[...] The truth is that the personality you are now and the personality that you have been and will be — in the terms in which you understand time — all of these personalities are manifestations of the soul, of your soul.

[...] Your soul, therefore, possesses the wisdom, information, and knowledge that is part of the experience of all these other personalities; and you have within yourselves access to this information, but only if you realize the true nature of your reality. Let me emphasize again that these personalities exist independently within and are a part of the soul, and each of them are free to create and develop.

[...] It is a portion of the self that acts, you might say, as a messenger between the soul and the present personality. You must also realize that while I use terms like “soul” or “entity,” “inner self,” and “present personality,” I do so only for the sake of convenience, for one is a part of the other; there is no point where one begins and another ends.

Many individuals imagine the soul to be an immortalized ego, forgetting that the ego as you know it is only a small portion of the self; so this section of the personality is simply projected onward, ad infinitum, so to speak. [...]

It allows the light of its personality to shine purposely down those paths from which it has come, in order to help others who will follow; but the light is the light of vitality, and carries with it traces of the personality who lets it shine.

Mentally and emotionally such a personality may even travel down(Jane made a descending gesture) to help another. This is a very simplified explanation, for you are not ready to study the reality of multidimensional personality thoroughly. [...]

[...] So in a larger sense, as personalities leave your system, as they travel into other dimensions, they also set up electrical pathways, and each personality who does so makes those paths easier for others. [...]

This would seem to deny the idea of progression, since I tell you that all portions or all guises, or all aspects and all levels, of any given personality exist at once. [...] The various immediately-conscious portions of personality evolve and change as they recognize these truths. [...]

[...] If such a person begins to succeed, then he or she is forcibly reminded of the equally dominant need for lack of success — for again, the person believes that self-expression is necessary and desirable while also being highly dangerous, and thus to be avoided.

[...] The person might succeed financially, only to make a serious or faulty business judgment, thus losing the financial benefits. Another person might express the same dilemma through the body itself, so that “getting ahead” was equated with physical mobility — so that it seemed that physical mobility, while so desired, was still highly dangerous.

(Long pause.) Each person is so unique that it is obviously impossible for me to discuss all of the innumerable and complicated strands of belief that form human experience — yet I hope here, some way, to present enough “specific generalizations” so that you the reader can find many points of application as far as your own life is concerned.

Such reasoning sounds quite outlandish, of course, to most individuals, but the person in question, say with a disease like arthritis, or some other motion-impairing ailment, might ask themselves the question: “What would I do if I were free of the condition?”

Now, the personalities that are reached under ordinary seance quote “conditions”, are not personalities such as mine. They are personalities recently dead, in your terms, with strong connections to your environment, and not aware as yet generally of their own larger existence. [...]

[...] A A is no longer a physical personality, and that is all. He is not a personality fully developed in those larger terms of which I speak. He is a personality however, and he is not Ruburt’s.

I am what I have always said that I was, and I said it in as emotionally neutral terms as possible: —an energy essence personality. [...] I have tried to explain personality gestalts and the connections that exist between us.

Personalities are composed of action and of psychic components. [...] There are at all times more various kinds of personalities than there are flower seeds—different varieties. [...]

[...] He was — like all the other disciples — a blessed, created “fragment personality,” formed by the Christ personality. [...] He dramatized a portion of each individual’s personality that focuses upon physical reality in a grasping manner, and denies the inner self out of greed.

Each of the twelve represented qualities of personality that belong to one individual, and Christ as you know him represented the inner self. The twelve, therefore, plus Christ as you know him (the one figure composed of the three) represented an individual earthly personality — the inner self — and twelve main characteristics connected with the egotistical self. The three Christ personalities were born upon your planet, and indeed became flesh among you. [...] The twelve disciples were materializations from the energies of these three personalities — their combined energies. [...]

[...] In the most inescapable truth, he is not human in your terms at all, nor in your terms is he a personality. Your ideas of personality are too limited to contain the multitudinous facets of his multidimensional existence.

[...] You will find that there are definite elements put upon your own personality that you must be ready to face. [...] And if I speak through this woman, then what should this tell you about the nature of human personality and since you all have human personalities at this point, what questions should this make you ask of yourselves. [...]

[...] The stability of the pupil’s personality must be correctly gauged by me. The needs of that personality cannot be ignored but must be taken into consideration.

We will be quite aware that we are ourselves, however — the multidimensional personalities who shared a more or less common environment at one level of our existence. [...]

Now, each whole self, or multidimensional personality, has its own purposes, missions, and creative endeavors that are initial and basic parts of itself and that determine those qualities that make it eternally valid and eternally seeking. [...]

As the personal material began to unfold we started calling it the “deleted” material because we kept it separate from the more general “regular” or public sessions. After all, in the conventional sense what was one to do with personal material from whatever source but keep it personal? [...]

Not that those personal sessions in Volume 7 represent the beginnings of Seth’s efforts—always with Jane’s and my permission, indeed encouragement—to offer his understandings of our challenges. [...] (Only then a personality fragment of Seth’s, named Frank Watts, was speaking to us. [...]

Seth’s personal material was startling in its unexpected clarity, although always quite brief. [...] Sometimes in those early sessions Seth would mention a current relative or friend of one or the other of us—or both of us—as being involved in our personal material. [...]

[...] Surely her intuitively-chosen manner helped us acclimate to the highly original and creative fact that Jane was learning to speak in a dissociated (or trance) state for Seth, a disembodied worthy who called himself an “energy personality essence.” [...]

[...] Some individuals are more intrigued by detail than others: A particular “previous personality” may be one who had a great love of detail, in which case you would discover the richness of it. The particular likes and dislikes of any given personality will also have much to do with the descriptions given of a particular reincarnational episode.

It will do no good to ask deep questions concerning the history of the times of some personality who was impoverished, ignorant, and limited. [...] The picture of any given life, therefore, usually comes through the experience of the personality who lived it.

(The first part of the session was given over to a friend who needed help with a personal problem. [...]

[...] Persons and events of meaning, carrying strong emotional charges, will come through far clearer. [...]

Another more personal core belief: “My life is worthless. [...] Now a person who holds such an idea will ordinarily not recognize it as an invisible belief. Instead he or she may emotionally feel that life has no meaning, that individual action is meaningless, that death is annihilation; and connected to this will be a conglomeration of subsidiary beliefs that deeply affect the family involved, and all those with whom such a person comes in contact.

[...] Experiences — both personal and global — will come into the perception of a person who holds this belief, that will only serve to deepen it further.

(Seth’s clever, somewhat humorous stresses in the above paragraph were intended to make certain points to me personally while he continued work on his book. [...]

[...] Suspicion of others will grow, to say nothing about the individual’s personal distrust. [...]

[...] A person ready to die will, despite any medication. (Emphatically:) A person who wants to live will seize upon the tiniest hope, and respond. [...] The malady is seen almost as a thing apart from the patient’s person — but thrust upon it — over which the patient has little control.³

[...] But in greater, more vital issues, the sick doctor does not know as much about health as an “uneducated, untrained,” but healthy person — and I am speaking in quite practical terms. The person who is healthy understands the dynamics of health. [...]

Suppose a scientist found a first orange, and used every instrument available to examine it, but refused to feel it, taste it, smell it, or otherwise to become personally involved with it for fear of losing scientific objectivity.

[...] You make your world, and in an important manner your thoughts are indeed the immediate personal blueprints for it. [...]

Ruburt was myself, Seth, many centuries ago, but he grew, evolved and expanded in terms of a particular, personal set of value fulfillments. He is now an actual gestalt, a personality that was one of the probable personalities into which Seth could grow. [...]

Nothing remains unchanging, personalities and entities least of all. [...] You cannot stop an entity or a personality in time, as you would like to do. [...]

[...] In your time scheme entities have had time to produce more fragmentary personalities, but in truth from your viewpoint these personalities can be seen to have changed long ago.

[...] That is, many fragment personalities do become entities. We are dealing here with a psychic tree however, and the seeds or personalities that do not develop into entities, do not because they do not choose to do so.

When your precious psychologists walk out of their bodies and tell me what is in California, then I will listen to their theories of personality and when your psychologists put on the type of personality performance that I can put on—then I will listen to them when they tell me about the ego and subconscious. ([Class Member:] “Are there any overlappings of these personalities? Our main focus is our conscious personality... [...]

[...] Other portions of yourself may consider their selves as the main origin of personality. [...] The ego seems to think that all other portions of the personality circle about it. [...]

[...] There are other conscious portions of your own personality. [...]

[...] You live then in a personal universe, in which each being of whatever degree comes personally in contact with space and time, alive with meaning, alive as a portion of reality that no other being could or can replace.

[...] This organization is personally, intimately tuned, in that it gives evidence of a spectacular psychology on another scale that organizes events in a manner that is for each individual personally significant.

Science’s eyes, at least, have been largely closed, because it does not know how to read the personal script that is written everywhere in the passages of the chromosomes, or in the passages of a poem. The chromosomes above all bear a personal message. [...]

[...] In a manner of speaking, again underlined, and in the terms of this discussion, you bear a correspondence with portions of the universe that you will never visit personally, physically. [...]

The personality does indeed turn its focus into another field of reality, and does desert the camouflage image that it maintained. However, some trace of that personality remains in that camouflage reality, quite literally, as what you might call a ghost image.

This phenomena is not meant to explain legitimate instances in which the personality and consciousness itself returns for purposes of communication. [...] As a painting that is destroyed physically may still be retained in your mind, so in the reality of the physical system a trace remains, an image trace of the camouflage structure that enclosed a given personality.

(She said that sometimes “these personalities” seem to be able to look into her mind and see how she is going to deliver a bit of data; if they don’t approve, then they can change the way they give it to her to speak, so we’ll take it the right way. [...] She thinks this may be why she doesn’t completely lose consciousness during sessions—so she can aid the personalities as they make use of her verbal discrimination.

At physical death, in your terms, the personality structure is able to approach certain coordinates, to perceive them, and to change focus from one system to another. [...]

[...] The personality with whom I am working is intelligent. For reasons that I will explain much later, it was necessary that I align myself with a personality who is both intelligent and intuitional. [...] I have no need or wish to shove the existing personality aside. [...]

We are dealing with inherent abilities of human personality, whether or not the personality is focused within physical matter, but I am indeed aware of the difficulties which shall be encountered. [...]

There is much here to be studied about personality. [...] The structure of the personality makes this possible.

[The other director] is too much concerned with his own personal image. [...] this is a personal concern of his. [...]

[...] There is a fine impatience, a divine discontent that drives them on until the frontiers within their own personalities are finally opened. The knowledge gained must then be integrated by the physical personality, and yet by its nature, valid knowledge of this kind will shed out its light and make its own way.

(Long pause at 9:45.) Such personalities often then must learn to correlate their intuitive knowledge, to reform intellectual frameworks strong enough to support it. Such personalities also are usually gifted with the ability to draw upon unusual amounts of energy. [...]

The integrity of any intuitive information depends upon the inner integrity of the person who receives it. [...] All who wish to look within themselves, to find their own answers, to encounter their own “appointment with the universe,” should therefore become well acquainted with the intimate workings of their own personality.

Such information, such inspired writing, usually appears within frameworks of the personality that have already been set and formed. [...]

[...] As you have a tendency to think that earth is the center of the universe, although you know this is not true, so you have a tendency to think that the ego is the center of the personality, and that other aspects of the personality exist for the use of the ego, that all else revolves about the ego. [...]

In my own book I will describe the makeup of personality from another viewpoint indeed. [...]

[...] The ego forgets that it is only a part of a much more complete personality structure, and therefore cuts itself off from abilities and insights that are necessary, even for its own comfort and stability.

In my book therefore I will show the personality from the inside out, so to speak. [...]

[...] All That Is is indeed energy and yet all energy is individualized so you are not dealing merely with impersonal energy but neither are you dealing with a personality in the terms usually used. For you do not understand as yet what personality is, and when you understand what you are, then you will have some small glimmering of what All That Is is and basically you will find All That Is within yourselves. [...] I’m trying to make one basic point and the point is that energy and being are not sober, that the personality continues to exist, that those characteristics of mine which I considered mine, in your terms, at one time still continue to exist, and that your personality will also continue to exist. [...] Remember also, that any abilities that you see displayed by the personality of Ruburt are abilities of human personality, latent in each of you, are to be used as you will and as you wish for you are possessed, possessed by ideas that are limited and that restrain you. [...]

[...] Each of you do have a personality assigned to you but it will be awhile—either attending classes or reading before you realize the nature of these personalities. [...]

Many similar, more or less obvious opportunities of this sort are equally impractical to a large number of personalities. These opportunities exist theoretically, and yet for particular personalities do not exist for all practical purposes. [...] Yet these limits themselves were set, or if you prefer, chosen, by the entity itself for any given present personality; and at the entity level free choice or free will is much more extensive, and really has much more meaning.

Benefits received by personalities who are in deep trance are not nearly as long-lasting as they are in my method. [...] However, the subconscious knowledge eventually must be transferred to the personality-consciousness. In other methods than my own this transference takes place at a later time, usually on a midplane after the death of the personality on your plane.

[...] That is, while in theory any personality can choose to travel extensively, this really has no meaning for a large percentage of personalities because of their own peculiar makeup.

[...] In like manner such choice possibilities exist for human personalities, but to all intents and purposes they do not exist because the personality is too limited to take advantage of them.
