“Seth material” search engine (Jane Roberts)

(Literal transcript of the results obtained by us on the night of November 26/63 — a few days before we began to receive the series of messages from first Frank Watts, and then Seth.)

(We were a little more hopeful of obtaining results on the board after getting the few jumbled words on November 26/63. [...]

(The 39th envelope experiment was held during the session; see the tracing of the AAA membership card used as the object on page 1. Some interesting and hilarious results were obtained in the connections made by Seth/Jane.

(I became absorbed in the task, and had just obtained the answer when Jane called me from the front room at 8:55. [...]

[...] I obtained the actual object on Friday, August 14,1964; while doing this the car was left at the station for servicing, and the events developing at the station very nearly prevented our leaving on vacation the following day, Saturday, August 15.

(Jane was pleased to learn Seth’s answer about my neck pain agreed with the answer I had obtained through the pendulum. [...]

[...] Both experiments and conclusions are right — and mutually exclusive; whichever result is obtained is due to the nature of the particular experiment.

[...] Then the sort of evidence with which you are concerned, Doctor, can be obtained. [...]

[...] I have not pushed in the past for any kind of arrangement where proofs can be obtained....

[...] Dr. Instream used these examples to point out how important the correct methodology was in trying to obtain proofs in psychic investigations.

[...] Once again in the bathroom I was amazed that any belief could have such a powerful effect upon a person that they would tolerate such physical limitations day after day, year after year, rather than to come to terms with them in an effort to obtain at least some relief. [...]

You were gifted enough so that you would not starve in the marketplace (humorously)—and yet your gifts were also those that would fit in with your overall purposes of obtaining knowledge of the inner workings of nature, and the psyche. [...]

[...] I dated this particular matchbook on the inside when obtaining it—August 1963, which was before these sessions began in December 1963. [...]

[...] Jane said this refers to our automobile trips to Saratoga, the object being obtained on the first of these in 1963.

[...] I obtained much valid information. [...]

This contest between you had much to do with Ruburt’s fear in obtaining reincarnational material that could perhaps be checked. [...]

(Jane and I tried some ESP experiments with Dee and Joe, and obtained good results. [...]

[...] Jane did not want to call on Seth and had not since the beginning; she was more interested in obtaining some kind of effects that she could see herself, instead of being the one observed by others.

(I never did obtain any hints of identity. [...]

1. In Note 1 for the 840th session I cited an insight we’d recently obtained into the relationship between Jane and Seth, and mentioned how we’re always on the lookout for such clues. [...]

I am speaking again of quite practical connections here, for as energy forms matter, matter and energy are inseparable and objects obtain their character from their owners, and from the circumstances surrounding them.

(We think this passage helps explain some of the results Jane has been obtaining in her envelope tests.)

(The following dream and experience is taken from Jane’s notebook; it concerns her results obtained after she deliberately lay down from 8 to 9:30 AM, Monday, June 1, to attempt projection. [...]

[...] I hadn’t told Jane what results or answers I obtained through the pendulum.

I will tell you what I can of what you want to know about Nebene’s times, for example, but you can also obtain from him, if you understand tonight’s material, information of that nature, and “firsthand” data about the various sects he visited. (My own activities, then, have aroused in Jane the urge to try the same approach, and I’ve suggested she think of her own women numbers 1 and 2. It seems that she confronts the same basic challenges I do, I told her, so she could delineate the two opposing portions of her personality well enough to understand that many of her cultural beliefs have been imposed upon her natural, spontaneous, free, creative self, and to such an extent that the acquired beliefs have turned into detriments rather than aids, that she envisioned as helping her obtain what she wants in life. [...]

[...] Then I realized I’d goofed: Last Saturday, our local paper had carried a short article to the effect that a psychic we’d heard of had predicted recently that Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia would obtain the Democratic nomination for president, after a deadlock between Carter and Kennedy developed at the convention. [...] Thus the psychic is wrong in the prediction, which evidently obtained national circulation.

Tom started school a year after I had, and I helped him obtain a room in the same school-approved boarding house that I lived in, with other students. [...]
