This psychological framework obviously must be receptive. [...]

(By way of contrast, I want to add here that this week Jane has been notified by Prentice-Hall of their most enthusiastic reception of her children’s book, Emir. Not only that, it appears that Prentice-Hall may have found at the same time the ideal illustrator for the work; black-and-white copies of sample illustrations have been sent to Jane, done by the female artist, with Tam’s assurances that the color is brilliant.

(Jane’s impressions are in Roman type, like Seth’s. While giving the data she was able to speak to me and describe her subjective state also, without breaking the thread of her reception.

5. Jane used an imaginary musical analogy in describing her sleep-state experience with “mental earphones” — but here are two psychic events of hers that can serve as real-life analogies: 1. Her reception 10 months ago, while asleep, of multidimensional data from Seth, which she followed the next day with her own material on neurological pulses; see Appendix 4 in Volume 1. 2. Her hearing Seth’s thunderous voice in her sleep two months ago, as described in the opening notes for the 710th session.

[...] I knew they were due out soon, but slipped up in my own awareness that their publication could—would cause her additional problems; my opinion was based on her paper of last December, in which she wrote that from its very inception she had been concerned about the reception Mass Events would be accorded by various elements of the public.

I might add that if the York Beach adventure was a strong sign for us of psychic development to come (even if we weren’t able to interpret much of it at first), then Jane’s reception a month later of her manuscript, Idea Construction, was another; and that experience contained obvious psychic elements. [...]

[...] Your state of mind and receptivity will be communicated to him and serve as a beckoning area that he will recognize. [...]

[...] She has reported this dual reception on a few occasions before, and as before she said she was able to give voice to but one level at a time.

[...] After 10:19: “To the extent that you are open and receptive, you can benefit greatly by the various experiences of your probable selves … often what seems to you to be an inspiration is a thought experienced but not actualized on the part of another self … Ideas that you have entertained and not used may be picked up in this same manner by other probable you’s. Each of these probable selves considers itself the real you, of course, and to any one of them you would be the probable self; but through the inner senses each of you are aware of your part in this gestalt.”

[...] Additionally, Jane could have chosen the present relationship to eventually help her temper her reception of and reaction to the Seth material, making her extra-cautious; this, even though she’d seen to it ahead of time that she would be born with that certain combination of fortitude and innocence necessary for her to press on with her chosen abilities. [...]

[...] The passivity and receptivity as a necessary prerequisite for our work, the independence as a necessary prerequisite to offset the early chosen environment, and also as an aid in dealing with physical communications.

(Again, Jane’s reception of these answers was not in the manner of delivery by Seth; merely that she had the answers pop into her mind.
