“Seth material” search engine (Jane Roberts)

2. The “officially accepted life” mentioned here reminded me that in the last (694th) session Seth used the phrase “your officially recognized idea of physical reality” in discussing the role probable events played in our world history. In the 686th session he referred to “official data” when he considered ancient man’s selection of certain mental and biological pulses as physical reality; later in the same session, he used the self-explanatory “official history.” In the 684th session he discussed our “official activity” when he compared our reaction to hunches and premonitions with our acceptance of normal psychological reality.

[...] It is the official line of consciousness that has become horizontal, yet in so doing it has also opened up questions to which it would have been blind otherwise—and because of its focus your news events, of course, show only one side of the picture.

That picture, however, provides a kind of exaggeration, throwing back a mirror to the official line of consciousness that it must find most distasteful. [...]

The official line of consciousness does stress its own philosophies. [...]

(9:23.) The natural person is to be found, now, not in the past or in the present, but beneath layers and layers of official beliefs, so you are dealing with an archeology of beliefs to find the person who creates beliefs to begin with. As I have said often, evidence of clairvoyance, telepathy, or whatever, are not eccentric, isolated instances occurring in man’s experience, but are representative of natural patterns of everyday behavior that become invisible in your world because of the official picture of behavior and reality.

[...] These sessions, in that regard, came naturally, as the expression of natural abilities and tendencies, finally emerging despite your official views at the time, jointly.

The sessions brought about, however, a new kind of education that often seemed in direct conflict with the old, and with the official views of contemporary society. [...]

[...] They seem to be the official pulses of your civilization, giving precedence to official reality, but you have little idea that the psyche is inherently able to seek its conscious experience from all of the known ranges, according to the kind of experience chosen at any given “time.”

(Even if beta waves, then, seem to be the “official pulses” of our civilization [to use Seth’s phrase from a session that will be quoted in part below], still Jane and I wonder: When aren’t we actually in a state of altered consciousness? [...]

[...] Each official waking brain wave is a peak in your world of a far deeper “wave” of other experience, and represents your points of continuity.

[...] Before though, the fact escaped me that Seth had started Mass Events—representing his and my direct attack on official dictums—or so it seemed to me. [...] Yet I’ve always known that these ideas conflicted with official ones—it’s just that before the “attack” was less direct....

The official line does have its role, of course — but once again, by itself it must remain isolated from the deep, creative, healing functions of body consciousness. The official line of consciousness is really the “worrier,” because it recognizes that it can only go so far, and usually it is not educated enough to realize it is itself sustained and supported — and now I bid you a fond good afternoon, and I do indeed adjust those coordinates that do quicken Ruburt’s healing processes.

[...] That material, however, is “excellent medicine,” and can indeed be life-saving (intently). It is indeed unfortunate that those beliefs that show themselves so simply and effectively in nature seem so mysterious to the usual line of official consciousness.

As you are looking at one photograph in your personal history, that represents your emergence in this particular reality — or the reality that was accepted as official at the time it was taken — so you are looking at a picture of a representative of your species, caught in a particular moment of probability. [...] As you have your recognized, official personal past, so in your system of actuality you have more or less accepted an official mass history (see Note 2). Under examination, however, that history of the species shows many gaps and discrepancies, and it leaves many questions to be answered.

[...] If you find a line of development that you now wish you had pursued, but had not, then think deeply about the ways in which those activities could now fit into the framework of your officially accepted life.² Such musings, with desire — backed up by common sense — can bring about intersection points in probabilities that cause a fresh realignment of the deep elements of the psyche. [...] I am not saying that you should make the nighttime hours your own official ones, but they do provide creativity with an additional ease, along with the changes in official patterns. [...]

To some degree, creativity always involves a denial of life’s daily official evidence, for creativity deals with that which you are about to bring into being. [...]

(Long pause at 9:55.) The Christ story in the beginning was not nearly as singular and neat as it might now seem, for the finally established official Christ figure was one settled upon from endless versions of a god-man, with which man’s psyche has long been involved: He was the psychic composite, the official Christ, carrying within his psychological personage echoes of old and new gods alike—a figure barely begun, comma, to be filled out in time, although originating outside of it (again, all very intently).

[...] The same applies to Christianity itself, for all of the seemingly historical events connected with the official (underlined) Christ did not happen in physical reality. [...]

[...] It occurred—but Paul did not see, or communicate with (long pause), a person of divine heritage, sent by his father to earth, who lived the life of the official Christ, and who was crucified. [...]

[...] Like The New York Times, science publishes “all the news that’s fit to print,” meaning all of the news that fits into the officially-accepted view of reality. That news is already invisibly censored, and yet we’re supposed to live our lives in accordance with that official definition of experience.

[...] It is hidden because people pay attention to the official areas of life.

[...] Those who follow the official lines of consciousness right now have no such support to fall back upon, while the results of their course becomes more obviously muddled.

[...] As mentioned earlier (in sessions 680–82), your consciousness seizes upon certain events over others and brings these into significance, and therefore into the official reality that you know.

[...] That is, she is conscious of her own being outside of the official framework.⁴

[...] Again, the “official” mind says, “Coincidence. [...]

[...] Different portions of the psyche are familiar with all of these mentioned occurrences — because the psyche straddles any of the local laws that you recognize as “official,” and has within itself the capacity to deal with an infinite number of reality-hyphen-experiences.

If you are reading this book, you have already become weary with official concepts. [...]

Otherwise you will only be left with the world’s “official evidence.” [...] The old world view, the official one, may still be comforting you, for it is shared by millions. [...]

Events that appear senseless demand some kind of explanation, and the explanations of the official world no longer content its members. [...]

[...] You do not have to include it in your official notes unless you so desire.

[...] I blush to think of your fine professors reading this, and for your sakes I suggest that it not be sent out with official material.

Generally speaking, large segments of your official society do not regard the pursuit of art as responsible behavior. [...]

(9:20.) In the world of official thought, work does indeed seem to imply responsibility. [...]

[...] But the word pleasure often has a negative connotation to official morality. [...]

[...] For Chapter 19 of Politics (which is to be published in 1976) Jane transcribed from her library, in part: “If you imagine the official numbers 1 to 10 in a row, then there would be an infinite number of unofficial 1’s hidden in the 1 you saw, and an infinite number of spaces between the official 1 and 2. The position of the 1 on the paper would represent our sense-data world, while the invisible 1’s behind the official 1 would represent the official 1’s hidden values and infinite probabilities.”

[...] In his own Psychic Politics Ruburt has presented from his (psychic) library some information concerning official and unofficial numbers.⁸

(Pause, hand to closed eyes.) Between each official number in a given series he envisions literally infinite space. [...]

[...] Again, the material is indeed dealing with a far more valid explanation for the working ways of reality than the old official beliefs — and again, we are not just (underlined) dealing with evocative, creative hypotheses.

[...] Even then the question arises of public response to trance messages when they contradict official thought—and your questions about how the material might be misused as you explained in God of Jane very well, and—How “responsible” is the conscious mind for trance messages?—How responsible are you for Seth’s messages? [...] You are speaking to the younger generations strongly, and they are the people who will make up the fabric of the so-called official establishments in the future, and they will come to those establishments with far different values than those people now ruling. [...]

[...] It is against the official views of science as a field that you hold great variance.
