[...] I told Jane it would be a joke if those portions of the self we’re blaming for her condition, really are the truest, most simple and honest portions after all, and that their roles in bringing about her natural death were being subverted by our conscious-mind meddling and interference. [...]

[...] The question was really based upon our belief, indeed our certainty, that everything in nature is intentional and useful; therefore dreams must fulfill important roles in peoples’ lives—but how, in ordinary terms? [...]

There are so many other elements involved in human nature that I do not really want to point out any culprits, yet male-segregated communities are obviously notorious for encouraging that kind of behavior. [...]

I didn’t feel this way in the beginning, but I was really furious that he didn’t tell us the results of the tests; all those hours seemed to be going down the drain. One night, really angry at not hearing from him, I did go with Rob to a nearby bar—only to rush home at the last minute so as not to miss the session!

This test was funny, really, because Seth was doing beautifully on his own. [...]

2. Our “new” hill house is really 21 years old. [...]

[...] It is really futile to question whether the universe came from a big boom (again emphatically, humorously), or is constantly expanding (though in those terms I have said it continually expands, as an idea or a dream does). [...]

Before we can really study the nature of health or illness, we must first understand human consciousness and its relationship with the body.

The imagination usually gives you a pretty good picture of what you really want. [...]

(The strange thing here was that by now even I realized that Seth could do just what he said he could, that he still had not hit the top of his, or Jane’s, ability to produce a really stunning effect. [...]

Further, Jane and I believe that what really happens during a “past-life regression” under hypnosis is that the subject (aside from any responses given to the hypnotist’s own witting or unwitting suggestions) very cosily views his or her previous lives from the comfort and safety of a present existence. [...]

[...] Both of us have had our psychic expressions (really isolated episodes) involving what can be called simultaneously existing reincarnational selves, and we’ve published accounts of a few of these. [...]

[...] This approach would very nicely eliminate having to deal with one’s “karma” this time around—should there really be a system of consciousness embodying that ancient concept. [...]

I don’t really think we can conceive of anything to be truly “alien,” though, so I use the word here only to lead into the next of Seth’s larger concepts that I want to mention: that of probable realities, or probabilities, as Jane and I usually say. [...]

(I’ve never really forgotten that statement of almost six months ago, nor Seth’s saying at the end of the 699th session that he’d go into my questions about it “when your material will fit.”

(She couldn’t really describe them now, Jane said, but she’d had “great, hilarious, emotional feelings” when she delivered the part of the session about my thinking that selling paintings made me a prostitute. [...]
