(When Wanda called, however, we learned that her doctor wasn’t the kind of specialist Jane should see after all, so the situation was resolved seemingly without effort on our parts. [...] Perhaps the session made me feel even more discouraged—this has happened before—or the evident errors in living on our parts that seemingly have been responsible for the whole situation over the years, certainly seemed beyond the reach of any medical treatment. (The session started at the above hour because of our later-than-usual supper. [...]

[...] Since I’d been thinking of Wanda rather strongly last week, wondering whether the doctor in question could help Jane and her eye condition, I took our meeting as a clear case of the workings of Framework 2. On impulse I asked Wanda if she could arrange an appointment for Jane, and was surprised to hear that it could be set up for next Monday. [...]

I gave material on the eyes, and that stands as of our last session. [...]

(Jane sat quietly in trance while I left my seat to turn on the air cooler set into one of our living-room windows. [...]

[...] Rooney, our black cat, had been injured somehow in the left front leg, so that for the past four days he had been moving about on three legs. [...]

[...] To use the time I let our other cat, Willy, in the back hall door. [...]

(Our cat, Willy, now jumped up in Jane’s lap. [...]

[...] So far, Seth hasn’t designated or titled a Part 1.⁶ Jane had received more, but she was vague on it: “… something to do with how each of us could be our own dream-art scientist, mental physicist, and complete physician. And there’s more to come on the three classifications of man that Seth gave in that earlier session … And stuff on the lands of the mind, I think, which leads to our ancient civilizations and how they’re embedded in our minds now …”

2. Physicists assign a frequency, or vibration in periodic motion, to all objects in our universe — galaxies, stars, planets, subatomic wave/particles, and so forth. [...]

At Ruburt’s end, it almost seems as if he had our material at hand magically without effort, and therefore should have put it to use at once, learning the lessons of half a lifetime in a few years, and graduating to solve all of his own problems and half of the world’s as well. [...]

[...] (Jane pointed toward our kitchen, where we have a small table we haven’t tried.) The small table is particularly good because it was built by its owner, whose own abilities are definite, though untrained. [...]

[...] I am very aware of them, for while our friend Ruburt gives this class, I have been giving other classes and you have all been there. [...]

In your terms, you are hanging out in space with nothing to support you and our friend here would be terrified of falling. [...]

The change, while admittedly advantageous, reflects the fact that people are being helped, and that in our way we are able to help them change their picture of reality for the better, and to enlarge their understanding.

(The second question had to do with Seth’s ideas about our appearing on the David Susskind show, TV, in New York City, should we be asked. [...]

[...] The next morning, I arose with the thought that all our stewing was after all academic—Jane’s symptoms would prevent us from being on the show to begin with —we couldn’t see her physically negotiating airports, taxis, hotels, studios, New York City, etc.)

(Before the session tonight Jane and I discovered during our conversation that each of us had toyed with the idea of asking Seth to answer the letter. [...]

Our results with him were good as far as the tests were concerned, though there was considerable distortion simply because Ruburt’s (Jane’s) abilities had not been sufficiently developed. [...]

I do not intend to take up our sessions with such material, however. [...]

(“How does our weather today bear upon communicating with you?”

(It sounds almost as though Jane and I had our worrisome dreams in tandem. We agreed that they represented fears on our parts — that they weren’t literal or precognitive in any sense.)

The idea of the sinful self will not be predominant in our own book, but we certainly will delve into the many unfavorable concepts that are held by the various religions — concepts that certainly make many people feel that the self is indeed sinful rather than blessed.

[...] I’ll be making copies of these to send to our lawyer, and will show the originals to Andrew Fife, in billing, so that he can make his own copies for our file. [...]

[...] Jane and I exchanged our own gifts—candy for her, designer jeans—black and gray—for me [to my great surprise].

8. It may not be so easy to see our reality in relation to others, though. [...]

[...] It was a warm if snowy night, and we had a kitchen window open for fresh air; all through her delivery I’d been aware of the traffic ceaselessly negotiating the intersection just west of “our” apartment house, of course, and had asked her to repeat a number of words. We do intend to move out of our two apartments early next year, as soon as I finish the illustrations for Jane’s Dialogues — that is, we’re going to start looking for a house we can buy.

4. Earlier in this decade of our camouflage reality, all four of our parents died within a period of less than three years. [...]
