“Seth material” search engine (Jane Roberts)

(Dream # 3; December 8,1965: Again in color. A long involved dream; believe part of the beginning of it escaped me as I woke up. The dream had to do with the fact that for some reason I was to be executed, by painless injection. I do not know why. At least part of the time I was in a brick-walled room partially underground. I think my father was to give me the needle.

On this level therefore, the three most important of these dreams are related: the two regarding your brother, and the dream that had to do with execution by needle, a painless one, to be carried out by your father.

In the third dream you face a painless execution which is to be carried out by your father, who will give you the needle. You see Ruburt, who is on a swing, and you are concerned and sad. Later you find yourself unhurt. You wander about, see Ruburt once more, and again you are concerned for him.

Now the last dream looks for the causes behind the situation, and the main key to it is the needle symbol, which on the one hand is a symbol for the penis. But it is not a phallic symbol, which has wider and deeper symbolic and racial implications than this one.

Such a person might imagine his or her anger or fury filling up the inside of a gigantic balloon that is then pricked by a needle, exploding in pieces from the pressure within, with debris falling everywhere — out over the ocean, or caught up by the wind, but in any case dispersed in whatever way seems agreeable to the patient.

[...] When I stroked her feet today Jane said it had felt “like pins and needles.” [...]

[...] Jane couldn’t stand for me to rub her left leg after I turned her, because of the strong “pins and needles” feelings the massaging generates in the leg. [...]

[...] The spontaneous self then becomes defiant, and at times purposely needles the portion of the personality it believes would hold it back.

[...] Jane felt strong sensations in them like pins and needles, she said. [...]

I will never endeavor to put any pressure upon you, through needling you to following my suggestions, and I understand very well, believe it or not, the so-called practical aspects of the world in which you live. [...]

[...] As I started drifting toward sleep I became aware that I was looking at my own head; the image lasted for several seconds and was quite clear, without being needle-sharp. [...]

(These people I saw with adequate distinction, yet not with the needle-sharp, vivid vision I have experienced on some occasions, as for instance the man’s head of Sunday, 6/7. I did not recognize either one of them.

(Since Seth was obviously having such a good time needling me, I very nearly yielded to temptation and told him to pull out all the stops as far as voice effects went. [...]
