“Seth material” search engine (Jane Roberts)

During this session hiatus I’ve been spending much time upon a series of letters to the publishers of Seth Speaks in Switzerland and in the Netherlands, as well as to those in charge at Prentice-Hall.¹ Last Saturday night we had a very interesting meeting with a psychologist from New York City. [...]

With all due respect, your friend [the psychologist] is, with the best of intentions, barking up the wrong psychological tree. [...]

Our visiting psychologist left us a couple sets of the tests Seth referred to. [...]

[...] He is in a way a different kind of psychologist, examining the nature of psychological reality from different viewpoints. [...]

[...] Simply that the whole hassle Jane and I are involved in first showed itself—clearly—when we met with Instream in Oswego, and encountered the disbelieving young nameless psychologist. [...]

[...] Later I thought that I should have asked Seth what kind of interpretation of the dream a conventional psychologist would have given. [...]

Many psychiatrists and psychologists now realize that a disturbed client (long pause) cannot be helped sufficiently unless the individual is considered along with his or her relationship to the family unit.

We identify with our bodies, as indeed the psychologists tell us that we must. [...] This is the orthodox view of many scientists and psychologists.

As to who or what Seth is, his term “energy essence personality” seems as close to the answer as anyone can get. I don’t believe he is a part of my subconscious, as that term is used by psychologists, or a secondary personality. [...]

[...] The psychologist, the priest, the physicist, the philosopher or the guru, can explain your own psyche to you only insofar as those specialists can forget that they are specialists, and deal directly with the private psyche from which all specializations come.

Individuals can go from psychologist to psychologist, from self-therapy to self-therapy, always with the same question: “What is wrong?” The question itself becomes a format through which experience is seen, and itself represents one of the main reasons for all limitations, physical, psychic or spiritual. [...]

[...] I assure you however that in any discussion with your psychologists on this matter, I shall hold my own. [...]

[...] But you speak of proof, and your psychologists speak of proof. [...]

[...] And as a practical personality (loud) I am as sly as any psychologist ever thought of being. [...]

[...] But the ESP books we’d read all advised that anyone having such experiences contact a qualified psychologist or parapsychologist.

[...] Could the psychologists tell us? [...]

[...] But with the envelope tests we weren’t trying to convince scientists or psychologists of anything. [...]

Trying to prove the existence of telepathy and clairvoyance to a self-professed “hard-nosed psychologist,” sell fiction to one of the best magazines in the country, and conduct our own tests in the Seth sessions was rather a bit to take on in one year—as I discovered.

[...] For weeks after her admittance in April, I didn’t know if Jane would ever do any “psychic” work again, but three months later she surprised me by beginning a series of dialogues similar to the “world-view” material she’d produced for her books on the psychologist and philosopher William James, and the artist Paul Cézanne. [...] Then, after it became obvious that the Seth sessions were going to continue, we kept constant check on my personality characteristics and went to a psychologist — as any sane, red-blooded American would do under such circumstances in those days. Seth seemed far more mature and well-balanced than the psychologist, so finally I stopped worrying. [...]

Your psychologists are dealing with one-dimensional psychology at their best. [...]
