(Being individualists, then, as I wrote in the Introductory Notes for Volume 1, we don’t concentrate upon whatever parallels exist between Seth’s concepts on the one hand and those of Eastern religious, philosophical, and mystical doctrines on the other; while we know of such similarities, we’re just as aware of how different from them Seth’s viewpoint can be, too. I added that even though we have no interest in putting down other approaches to inner reality, still we’re firm believers in the “inviolate nature of the individual consciousness, before, during, and after physical existence, in ordinary terms.”¹ So, here, we leave it up to the reader to make the intuitive and overt connections between Seth’s philosophy and the material Jane wrote today. 5. In the 685th session for Volume 1, Seth stated that the consciousnesses of our cells are eternal, and that biologically we’re equipped to explore many more probable realities than we know. In the 686th session he discussed our cells’ comprehension of the past, present, and future, as well as our cellular responses to a variety of neurological pulses besides that certain range we’re egotistically focused upon. [...] Again we were accompanied by a real estate agent; because of insurance regulations we’re not allowed to have a key to the place yet, although we’ve been told that this dilemma will be resolved very soon. [...]

These figures can hardly be definitive in any sense, however; they’re meant only to point out some interesting directions for study, involving groups and the various families of consciousness to which their members may belong. [...]

[...] A month later he offered more insights on his own reality — the kind of information we’re always interested in acquiring (as I wrote in Note 7 for the 733rd session). [...]

(“I almost have the feeling that you’re not supposed to have a session tonight,” Jane said at 8:19. “It’s one of those things where you’re so relaxed you shouldn’t interrupt it—but if I don’t have a session then I’m afraid it’ll be a cop-out. [...]

“Actually,” she continued much more emphatically now, as we discussed her rather mild comments about the other Seths, “I’m deeply outraged that some people who considered themselves ‘followers’ of mine or Seth can so easily fool themselves when they claim to be speaking for Seth—be so blind to their own motives, or not recognize the fact that they’re taking advantage of people. They’re also using my work to validate their own….”)

[...] I told Jane it would be a joke if those portions of the self we’re blaming for her condition, really are the truest, most simple and honest portions after all, and that their roles in bringing about her natural death were being subverted by our conscious-mind meddling and interference. [...]

(At the end of her outburst about reading, Jane ended up by saying something important — that her failure to read was another example of her doing something wrong — “And that’s what we’re talking about, isn’t it? [...]

(“This doesn’t mean we’re avoiding the problem, does it?”)

[...] Traces of my chest discomfort, re Leonard, had also come upon me at times. [...]

(Jane asked that I read her some Seth material, so I picked the last nine sessions — starting with our new resolve and intent on July 30, after the long layoff since July 4. They’re all short sessions, but now carry all of our hopes for the future, and so far have been paying off. [...]

(I wanted more data re the car’s trouble and cure, but wasn’t sure it was a good idea to ask Jane more specific questions at this time. [...]

[...] I spent a little time explaining to her how a car operates, in the hope that this more specific knowledge would help her relay Seth’s data re the Ford in a future session.)
