Remember, when you look at events, to classify as significant those improvements and events that are most favorable to your cause, and let other ones dwindle as far as your attention to them is concerned. [...]

(5:09.) When people become ill, worried or fearful, one of the first symptoms of trouble is a lack of pleasure, a gradual discontinuance of playful action, and an over-concentration upon personal problems. [...]

(No session was held on Friday, December 9. The day was a busy but routine one in which we did our usual things. [...]

[...] She told me that she’d had to counter negative suggestions given to her in hydro this morning by both Lottie and Georgia, relative to new bedsores breaking out beside the sits of old ones—in other words, she was always to have bedsores. [...]

[...] Do not think one portion of the personality is sabotaging another portion. Instead, one personality is working with a system of beliefs, and trying to attain an overall synthesis. [...]

[...] Ruburt knows how much he could make if he wanted to through classes; and even in choosing to have only one per week, a choice is involved that earlier did not exist. [...]

[...] As far as beliefs are concerned, Ruburt is working directly now with the proper ones, in the correct area.

To one extent or another, Ruburt then speaks in the sessions for all peoples, for the united psyches that overflow with thoughts and feelings that are registered by the wind, giving voice to the private, intimate, yet connected lives of men and women throughout the centuries — so that many people, listening to or reading the sessions, hear their own inner voices also, and feel the contours of their own natures, and universal nature as well.

7. Walk from one end of the house to the other three times a day.

Our session may be somewhat briefer this evening, to make up for the unscheduled one.

When a particular situation arises, or when his abilities are unusually attuned, we have in the past held unscheduled sessions, and I have always attempted to compensate by cutting the next one short, or cutting it out entirely.

[...] If he had truly that much, he simply would not be capable of a session, even if I were idiotic enough to agree to one. [...]

Now if, and this has occurred, Ruburt finds his abilities unusually attuned, and circumstances are advantageous, it is perfectly legitimate to hold a session, though it is not a scheduled one. [...]

[...] That is perhaps one of the more important issues—to give the body time to accelerate its responses. [...]

[...] She’d been correct in this case also, saying the person was not dead; he returned within the time she specified, also, namely one dating several months after his disappearance. [...]

[...] All of these points could be subsumed under the one broad question that I wanted Seth to go into when he’d finished with the Prentice-Hall material.)

Ruburt is operating in an area in which there are few such specifications, simply because no one knows what can or cannot be done, practically speaking, at psychic levels. [...]

[...] “I have to admit it’s something I haven’t thought of myself,” she said—nor have I. Once mentioned, though, it becomes one of those obvious things to do.)

[...] However if he did not have such an outlet, and if you did not have such an outlet in your own work, then indeed we would have had much more trouble, because this layer of personal subconscious would then be not merely a receptive channel but one that also radioed its own noisy and demanding stations.

Frank Watts was closer, and acted as an unconscious relay station on the one hand, while on the other hand his unconscious gave consent. [...]

However, I will add one other note. [...]

[...] It was a very vivid one, and quite unpleasant, and Jane told me about it as soon as she awoke. [...]

[...] One was clairvoyant, two were telepathic. [...]

[...] We are speaking here in one context only, for we know that the dream universe is also to some extent independent of personality.

On one level the personality does attempt to solve problems through dream construction.

[...] Yet Seth analyzed the symbolic content of the dream rather thoroughly, saying it was an important one for Bill since it bore upon his home and professional life. [...]

[...] One of them was a large, vividly colored parrot that I managed to hang from the wooden frame of the bulletin board at the foot of Jane’s bed, so she could see it. [...]

[...] But then, it’s impossible to write about evolution without contradicting oneself—if one believes in it, I said. [...]

[...] It only becomes difficult to move when one begins to question the nature of motion, or overly is awed by it. [...]

[...] I turned one away this afternoon.

It is easy perhaps at times to have regrets, to wish that curiosity, the love of learning, the desire for knowledge, and yearning to help your fellow men (was Seth a bit amused here?) had not gone quite so far, and to imagine that had it not Ruburt would be in excellent physical condition, and no one would miss the work that then would not exist.

[...] He did not, however, imagine himself, for example, falling, except I believe in one or two very brief thoughts. [...]
