing the idea that she was hypnotized, if somewhat imperfectly, and that my control was not all it will be in future sessions.
(Before the session I had reminded myself that if we came upon strongly emotional material I would attempt to guide Jane through it, by helping her to express it but not become overwhelmed by it should it prove very painful. This is why I had earlier told her she could remember what transpired during the session. [...]
[...] After the session Jane said she felt very relaxed, although I believe she has induced as good a state in some of her self-hypnosis sessions. [...]
(Seth began referring to mental enclosures, mental enzymes, etc., many many sessions ago, at the same time he began to give the information on the inner senses. By the time the 20th session was held these discussions of such material were in full swing.)
[...] It will be remembered that in the 63rd session, June 17,1964, Volume 2, page 159, Seth gave a date of September 2 for John, stating that on that day “plans may be born at that date which will affect his participation in his professional field.” John was a witness to that session.
[...] Seth also mentioned this in the 63rd session. See John’s map at the end of that session.
(In the 84th session, September 2, Volume 2, pages 329 and 331, Seth stated that Jane was blocking “a picture of Philip,” Philip being Seth’s name for John’s entity. Without much thought Jane and I had taken the data given on this instance to refer also to John’s September 2 date, since by coincidence the 84th session also fell due on September 2. This evening John said that he’d had no “disagreement in a kitchen, involving two women and a man, with a child close by,” on September 2. So now we wonder whether the above incident is precognition, with the actual date being blocked by Jane, or whether Jane is just plain in error.)
[...] Jane began reading yesterday’s session—doing much better than she had yesterday. [...] She was through with the session in 15 minutes. [...]
(I’m sure my improved attitude resulted from the last two sessions—plus other recent ones—but I have resolved anew that I must simply concentrate upon my creative work each day, see Jane and help her as much as I can, and spare my body consciousness the needless stress of worrying about the future. [...]
[...] I’d also said I wanted to go over the last two sessions with her, plus some older ones.)
(In the last three days I’ve learned a number of interesting things about my continuing physical upsets—and will list some of my pendulum material should any portion of this session refer to them. The deleted session for April 18 has helped a great deal. My own insights through the pendulum tell me, for example, why Seth in that last private session said I have a “nervous stomach,” but nothing about the other hassles like, say, the side or groin. [...] I still don’t want to burden Jane with a series of sessions on my own problems. [...]
[...] At my request Jane wrote her account of the non-session events of last night, and it’s attached. I noticed more signs of the same sort of relaxation before tonight’s session was due, and wondered if I could focus upon Seth clearly enough, or write fast enough. After a number of hesitations, which only confused Jane as to what I really wanted to do, I sat for the session.
(Last night April 23, Monday, Rob suddenly got super-relaxed and really floppy before our scheduled Seth session. [...] We decided not to have the session—I don’t think Rob could have taken notes anyhow; besides I wanted him to take advantage of what was happening.
(The first portion of these notes—as indicated—was written after supper on Monday night, preparatory to what I thought would be the regularly scheduled session for the evening. However, the session wasn’t held. [...]
(“I almost have the feeling that you’re not supposed to have a session tonight,” Jane said at 8:19. “It’s one of those things where you’re so relaxed you shouldn’t interrupt it—but if I don’t have a session then I’m afraid it’ll be a cop-out. [...]
Now: there are session-related events that do not necessarily appear within the sessions themselves, except as they are related through your own notes. [...]
[...] [She’d slept ‘till noon.] The material had begun to flow quite effortlessly because of her concern over what I’d written in my notes for Monday’s session, about her being unable to take care of herself physically any longer. [...]
[...] I’ll attach a copy of the Sinful Self’s material to this session if Jane ever types it in duplicate. [...]
(Jane did not feel much like having a session; she finally decided to hold one at 9 PM, and of course I left the decision up to her. She said she decided to have a session because sometimes when she didn’t feel well a great session resulted.
(A very interesting session developed tonight, also. Thinking Seth would speak as usual, I read to Jane another question that had come to mind as I typed up last session. [...] His entity held the session instead.
(The last time Seth’s entity spoke was in the 446th session for November 6, 1968. [...]
[...] See the 406th to 412th sessions for detailed material on the circumstances involving the personality we call Seth’s entity.
[...] A few weeks ago Seth gave a recorded session for the woman at the request of a member of Jane’s ESP class. [...] A few days ago Jane learned that the woman for whom the session was intended had never listened to the tape, refusing to do so even though she had requested the session.)
[...] I am always here in some way during your sessions. [...] (Pause.) Since you do appear less bouncy than usual, you may end the session; but I may stay a while now that I am here. [...]
(Jane began sitting for the session at 9:30 PM, waiting to see what would develop. [...]
[...] There is of course such action taking place in these sessions.
(After that session I checked out Peg’s notes with Barbara. [...] A man with a bristly mustache and short bristly hair was mentioned in the first part of the spontaneous session for which no notes were taken; this referred, Barb said, definitely to her father. [...]
(Now approximately six months later, she told me last night that the session had shocked her considerably. The child had been her own illegitimate child, she had not wanted to tell us this at the time and had been too surprised at the session to do anything; she had wanted to leave but hadn’t it seems been able to.
(The child was male as given in the session. [...]
(Toward the end of the session, I was in an emotional turmoil, still in trance and for this Barb told me at the time she had no explanation. [...]
(A situation developed Tuesday evening—last night—as I planned to begin typing this session. The event reinforced much of the material in the session itself, and my idea that had brought it about: As Jane and I were finishing supper last night Tom D’Orio from Binghamton visited us with two of his friends [they had a small Seth group going at home]. [...] It was around 9 PM when they finally left, and although I was getting tired I stuck to it and typed the first two pages of notes for this session while I kept in mind what I wanted to put down. [...]
[...] Yet now there’s been a change, or at least a thought about a change: “But I don’t think having a spontaneous session would be all that bad,” she said, “if by being spontaneous I got set free.” [...] In the immediate past I would have automatically been against—or at least not in favor of—such a session for relative strangers on short notice. I would have been tonight, also, had I even thought of it—that is, I would have negated such a performance until I had the chance to study the implications of my reactions, in the light of my insight of Monday night, and Seth’s excellent session following that insight. [...]
(Jane didn’t particularly look like she wanted to hold a session, though, and said she felt some resistance to the idea. [...] Eventually she called me, saying she would have the session. [...]
[...] She revealed that she’d thought of having a session for the three visitors. [...] [She’d also thought of having a session before their arrival, so that Seth could continue the material he’d started Monday; she hadn’t told me this.]
I am holding a rather brief and quiet session this evening because of the effort involved for Ruburt in our last session. It quite made up for two regular sessions, and I will not go into that subject matter at all this evening.
(Jane had no idea of the material for the session. [...] She appeared to have fully recovered from the impact of Monday’s session. [...]
[...] See the 104th session, pages 125-6. Jane has yet to receive word of a sale of any kind.
(Before the session I burdened Jane again with my hassles about my side and groin. I’d felt somewhat better after Seth’s information about those portions of my anatomy in the deleted part of the last session, the 846th, for the previous Wednesday. [...] I was really uncomfortable by session time, I told Jane. [...] She didn’t say a great deal, except that she’d try to get herself in a quiet mood in order to have the session, and hope Seth could help. [...]
[...] We thought the session was over at this point, but Seth did return a minute later for a little more material related to the body of tonight’s session. [...]
In your case, I meant to mention (in the last session) that the time of taxes has some involvement with your difficulties, for reason tells you they must be paid, while your emotions are resentful. [...]
(However, I did feel better by session’s end. [...]
[...] Except for vacations and a few rest periods, sessions should be regular for overall effectiveness. [...] However in the long run the routine itself will help develop Ruburt’s abilities further, and a larger number of excellent sessions will take place.
Spontaneous sessions may be held, but the overall routine should be continued. [...] There is even for Ruburt a certain security and comfort in this accustomed routine, that will allow him to hold some truly spectacular sessions.
This 394th session was held on February 19, 1968. At the end of the private session of December 11, 1967, I described to Jane an internal vision I’d just had, and made notes about it and a quick drawing. [...]
(The first part of this session was held for John Pitre, who telephoned Jane about a week ago from Franklin, LA, on behalf of his ill wife, Peggy.
