[...] A note: This is the third anniversary of our moving into the hill house.

Our interest in dreams spilled over into my own creative work also. The following poems were all written in 1964, when Rob and I first began our own experiments in dream recall and when Seth first started his sessions on the dream world.

[...] You can refer to our previous discussions on the nature of matter to help you understand, but the dream world is not a formless, haphazard semi-construction.

This could be studied if proper suggestions were given to an individual that he would awaken at the exact point of a dream’s end [as in our own experiments]. [...]

While Seth was delivering this material we had embarked upon our own dream experiments. [...]

[...] We will indeed begin a series of sessions, although they may be briefer than our usual ones. [...]

[...] At the same time, I’d been talking earlier in the day about how any real way out of our dilemma had to come from within. [...]

Ruburt did make an attempt to rid himself of those feelings, however, by speaking of them to you, thus expressing them, and by reminding himself of our sessions and of his own physical improvements. [...]

By all means, continue to review our sessions, and you can expect further improvements on Ruburt’s part, as we continue with these practices. [...]

(Seth’s entity, who is nameless in our terms, spoke this evening, rather than Seth. [...]

Ours is the voice that whispers through the corridors. [...]

Our Lady of Florence, you do not have to fight so hard for it! [...]

[...] I certainly expect our “Dean” (Theodore) to continue with his own development. [...]

At our next session I will do your tape for you. [...]

[...] Now give us a moment for our dictation.

(That little exchange pretty much sums up our attitudes these days, and Jane’s worsening physical condition. [...]

[...] I had absolutely no reaction to the news at all — and at once remembered my total lack of reaction when our lawyer had told me that the insurance business was settled. [...]

[...] Seth goes on in this session to explain some of the other deeper reasons for the continuance of symptoms and our acceptance of them.)

[...] There was no denying the fact that a door had replaced our middle bay window. [...]

As we chatted, I was filled with warm satisfaction and wondered how I could ever have forgotten our previous visits. [...]

[...] He definitely was not our present newspaper boy, but the one who had delivered papers to us in another town, several years earlier. [...]

That is the end of our session. [...]

(The session was held in our front room. [...]

[...] Our interpretation connects them through Maxine; something suitable being Maxine’s corsage, something surprising being her early death.

[...] We shall shortly close our session.

(Then I’m in a house of our friends Lydia and Atlee; many kids and animals. [...]

[...] There was a fire burning in a circle of stone at our feet, and we all held long poles like broom handles. [...]

[...] I realized now that the end of our ledge was held up now by only a thin column of stone, but didn’t feel alarmed at this. [...]

(It is Friday evening as I type this; our dream records since Wednesday give no indication that either Jane or I remembered meeting each other, or Seth, or whether all of us met together.)

[...] All our own sessions have been beneficial, I’d say. [...]

The important point is that he has felt that he should perform publicly, to promote our ideas, and also because he felt he should do so, since he obviously could do so (all intently). [...]

[...] (Long pause.) In that regard indeed Ruburt felt as if he could not live up to my creative work—as if his physical being must embody all of the knowledge that came to him through our sessions—another important point. [...]

(Our talk lasted almost an hour in spite of myself, for I didn’t want her to get upset before a session. [...]

(The insight, such as it was, offered many clues to our present situation. [...]

[...] On the other hand, while he did critically examine our material, he insisted in those terms “that he must be responsible for it,” in that he and everyone else must take normal responsibility in a fashion for “subconscious” actions or revelatory information. [...]

[...] As our readership grew, as you heard from readers or from some members of the media or whatever, it seemed to Ruburt that what he did best—have sessions, write his books—was not enough, that he was expected to do far more. [...]

[...] Seth doesn’t discuss the data, and we made our own connections.

(This is a stronger connection than it would seem, for Tom is a friend of ours who visits us fairly often. [...]

2. We moved from our downtown apartments into the hill house almost five years ago (in March 1975), but Jane thinks she tried to write the poem Seth referred to several years before that. [...] We hadn’t been as careful then about dating our work as we are now. [...]

[...] I knew, or saw, that these lights came from ordinary table lamps with columnar shades of white fabric, and that they sat on a round oak table like the one in our living room. [...]

[...] Floyd, Jane, and I are good friends, and he’s well acquainted with our work. [...]

Now I have a few brief remarks and then my friend Ruburt wants to send our friend Rachel here back through time to another reincarnation. [...]

Now, this is a quiet evening and I am pleased with our small gathering. [...]

Do not become bored and think that I have no regard for you (Amelia) because I am speaking to our older class members, for you are coming along well with your own progression and your dream memories will get much better. [...]

[...] And in one of our class sessions, we will answer it thoroughly. [...]

For our next few sessions I will work on our book, do a few chapters, and then if you prefer take some time out for reincarnational material, so that it does not go by the board.

[...] You are at that point trying to shove beneath awareness certain feelings of yours, mentioned in our last session. [...]

Because of this role, adopted rather early on both of your parts in your married life, and because of his dim, distorted and hidden perception of it, he was vastly astonished at your permissive attitude when our sessions began.

[...] Jane’s trance had been good, but still she’d been bothered by the sounds of traffic rising up from the busy intersection close by our living room windows. [...]

Give us a moment … I am putting this as simply as possible; but when your “original self” enters [part of] itself into three-dimensional life from an inner reality, the energy waves carrying it break — not simply into one particle, following our analogy, but into a number of conscious particles. [...]

[...] My heartiest wishes … Have him (Jane) read the latest material I gave for him (which we’d deleted from its spot at 11:44 in the last session) every day until our next one.

[...] In that session Seth was quickly at pains to say that belonging to a certain family of consciousness did not come first in our reality: “Your individuality comes first.”

In this regard now, and for the sake of our analogy only, think of the life of the self as one message leaping across the nerve cells of a multidimensional structure — again, as real as your body — and consider it also as a greater “moment of reflection” on the part of such a many-sided personality.
