[...] In Ruburt’s case last January 10th the split was of the conscious level. Since Ruburt was unaware of causing the dissociation to begin with, he was unable to find his blundering way out.

[...] It is as if in Ruburt’s great experience the other night that the dissociated part of the personality donned another identity and battled with Ruburt’s own for dominance.

I do not intend to let Ruburt in on any of my plans or intentions, as far as demonstrations are concerned. [...] If Ruburt had known what was in my mind, he would have been nervous and self-conscious.

At this point it would be difficult for Ruburt to know of the possibility of such a demonstration before any particular session. I am not ruling out for now any foreknowledge on Ruburt’s part.

[...] I am saying that I do not want Ruburt’s consciousness involved beforehand, and the nervous strain on Ruburt’s part of wondering how such events will come to pass must also be avoided.

That led you, just below normal consciousness, to consider the relationship between father and daughter, and then to think of Ruburt’s father, Del. [...]

This also signified your knowledge on other levels that Ruburt was becoming free of any negative beliefs that were the result of his relationship with his father.

[...] Those feelings were also representative of Del’s redeemed love for his daughter — for Ruburt.

[...] When Ruburt left that system intellectually some of the old bonding power remained, the emotional glue, but he no longer believed in the indulgences, the sacraments and so forth, so the Sinful Self was left fairly isolated, still believing to some extent that to “be good” it must be bad, but without the releases of guilt once provided by churchly help and belief. [...] For some time there was no direct challenge, however, made to the Sinful Self once Ruburt left the church. [...]

Without going into reincarnational information just now: from this life Ruburt got into the habit of not physically expressing emotion. [...]
