(This afternoon Jane received a royalty check from Prentice-Hall for $819.00, covering sales to June 30 of The Seth Material, hard and soft cover, and the first copies of Seth Speaks. [...]

(Pause.) Ruburt can give you whatever business statements you require concerning the sale of his books. [...]

[...] The publicity may include adds in the New York Times Book Review; surveys taken by the publisher show the book should have a good reception and sale. [...] Summing up, the publisher told Jane that once the ESP book is on the market and her name begins to be known through publicity, it will help the sales of future books considerably—namely the Seth material.

[...] I do not know whether this represents sales, or sale, on Ruburt’s part or not. [...]

[...] The recent sale of Oversoul Seven to an English publishing house for an unbelievable $100, and Prentice’s recent notice to us of a possible sale of Seth Speaks for translation and publishing by a German house for only $300 bothered me greatly; I just couldn’t believe that so little money was available in Europe, no matter what Prentice told us. (In the last session, 372nd, October 16, 1967, Seth predicted good sales for Jane’s ESP book. [...]

Ruburt’s (very relaxed) condition today was the result of Friday’s news (about the very good sales of all of Jane’s books), and the body was ridding itself of a tension. [...]

Sumari, particularly in the beginning, and poetry in general were dubious from a work-sales standpoint, and therefore suspect in writing time.

[...] We don’t know why the delay, but the batch makes up for what we’d taken to be a drop in the volume of mail over the last month; Jane had worried about falling sales, or some such thing. [...]

[...] Seth mentioned no time limit concerning the sale.

[...] It will be remembered that Seth had something to say about Jane’s sales of short stories and books in the 104th session. [...]

[...] The woman could not win out in tales for Playboy, so when Ruburt thinks in that fashion about work, he thinks he is not only not slanting his material for the market, but often telling people precisely what they may not want to hear at all—hence this would arouse worries about the sale of the books.

[...] After all, we do have money; money also is due from her father’s estate, royalties, Rich Bed eventually, and the sale of paperback rights by Prentice-Hall; ESP class also helps—Jane said she enjoys the class. [...]

[...] This sort of news always surprises us, I guess, because we must be more isolated than we know; also, the sales aren’t all that great, so I always wonder just what the person bases such statements on when making them. [...]

There will indeed be a welcome sale on Ruburt’s part. [...]

[...] Interesting, that Frank Corio had been instrumental in bringing the Millers back to their favorite neighborhood, when in a city the size of Elmira there are at any time a number of homes for sale in “desirable” neighborhoods, including “ours.”

(The mail from Prentice-Hall is increasing considerably, whether or not this is in line with Seth’s recent statement that an increase in sales of the books is under way. [...]
