Right after that Sue Watkins called from her home in upstate New York to tell us that she’d just received from Prentice-Hall her first printed copy of Volume 2 of Conversations With Seth. [...] Even though we could hardly be called impartial, we knew that in her long account of much that had taken place in Jane’s ESP classes, Sue had produced superior work both for herself and for us, through her viewpoint offering new dimensions and insights concerning what all three of us—four, counting Seth!—had been, and still are, trying to do. [...] In this fashion they also mirror your more exterior behavior, conserving what you know already, and yet introducing new patterns, new spontaneous orders that would sometimes seem to run against conservative issues. [...]

I’d never seen Jane hesitate for so many months over beginning a new project, as she had with Magical Approach. [...]

[...] One very unusual way these showed themselves began on the evening of October 31, when four younger people who had been members of ESP class visited us from New York City.⁸ They’d been scouting the Elmira area for other ex-students, to see if any of them had old class tapes of Jane speaking for Seth and/or singing in Sumari; they had had some success in their searches, but we didn’t play any of the tapes that night.⁹

[...] It then struck me this evening that the discussion between Jane, Bill and I, over Jane’s new work, bore some rather remarkable parallels to that opening dream sequence, and I wondered whether that portion of the dream could have been clairvoyant. [...]

[...] As of now we have so far mailed the letter to Eleanor re Rich Bed; phoned the ad about a house in to the Elmira paper; obtained the paint for Jane’s workroom; put up new curtains in her room; begun inquiries about the duplication of the letter for readers who write to Jane; packaged the first six chapters of Seth’s book to mail to Tam at Prentice-Hall tomorrow; begun to check the galleys for Oversoul Seven—all of these being items on the list we made out a couple of days ago. [...]

[...] A whole new orientation became necessary, and it did involve a time of stress.

[...] Now much of this would have frightened you both in the past, and could not have been given until you reached a particular point of development, and achieved a new status both separately and in your relationship.

[...] We believe we are committed to delivering Seth’s new book, but after that....

[...] (Long pause.) You are both encountering new probabilities of a beneficial nature, and each time you do this you put new imprints or paths or impressions into reality, effectively changing reality in those desired ways. [...]

[...] When she returned Judy told us that Dr. G had written an order for a different ointment than Silvadene to be used on the knee ulcer; the new ointment would help debride the wound and promote faster healing. [...]

[...] And so as a New Year’s present I will tell you what they are. [...]

[...] And now, I do bid you a good evening and a Happy New Decade. [...]

([Theodore:] “Thank you and you started the new year fine.”)

[...] For it has learned to form millions of new connections, meanings and concepts, new gestalts that have made man something different than he was. All of these are new electromagnetic patterns which are now indelibly a part of the race. [...]

[...] To some extent, though in a different fashion, both fear the emergence of new knowledge, since new knowledge is apt to upset either framework entirely. [...]

[...] The release of those feelings will clear the air in all areas, allowing the insights of the natural person new freedom so that new needed information at all levels can flow into his experience. [...]

[...] At the same time she “knew my body was trying out some new positions in bed, like it used to before all this happened. [...]

(Long pause.) Now: We have been dealing with the magical approach, and let me gently remind the two of you that I said that you must be willing to change all the way from the old system of orientation to the new, if you want the new approach to work fully for you in your lives. [...]

INSERTING NEW IDEAS INTO THE WORLD.

Our books are attempting to insert new ideas into the world as it now is, by combining the powers of the intellect and the powers of the intuitions — in other words, by closing the two ends of Prentice’s extremes.

[...] So I think you are both finally trying to use a new approach in that direction.

[...] Information, then, becomes new and is reborn as it is interpreted through a new consciousness, as Seagull was.

[...] When you do this you often perceive new insights. [...]

[...] When you examine one such belief then you obviously threaten the integrity of the structure; and so there are ways of inserting new supports, so to speak — methods to tide you over. [...]

Larry was telling me that he had a new job, running the cash register at a convenient grocery store, and I nodded but the (shivery) feeling persisted till the next moment when I checked my predictions.

[...] Ed had recognized my husband’s car and followed us, asking us to go to his house to meet his new work partner, Rob, when I was finished visiting with my mother.

[...] A fan (Larry), here from Pennsylvania, says he has a new 2nd job — in grocery chain convenient market (that sells basics — nothing fancy; eggs, milk, beer, etc.). [...]

And a kind of ghostly elegance was added Thursday when another old friend visited and showed us color slides taken in London on Xmas/New Years, 1980, and mentioned they all chimed in to sing “Auld Lang Syne.”

[...] Muscles being released are, as he has noticed, at first sore, then he realizes a new freedom or function regained.

[...] The new function appears, yet is not steady for a while. [...]

(11:19.) On Ruburt: the right side, generally speaking, has released itself enough, and become practically dependable enough in new positions, now, to allow the first important releases of large muscle areas on the left side. [...]

Ruburt’s energy has been going into his body’s recovery, and many new improvements are taking place, which will shortly show themselves. [...]
