(Our difficulties made themselves known with a vengeance when I pushed Jane into the bathroom in her chair after 10:30 PM: because for the first time, she failed to be able to get up from her seat on the john, and back to her chair as I stood waiting. [...]

(So this morning, Tuesday, I also carried her to the toilet seat, and once more she was quite relieved. [...]

The self is indeed blessed, and just the reminder of that fact can often short-circuit negative beliefs, particularly if they are not too deep-seated.

The driver of our wheel in this case never appears in the seat that faces physical reality. [...]

There are no other reasons than those given but these are longstanding and deep-seated.

The woman directly behind our friends’ seat may have a child with her. If so a female child, but there is no man in that seat.

A small boy several seats ahead.

Theater-type chairs rather than seats.
