(Seth’s deleted material this evening is very brief, but it’s presented separately so that the notes that follow can be presented in our private material. [...]

[...] This provides a clear focus in which “present” action can be considered. [...]

There are traces in your present experience of your probable selves, even as there are signs in each individual of all the great talents shown and developed so flamboyantly by a few. [...]

[...] In each individual case the options will be different, of course, yet you can draw into your present life some knowledge and intimate connection with your own probable realities.

[...] The reasons for maladies are almost always present in current life experience (long pause) — and even though old events from childhood may have originally activated unhealthy behavior, it is present beliefs that allow old patterns of activity to operate.

Each life, regardless of its nature, possesses it own unique vantage point, and an individual may sometimes take an obscure or a long-lasting disease simply to present himself or herself with experience that most others would shun. [...]

[...] The aspects of your personality as you presently understand them will be retained. [...]

(10:50.) If you think, however, that the self as you know it is the end or summation of yourself, then you also imagine your soul to be a limited entity bounded by its present ventures in one life alone, to be judged accordingly after death on the performance of a few paltry years.

[...] A completely different kind of focus was presented, in which the ancestors were understood to contribute to the “new” experience of the living; one in which the physically focused consciousness clearly saw itself as perceiving the world for itself, but also for all of those who had gone before — (gradually louder for emphasis:) while realizing that in those terms he or she would contribute as well as the generations past.

[...] (Slowly and quietly:) Your present idea of identity is maintained only because you grant as valid such small aspects of your own reality.

[...] You have “another line” of existence that also serves as a support for the one that you presently recognize. [...]

[...] The leaves now present are biologically valid, interrelating in your terms. [...]

[...] They have been accompanied by sensations of heat, sweating, and soreness, though not all of these symptoms were present in each relaxation. [...]

[...] There is no doubt of the many improvements, made up of a series of inner improvements that do not show as yet, except as the time element presents itself—i.e., he gets over here (apartment 5) quicker and easier.

Those joints are definitely being loosened, and the unevenness sometimes presented in walking is the result of new balances being set up gradually as the knees are released. [...]

[...] The soreness in the joints will now begin to diminish simply because the first activation was bound to present some friction as the joints began to move from a state of relative rigidity. [...]

(10:39.) Simply as an analogy, look at it this way: Your present universe is a mass-shared dream, quite valid — a dream that presents reality in a certain light; a dream that is above all meaningful, creative, based not upon chaos (with a knowing look), but upon spontaneous order. [...]

[...] It presents a parallel noncorporal existence, so to speak, that your brain does not register. [...]

(10:35.) Give us a moment … The true scientist understands that he must probe the interior and not the exterior universe; he will comprehend that he cannot isolate himself from a reality of which he is necessarily a part, and that to do so presents at best a distorted picture. [...]

[...] Within it are a few hints about certain more general aspects of her abilities, and those can be presented here. [...]

(From here on I’ll start occasionally presenting excerpts from a few of the sessions Jane has delivered in her ESP class.²⁵ I’ve saved some of this material for a considerable time. More often than not I wasn’t present when Seth produced his material, and in all cases it was recorded by students; Jane meets with them on Tuesday evening, when I’m usually occupied typing Monday night’s private session [or book material, often] from my own notes.

[...] With a smile: “Viewing a historical moment through your marvelous television, you can refer to much that has passed, [but] one minute of such a referral costs you one minute of present time. Also you end up short-changed: You give up your precious moment in the present, but you do not have a complete (my emphasis) moment in the past to show for it … When I refer back to myself, I do not expend an identical moment of time in doing so.”

(I finally decided that the best way to present the variety of material desired, whether from Seth, Jane, or myself, was in chronological order, letting a composite picture emerge as the work progresses. [...]

(Then to me, later yet in the session:) … and as a woman [when I knew you], you certainly put your present wife to shame as far as vanity was concerned!

“Your time—past, present, and future—as you conceive it, would be experienced entirely as present to many of these personalities. However, your past, present, and future would be experienced entirely as past to still other personality structures.

“Obviously such personalities need far more than the neurological systems with which you are presently equipped. [...] Many other personality structures do not need a materialized perceptive framework such as this, but an inner psychic organization is always present.

[...] Past, present, and future appear highly convincing and logical when there must be a lapse between each perceived experience.

[...] Such a personality is able not only to react to and appreciate Event A, say, in your present time, but to experience and understand Event A in all of its ramifications and probabilities.

[...] The choice is dependent upon your choices in both past and present. These choices, however, are based upon your changing perceptions of past and present. [...]

[...] The mind, as opposed to the brain, perceives in terms of a spacious present. Therefore, it draws its associations not only from your present and past but also from your future.

[...] This particular book is a case in point: even before it existed in its present form, I was kept informed of publisher’s decisions toward it. [...]

[...] It didn’t occur to me that these two manuscripts could have anything to do with the dream interpretation because they were in the present rather than in the future. [...]

[...] Without that pause — in which man can remember past in the present, and envisage a future — natural guilt would have no meaning. Man would not be able to recall past acts, judge them against the present situation, or imagine the future sense of guilt that might result.

Natural guilt is also highly connected with memory, and arose hand in hand with mankind’s excursion into the experience of past, present and future. [...]

Presently you have a condition in which overpopulation is compensated for by wars (pause), and if not by wars then by diseases. [...]

Because of the present situation, where the man in your present life is a mere lad, the dream then changed levels. [...] The first symbol was built around Ruburt’s dreams, which involved a female symbol; that is, the present Ruburt interpreted vessel as tub, hence washing machine, the leaking vessel becoming a leaking washing machine.

[...] We discussed various alternatives, finally deciding that Jane would sleep for at least half an hour before a session whether witnesses were due or not, and whether they were present or not. [...]

[...] In the dream the lad’s present mother is seen to comfort you, this being a way to relieve the past uneasiness that at a certain subconscious area still lingers. [...]

But though you met both the present Dick and Loren, neither of you knew what your relationship would be in this life. [...]

[...] Pat (Arnold), who has not attended lately, psychically is present. [...] In those terms Pat, who did not attend the physical class, attended a probable one; and Carol, who was not present for the end of the official class, was a participant in the probable one.

Carol was downhearted, and wanted to give herself a present. [...]

[...] You can change the past, and in doing so change the present and the future. You can change the present, and in doing so change the past and the future. You can change the future, and in doing so change the present and the past.

This projected image will of itself already alter the past and the present. [...] These pursuits in the present will automatically change the nature of the present.

[...] It is easy to look at yourselves or at the world, comma, to see yourself and become so hypnotized by your present state that all change or growth seems impossible, or to see the world in the same manner.

[...] (A one-minute pause.) Like you, she is presented with a life that seems to begin at her birth, and that is suspended from that point of emergence until the moment of death’s departure. [...]

[...] Despite this, however, your senses present you with only a picture of your immediate environment, unless they are cultivated in certain particular manners that are relatively unusual.

[...] You can turn on television and see a drama, but the inward mobility and experience of your psyche is mysteriously enfolded within all of those exterior gestures that allow you to turn on the television switch to begin with, and to make sense of the images presented. [...]

[...] Such isolated observation areas merely present you with a distorted picture of natural behavior, because the animals are also imprisoned within them. [...]

[...] When he studies such animal behavior, however, and sometimes uses the sexual patterns of the animals to make certain points about human sexuality, then man does not take this into consideration, but speaks as if the present observed animal behavior is the indication of a prime or basic nature inherent in their biology.

[...] You project your present beliefs backward into history, and you misinterpret many of the conditions that you observe in the natural world. [...]

[...] As a species, presently at least in the Western world, you equate sex and love. [...]

[...] Infants play in their dreams, performing physical actions beyond their present physical capacities. [...]

[...] Children’s games are always “in the present” — that is, they are immediately experienced, though the play events may involve the future or the past. [...]

[...] That imagination allows him to plan in the present for what might occur in the future.

For another exercise, imagine that you are in another part of the world entirely, but in present time, and ask yourself the same questions. [...]

[...] For the sake of analogy only now, imagine your present self at the center of a circle of endless spirals. [...]

[...] The contact is also with your other reincarnated selves that you do not presently recall. [...]

Right now I see you symbolically speaking, in your terms, as the sum of the various people I have known in past lives as you, plus the you that is present, in your terms. [...]

In terms again of the image set up earlier, there are various reference points where overlapping areas of the various circles penetrate each other; and as has been mentioned earlier, Ruburt’s personality presently is in such a psychological location.
