What magicians we all are,
turning darkness into light,
transforming invisible atoms
into the dazzling theater
of the world,
pulling objects,
(people as well
as rabbits)
out of secret
microscopic closets,
turning winter into summer,
making a palmful of moments
disappear through time’s trap door.

(I added that a great attraction here in recent years has been my ever-growing appreciation of the glimpses I get of the wildlife in the area, from the deer to the geese, rabbits, chipmunks, ‘coons, dogs, cats and what-have-you. [...]

Producing
from it’s magical bag
of tricks,
one marvelous form
of life after another,
fish,
bird,
monkey,
man
(not just one dove
or rabbit)
with a skill and swiftness
so astute
that our wise men think
one turns into the other!
