(When Jane did begin speaking for Seth, her voice had an extra energy and impetus, a somewhat stronger and deeper tone; obviously something had been added; these hard-to-describe qualities were present for most of the session.)

[...] On the other hand they followed a different kind of development, primarily a mental and psychic one that carried them into another kind of experience so different as to be alien in quality and degree.

[...] A quality that you think of as stable now is not. [...]

([John:] “What did you mean when you said the quality is not stable?”)

As the various qualities of the Lumanians are still present in your psychic atmosphere, as their cities still coexist in land areas now called your own, so other probable identities coexist with the identities you now call your own. [...]

Tam instantly saw the quality in our work, and Ruburt’s. In the beginning only his enthusiasm sold our first book. [...]

An ordinary, reputable publisher does not know what to do with a Jane Roberts who produces a Seth of another reality—books on her own also, and books moreover of quality.

[...] This particular quality means that they resist forming any kind of organization, even though such an organization might help in answering the mail. [...]

Each personality has within it the ability not only to gain a new type of existence in the environment — in your case in physical reality — but to add creatively to the very quality of its own consciousness, and in so doing to work its way through the specialized system, breaking the barriers of reality as it knows it.

[...] This does not mean that you cannot travel to other planets, for example, within that physical universe, any more than it means that you cannot use tables to hold books, glasses, and oranges (as our coffee table did at that moment), although the table has no solid qualities of its own.

[...] You fear abandonment for that reason, since you are meant to develop individually while also interacting with others, that interaction giving you the peculiar quality of established civilizations. [...]

The point at which such a situation happens is of course internal, and it may or may not have anything to do with the quality of material, but with its nature. [...]

The people who died were idealists — perfectionists of exaggerated quality, whose very desire for the good was tainted and distorted by those beliefs just mentioned. [...]

[...] They may have attended colleges — but they are the first to realize that such advantages do not necessarily add to the quality of life, for they are the first to arrive at such an enviable position.

(9:50.) The entire premise is highly faulty, for the species deals with value fulfillment and quality, as do all forms of life, and not with mere physical reproduction. [...]

[...] Because you have not seen yourselves clearly, you cannot see or judge the difference in your quality of thought from your early adult years, for example, or perceive what you have learned. [...]

[...] Clues as to our creativity and the nature of our existence can be found there and from it emerges the organizational qualities of normal consciousness as we know it.

To sum up Seth’s somewhat amused comments in the 12th session for January 2, 1964: “Sex, regardless of all your fleshy tales, is a psychic phenomenon, merely certain qualities which you call male and female. The qualities are real, however, and permeate other planes as well as your own. [...]

(To me, both photographs had a certain mysterious quality that I’d often found intriguing — an aura due partly to their being old, personal, and so irreplaceable, I suppose. [...]

[...] My real fascination, however, lies with what I call the greatly enhanced consciousness, or energy, that she displays in the sessions — and always I sense an even more powerful flow of that quality just beneath the surface of her delivery. [...]

[...] Should she do so, it would certainly be a history of one person’s long efforts to grapple as fully as possible — and not always successfully — with her own human qualities. [...]

[...] The true variety and depth of the various realities and personalities she reaches are qualities that are uniquely hers, and they often defy the written word.)

(Once again now, Jane wondered why the “more elaborate or complicated qualities” of her trances [she couldn’t really explain what she meant here] were necessary in order for her to deliver this book, as opposed to the “easier” ones she’d experienced for Personal Reality. I suggested she forget such comparisons and think that “Unknown” Reality simply required a different approach, for whatever subjective reasons, and that perhaps her constant questioning would be taken care of as her work on it progressed.⁵

[...] Some scientists say now that the familiar “vibrations” mediums talk about represent or approximate this quality. [...]
