There is no time when the sessions should be held merely from a sense of responsibility, and the sessions could not be held merely for that reason.

Now my humor and my sense of joy are obvious. [...]

[...] Responsibility, in a certain sense, always got his back up.

The sense of fun and joy and spontaneity—all of these things are as important in the dreaming as in the waking state. [...]

[...] And you should sense within yourselves the energy that resides within your own identity and sense to some extent the unique vitality of every living organism. [...]

The physical sound that I make, the energy that you sense now is, indeed, a part of the energy that sings within the vitality of any atom and molecule. [...]

[...] Feelings of energy form the inner self were then allowed to bubble up and give you a sense of energy and a release from normal pressures. [...]

The inner senses are equipped to perceive data that is not physical. [...] Your physical senses are extensions of these inner methods of perception, and after death it is upon these that you will rely. [...]

[...] You use your inner senses when you are in the dream state, and ignore them when you are waking.

While you go about your daily chores and endeavors, beneath normal waking consciousness you are constantly focused in other realities also, reacting to stimuli of which your physical conscious self is not aware, perceiving conditions through the inner senses, and experiencing events that are not even registered within the physical brain. [...] Beginning the day with the positive suggestions will, as time progresses, reinforce Ruburt’s sense of personal energy and power, and trust of the self. [...]

[...] This is very difficult to explain, so that you avoid contradictions, but in the larger sense (underlined four times) no effort is required.

[...] Ruburt must gradually try to understand that in that larger sense no effort is required.

[...] A sense of identification particularly with the natural world lessens any feelings that you would need defenses against it.

[...] As you do so you will be able to sense your own completed version, and any word that does not fit will be instantly sensed, while another will at once slip to mind.

I used that information of Seth’s many times while working with “Unknown” Reality. Even so, I learned that on such a long-term project it’s easy to lose that acute sense of what one really wants to do and show — but I also learned how to constantly renew my focus. This presented me with what seemed like an endless series of challenges, yet I discovered again and again that I enjoyed them: Each time I sat down to work, whether on the most routine short note or the most complicated appendix, I searched for that particular, personal sense of intense concentration on the matter at hand. [...]

To me, some of the most important material in Volume 1 is Jane’s information on her sensing of other neurological pulses as they’re connected with probable events, and how she picked up those pulses by bypassing her direct, or ordinary neurological impact. [...]

[...] I hope that [in those two books] through my dictation and through Ruburt’s and Joseph’s experiences, the reader can see the greater dimensions that touch ordinary living, and sense the psyche’s greater magic. [...]

[...] Not that she thought Seth was there to be seen, but she did sense something out of the ordinary. [...]

To some extent it will also relate my own experiences, but in a larger sense I hope that it will be able to give a picture of the nature of reality as seen by someone who is not imprisoned within the three-dimensional structure. [...]

[...] After the session I told Jane that he’d said more than he realized — that in the case of predictions it would be wise of us to remind ourselves that his sense of time is indeed far different than ours, that much more time could be involved on our parts than on his. [...]

(Long pause at 4:22.) Each person impulsively tries to grow into his or her sensed potentials — even when they are not immediately apparent.

Later on in this book we will also discuss the ways in which you can use your own beliefs about the medical profession to reinforce your overall sense of health, rather than to undermine it.

[...] In sleep and dream states you do this often, correlating the newly perceived data with usual sense information, and organizing it all without a qualm. For that matter, the preciseness of your ordinary sense perception rests firmly upon this greater inner flexibility, which gives you a broad base from which to form your secure focus.

Your physical senses, again, act almost like a biological alphabet, allowing you to organize and perceive certain kinds of information from which you form the events of your world and the contours of your reality.

The inner senses operate on all planes and under all circumstances. The outer senses vary according to plane and circumstance. The outer senses are dependable only in terms of the definite system of reality for which they were constructed. [...]

[...] Material from the inner senses is seldom experienced in its true form. What you get is a hasty twisting of channels, a rather inept and sometimes rather disastrous attempt to pick up such information with the outer senses.

[...] Any such inner communications are basically the same in that they are picked up by the inner senses, whether the information seems telepathic or clairvoyant in your terms.

He kept emphasizing the inner senses. [...]

[...] In this state the attention is focused inward rather than outward, and it is the inner senses more than the outer that are being exercised. The cat is doing the same thing in his way that Jane is, and in the particular situation you are thinking of his inner senses, that is the cat’s, were focused in my direction.

The inner senses are actually the channels through which the entire composition of any particular plane is appreciated and actually maintained. It is through the inner senses that the mental enzymes are enabled to act upon the vitality which is, as I have said, the structure of the universe itself.

The inner senses in other words are the means, the mental enzymes are the tools, and the vitality is the actual material that forms the universe as a whole, the apparent divisions within it, the apparent boundaries of the various divisions, and the diverse materials within each division. Again, the different materials within each division are only camouflages formed by the inner senses upon the material itself.

The main mental enzymes create senses on the physical plane in order that they may be recognized and appreciated by the physical being. [...]

[...] (Jane indicated the living room in which we sat.) The senses serve to blot out many more aspects of reality than they allow you to perceive. They are actually rather rigid limiting devices, yet in many inner explorations you will automatically translate experience into terms that the senses can use.

[...] Only if these basic assumptions are taken for granted will your projection experiences make sense to you.

[...] You will soon learn for example to trust your perceptions, whether or not the experience seems to make logical sense.

Now there is some sense of jealousy in the family over the child that the child senses and this, also, has to do with his sense of hesitation in speech. [...]

[...] Beyond that feel yourself at one with All That Is, but retain the sense of your own ‘I’ identity. [...]

[...] They confuse his sense of loyalty and he feels that he is supposed to relate to the grandfather as a male image when he is away from you. [...]

[...] Lingering within the man you call your father there was always the sense of the unfinished. [...] You sensed it intuitively.

[...] There is always a kind of artistic dissatisfaction that any true artist feels with work that is completed, for he is always aware of the tug and pull, and the tension, between the sensed ideal and its manifestation. In a certain fashion the artist is looking for a creative solution to a sensed but never clearly stated problem or challenge, and it is an adventure that is literally unending. [...]

[...] In a sense, painting is man’s natural attempt to create an original but coherent, mental yet physical interpretation of his own reality—and by extension to create a new version of reality for his species.”

He has inhibited physical aspects in terms of decorating, etc., going out— those areas, out of a sense of duty. [...]

Tomorrow for example let him without guilt let the day be used to putter in the bedroom, play with poetry, do what comes naturally without a sense of guilt.

When the session resumed, as Seth I picked up Bill’s second sketch and said, “This picture represents an outward transformation as Mark attempted to construct an accurate replica of material that he sensed with the Inner Senses, and as such it is a reconstruction of what I am.

[...] When I fell in love with Rob, my joy served to double the underlying sense of tragedy I felt, as if death mocked me all the more by making life twice as precious. [...]

[...] … Matter is only cohesive enough to give the appearance or relative permanence to the senses that perceive it.

[...] Each individual actually creates an entirely different object, which his own physical senses then perceive. [...]

Your reactions the other night, Joseph, had to do with two things; this sense of unjustified inferiority with your own ability to deal with the outside world, hence your physical immobility and back spasm; and with a superficial, rationalizing and false protective measure that operates intellectually in your case, making you think that outside conditions are so stupid that you refuse to do anything to alleviate them, feeling that the situation is so ridiculous that nothing you could do would change it. This is a rationalization to cover up the underlying, completely false sense of inferiority.

[...] It would involve however the utilization of most, if not all, inner senses, operating as a whole cognizance field. [...]

[...] The inner senses provided him with much, but nevertheless the ideas contained represented an achievement of the conscious mind. [...]

First of all personally: You, Joseph, have acquired an unjustified sense of inferiority as far as not only your dealings with your parents are concerned, but also concerning your dealings with the outside world; and even, for what unknown reason, with your dealings with your own talent.

[...] The body senses your fear, looks for the source in the immediate environment of the moment so that it can suitably react to protect you—but it senses no immediate difficulty. [...]

[...] With the writing I sought to make sense of everything at least intellectually, but for the moment at least, I thought, this left untouched what seemed to be the more powerful emotional tangle of beliefs. [...]

[...] You did not think of yourself as an adolescent when you were one, for example, so follow that fine good sense now. [...]

[...] Besides the outer senses that you take for granted, you have inner senses. [...] You must learn how to use, develop and recognize these inner senses. [...]

[...] You have senses which you have not been using, and I invite you now to use them. [...]

[...] I ask you to sense within yourselves the energy in this voice that you hear, to realize that this energy is also a portion of your own energy—the energy of individuality, the energy of the universe, the energy that grows you from a fetus to the self that you know. [...]

[...] You are operating at a high level of awareness, and using the inner senses. These enable you to perceive an added depth of dimension which is responsible for the vividness and sense of exhilaration that often occurs within the kind of dream. [...]

[...] To make sense to us as physical creatures, any “truth” must undergo transformations, be couched in certain terms or we couldn’t understand it. [...]

[...] You should experience at this point an internal sense of motion. [...]

[...] It serves no purpose to include all of the many dreams of this nature that I recorded — dreams in which I managed to regain my critical senses, sometimes only to fall back into normal dreaming and sometimes to embark upon conscious experiments. [...]
