[...] As Jane wrote, she realized that the questions she had been struggling with in Adventures had triggered a new psychology, a new way of approaching the creative portions of human personality.

(However, from Session 14 [for January 8, 1964], there’s other material that can be given here, as well as some that makes an interesting note at the end of this appendix.⁴ First, from my own note at 11:05: “Jane said that Seth was quite pleased with the new voice, and that she now knows what he’s thinking sometimes, even though he doesn’t relay it to or through her as part of a message.”

[...] All that work can’t be described here, but we accomplished our main goal: exploring from new angles the relationships involving Jane, Seth, and our physical [camouflage] reality.

[...] That experience of Ruburt’s and Joseph’s was completely new. [...]

[...] I agreed to the new trance procedure, but it was still some time before it became the rule rather than the exception. [...]

In spring 1965, about a year after we wrote Dr. Osis, Rob wrote to Dr. Instream (not his real name), who was connected with a state university in upstate New York. [...]

Identity always becomes part of that which it perceives, however, and so it constantly forms new gestalts, while accepting as itself a larger variety of experiences. [...] Therefore we are forming new identities, and you have already accepted as part of yourself experiences which previously would have been considered alien, and not accepted.

(Toward the end of this data, Jane said now at break, she arrived at the idea of a relative of hers who lives in New York City being featured in the photograph of a woman data. [...]

[...] Grass of course is implied through the object in many ways: Campgrounds for one; also, before leaving for Maine Leonard had his new tent set up on the grass in the backyard of the apartment house for several days, checking it out. [...]

[...] We know Leonard for instance has made other trips to Maine and other New England states in recent years, and could have done so perhaps in 1963. [...]

[...] At bottom center on the back of the object, in small capital lettering, is the logo and address of: DP—Dexter Press, Inc., West Nyack, New York. [...]

[...] Here the pace began to speed up as the two talked back and forth, and in the interests of spontaneity, and because this was a new development in the sessions, I made no attempt to slow Seth down, nor to record every word Seth or Dr. Instream spoke.

[...] An exchange now developed however, that was new to us in the sessions, involving Jane, Seth, Dr. Instream and myself. [...]

[...] I can hold my own with your good doctor in New York, I can take him for you... [...]

The splendid biological acceptance of life could not be thrust or forced upon his emerging consciousness, so to be effective, efficient, to emerge in the new focus of awareness, grace had to expand from the life of the tissue to that of the feelings, thoughts and mental processes. [...]

Man became aware of his state of grace when he lived within the dimensions of his consciousness as it was turned toward his new world of freedom. [...]

[...] I would suggest here that our hardheaded friend, Ruburt, refresh himself tomorrow by loosening his schedule somewhat, and gaining new reservoirs of creative energy, through perhaps an aimless walk, or quiet contemplation.

[...] I then began to tell myself I would visit Ed Robbins, in his house in New Paltz, NY. [...]

[...] I am still working with Ruburt in an attempt to make the sessions more congenial, although necessarily it takes a while for him to become accustomed to our new method of delivery.

[...] This idea of action within action, of distance and movement within action, is a fairly new one in our sessions.

(Jane’s pace had picked up somewhat as break approached, and she resumed in this new manner, though still with pauses, at 9:35.)

Further on at the top of the hill, at the left-hand turn, is another white building at the curve, that is a new building. [...]

[...] And I’m sure that you are each aware of the implications that are involved, in your saving ways —in your dislike of waste (re our new dehumidifier, some old soup I threw out, wine, etc).

[...] Your “purpose” is to bring those diverse aspects together, to form them into your own kind of artistic production—to wed in your life and art those seemingly diverse qualities of spontaneity and order, spareness and abundance, beloved detail and wholeness, and to form in your life and art a new kind of synthesis.

Jane was born in a hospital in Albany, New York, on May 8, 1929, but grew up in nearby Saratoga Springs. [...]

[...] You could spot the point of intense activity, see the birth of new myths and the death of old ones as certainly as you might be able to see a mountain slide or a tidal wave. [...]

Seth’s almost casual remark here: “So does it appear to my consciousness,” embodies a new thought for us in connection with Jane’s adventures with massiveness; it’s the kind of clue about the Seth phenomenon that we’re always interested in getting. [...]

[...] When this happens there is awareness on the part of the new personality of the old life, but more, a clinging over, a tenacious holding onto, on the part of the previous self.

The ego is so strong that it clings even to the new materialization. [...]

—and simply occurred as old balances were broken down, and new ones established.

[...] Your behavior has been most helpful, and that behavior is the result of a new acknowledgment on your part of a belief system—a belief system that you have intellectually accepted for some time—one that you are now beginning to emotionally understand and accept.
