“Seth material” search engine (Jane Roberts)

(I said I was most curious that Seth comment, since what the movie showed was so at odds with his material on early man in Dreams. I expected there to be a great difference, but watching our early history as shown in the movie made life seem impossibly grim 80,000 years ago. I didn’t see how our ancestors had survived, were the movie accurate. It had to be wrong — for all it depicted was savagery, on the parts of animals, apes, dogs, man, cannibals, and so forth. “If anyone lived to be even 20 years old under those circumstances,” I told Jane, “it would have been a miracle.” There was no compassion, no intuition; little understanding revealed by the characters in the movie other than the emotions of bloodlust, survival of the fittest, and selfishness. It certainly offered no insights into how the human young were cared for over the long period necessary while they simply grew.

(Jane told me that she’d had her catheter changed at 11:30 this morning, and had just finished having her dressings done before I arrived. She ate a good lunch. While she ate I described my reactions to and thoughts about Quest for Fire, a well-known movie of a couple of years ago that I’d seen part of on television’s Showtime channel while eating supper last night.

(3:55. Shawn took Jane’s blood pressure and pulse, then my wife went back to reading the session, doing a little better. Jane announced she was ready for the session at 4:10. She’d already told me she thought Seth would comment on the movie.)

[...] Then my hip area turns into a hotel or old castle—like they show in horror movies. [...]

(I lost a couple of hours this evening watching the TV movie, The Day After, instead of typing the daily record for this session from my notes. [...]

[...] She ate quite well, and we discussed watching the much-talked-about movie tonight on the nuclear holocaust. [...]

[...] This is sort of like a TV movie, To Catch a Thief. [...]

[...] Tam called Jane to inform her that Eleanor called John Nelson [which Jane already knew] —but that Eleanor and her screenwriter friend had the money to do a movie for Seven. [...] Townsend is involved with Alan Neuman, of course, who also wants to do a movie of the first Seven book, etc. [...]

[...] Oversoul Seven is also involved in some fashion, especially the movie aspects —for when Jane called Eleanor Friede to offer her Emir, Eleanor told Jane she was about to call her about Seven, the call having to do with possible motion picture connotations, through a well-known screenwriter; that is the kind of event intertwined with the whole affair; nor have Jane and Eleanor contacted each other for probably a couple of years.

[...] Suddenly I became aware of a mental image, with sound that I couldn’t hear; like a silent movie. [...]

I told you a long time ago that Seven would be a movie (probably at its time of publication in July, 1973).

[...] For the record: Tuesday last, Alan Neuman called Jane to tell her that he had decided to make a movie of Seven himself, instead of trying to interest others in doing so. [...]

Our session is late this evening because Ruburt and Joseph watched the beginning of a (television) movie in which a young woman I will call Sarah appeared as an actress. Sarah wrote Ruburt a letter, telling him of the movie. [...]

(Jane held the session later than usual this evening because at 9:00 we began watching the first half hour of a made-for-television movie that was aired on one of the major networks. [...]

I equate this with three events: a movie I saw on TV the night before last where Sean Connery sees through the god of his people after reading The Wizard of Oz; a Raggedy Ann doll Rob found in the yard and brought in that reminded me of my old Suzie; and a part of a review I read yesterday on a book about death. [...]

(This evening we watched a movie on HBO before settling down for the session. [...]

(She felt pretty relaxed by the time the movie was over, but wanted to have the session because she thought it would contain material on Scott Nearing.)

[...] We also had the privilege throughout the afternoon of watching a “holiday special” on TV—three Godzilla/King Kong movies in a row. [...]

[...] She will do this with her mother, for instance, while they watch a late movie on TV, etc. [...]

[...] Among them was one from a Dan Curtis production company, who wants to option her life story for a possible movie for television. [...]

Seven will be a movie, but do not get involved yourselves with business details. [...]

[...] Last evening, Ruburt and Joseph watched a (television) movie — a fictional dramatization of the Watergate events. Ordinarily a session would have been held, but Ruburt was interested in the movie, and I was interested in Ruburt’s and Joseph’s reactions to it.

It was hardly a coincidence that this particular situation arrived in the social climate first of all portrayed in a movie.

(The movie is The China Syndrome, of course, with Michael Douglas, Jack Lemmon and Jane Fonda, which opened to rave reviews perhaps two weeks or so ago. [...]
