My last private session applies strongly.

(More intently:) When dream information is also considered a social asset, or even a political one, when it is seen as one of the many tools of assessing private and national probabilities, then dream recall and interpretation becomes highly prominent, and can be raised to the highest of arts. [...]

The Christ drama is a case in point, where private and mass dreams were then projected outward into the historical context of time, and then reacted to in such a way that various people became exterior participants—but in a far larger mass dream that was then interpreted in the most literal of physical terms. [...] The entire idea of nuclear power was first a dream—an act of the imagination on the part of private individuals—and then through fiction and the arts a dream on the part of many people. [...]

[...] The probabilities are still surging, of course, and in private and mass dreams people try out all kinds of endings for that particular story.

At the beginning of these notes I wrote that three months passed after Jane finished Chapter 10 of Dreams before she held her next session—a private one—on November 9. In that short session Seth sought to add his reassurances to Jane’s own, and to mine as well.¹⁰ On the 12th Columbia was launched as scheduled, but only after another delay caused by the failure of an electronic decoding unit. [...] In the meantime, on the evening of the 12th, following his suggestion that she resume the sessions on a twice-weekly basis, Jane spoke for Seth in another private session. [...]

[...] Since then she’s given but two short private sessions, on November 9 and 12. [...]

[...] However, she hadn’t had a session, regular or private, in over 10 weeks [since August 13], so on October 27 she recorded in her journal the continuance of her daily creative struggles: “And once again I’m way behind in sessions and writing. [...]

In private living and in so-called evolutionary terms, however, life necessitates the intrusion of surprising events, unforeseen actions, leaps of insight or behavior that could not come alone from any accumulation of knowledge or simple conservation of energy, but seem to suggest entirely different new developments.

Privately this is when human beings find themselves aware of greater illumination, when they make sudden decisions and experience new strengths. [...] There will then be great planetary changes in terms of your organizations, but these will reflect private interior illuminations that become physically materialized. [...]

[...] Privately, they often involve illuminations and sudden advantageous decisions. [...]

The private letters, while indeed private, are in a strange fashion also a public outpouring of emotions, for those people of course make up the public. [...]

Some people write to you in their triumphs and in their despairs, giving you, all-in-all, a library of unique, private reading matter, capsule biographies of the people of your time and country. [...]

Of late, I hear more and more from you both in your private discussions, in which you voice opinions to the effect that overall man can hope to learn little—that the individual can only do so much, that you can at best glimpse the most minute portion of knowledge. [...]

But that simple statement also means that our dream work relative to Jane’s challenges has often been powerfully abetted by Seth in many of the 347 completely private and 159 partially private sessions he’s given us since November 1965. [...]

As Jane wrote in Chapter 1 of The World View of Paul Cézanne: A Psychic Interpretation (1977): “Seth maintains that each of us forms a psychic world view, composed of our own ideas, feelings, and beliefs, as we encounter our private corner of reality.” [...]

[...] Yet I like lines like: “Let the dirge be heard, sweeping all things before it,” and: “I’ve developed a sense of death, when someone takes a few steps off the known path almost unknowing,” and: “I breathed in the public air and it became private.” [...]

[...] In a recent private session (for May 10) Seth told us: “The gland is activating itself by itself—off and on, so to speak, giving a sputtering effect. [...]

[...] Again, impulses are doorways to action, satisfaction, the exertion of natural mental and physical power, the avenue for your private expression — the avenue where your private expression intersects the physical world and impresses it.

(Monday night’s session is a private one.

Since holding the last [897th] book session nine days ago, Jane has delivered three remarkable private sessions for Seth.¹ Tonight she was quite at ease, and had been tempted to skip the session and just paint. [...]

1. We called those three very penetrating sessions private, or deleted, because they grew out of our own reactions to David Yoder’s challenges, to the illness of our cat Billy, to the playful antics of Billy’s littermate Mitzi, and to several other personal matters. [...]

[...] The range of consciousness involved is obviously physically oriented, yet within it there are great varieties of consciousness, each experiencing that seemingly objective world from a private perspective. [...]

[...] You will instead pick up at best the ghost images, probabilities, and private data that are not officially recognized as part of the main reality’s official structure of events.

[...] Intrinsically the psyche, the private psyche, contains all such programs and realities. [...]

[...] The private psyche is ever creative, actually — expansive and literally without beginning or end.

Practically speaking, some soreness was to be expected, because of mass and private beliefs about the body. [...]

(While looking for a private session for Sue Watkins yesterday I came across the one dated April 12, 1971. [...]

[...] If Ruburt understands that, then he will realize he does not have to protect himself privately or socially, for all of his characteristics are meant to help him deal successfully with the challenge he has chosen. [...]

[...] This is an example however of the way in which your private and joint beliefs operate in a given area. [...]

[...] Your work together with my book will be of great private and joint benefit; and continue with your lists on beliefs. [...]

The very fact that you work together at the book brings your private and joint beliefs together for examination. [...]

[...] Since I am not sure which of the two women, the mother or aunt, is involved, this information from my statement to you, should remain private. [...]

[...] For your private information, middle or late March… I do not know whether this is the woman’s death (open eyes, pointing at me), but it is an event involving death of a woman (gestures) close to the wife, you see?

[...] At the end of the private session of December 11, 1967, I described to Jane an internal vision I’d just had, and made notes about it and a quick drawing. [...]

I have thus far stayed clear of many important and vital subjects, involving mass realities, because first of all the importance of the individual was to be stressed, and his power to form his private events. Only when the private nature of reality was emphasized sufficiently would I be ready to show how the magnification of individual reality combines and enlarges to form vast mass reactions — such as, say, the initiation of an obviously new historical and cultural period; the rise or overthrow of governments; the birth of a new religion that sweeps all others before it; mass conversions; mass murders in the form of wars; the sudden sweep of deadly epidemics; the scourge of earthquakes, floods, or other disasters; the inexplicable appearance of periods of great art or architecture or technology.

Give us a moment… Inner reality and private experience give birth to all mass events. [...] His culture, his religion, his psychologies, and his psychological nature together form the context within which both private and mass events occur. [...]

A person’s private experience happens in the context of his psychological and biological status, and basically cannot be separated from his religious and philosophical beliefs and sentiments, and his cultural environment and political framework —

[...] It is also true that part of the species dies with each death, and is reborn with each birth, and that each private death takes place within the greater context of the existence of the entire species. [...]

[...] I’ll summarize the central challenge of Jane’s life, and of my own, by presenting in Note 1 the private, or deleted, portion of the session she held last Monday night. [...]

[...] The emotional reaches of his subjective life, then, leapt far beyond what you think of as private experience. [...]

(Long pause.) A person’s identity was private, in that man always knew who he was. [...]

(Long pause at 10:20.) In a kind of emotional magnification unknown to you, each person’s private emotions were given an expression and release through nature’s changes — a release that was understood, and taken for granted. [...]

Dictation: In connection with the creation of the universe, and with the creation of public and private events alike, let us for a moment consider a different kind of myth.

[...] The child who gets the mumps with a large number of his classmates, however, knows he has his private reasons for joining into such a mass biological reality, and usually the adult who “falls prey” to a flu epidemic has little conscious awareness of his own reasons for such a situation. The results, appearing initially in that now-yellowed handwritten script, made him initially see that he had chosen the events of his life in one way or another, and that each person was not the victim but the creator of those events that were privately experienced or jointly encountered with others.

[...] Your private information about the world is not nearly as private as you suppose, therefore, for behind the experience of any one event, each of you possesses information pertaining to other dimensions of that same event that you do not ordinarily perceive.
