I estimate that it’ll take me five or six weeks to type the final manuscript of the book for our publisher. Then I’ll need another week to go over the manuscript, with colored pens marking instructions of each page as to what copy we want set in roman [upright] type, and in italics; while doing that I’ll also check spelling, punctuation, references, dates, times—all of those mundane details so necessary in helping our publisher produce a finished, good-looking book for the marketplace.¹

[...] They included a projection through the eastern wall of our living room, and a “visitor” who returned with her; the Latin title of a book; her awareness of a third eye; some material, with diagrams, of me as a monk who wrote manuscripts in an underground chamber that he later sealed; a vision of Seth in a brown robe, looking as I’ve painted him—but the brown robe was “too easy,” Jane said suspiciously. [...] “I’m not sure, but maybe the Spiritual Adventures thing is connected with you when you were doing those manuscripts; maybe you wrote it....” [...]

(Prior to the session Jane and I had a discussion as to the exact profession of the person who had written the many notes on the manuscript of her ESP book. [...]

Our friend of the manuscript thinks of himself as a liberal-minded man, but he will not take any giant steps away from the lines of academiclike safety.

(Jane said she thought Seth might have gone into the survival material because of some of the marginal notes made on her ESP manuscript by our unknown friend, particularly on the chapters dealing with reincarnation.

(As mentioned earlier in this manuscript, Jane had received several pages of “James material” which she’d included in Psychic Politics, and Seth had given a session last year explaining her “subjective connections” with James. [...]

[...] Again, like the Cézanne manuscript, this morning’s material “came” so quickly that she had to type as quickly as she could to keep up with its flow.

[...] He has been lately working with inner ideas of spontaneity, hence the Cézanne material, and the initial speaker’s manuscript. [...]

[...] In time the Sumari language will be replaced, you see, by symbols, hopefully fairly faithful representations of symbols used in some ancient manuscripts. The information obviously precedes [the] manuscripts.

[...] One of its services will be to teach Jane to free her inner cognitions enough so that she can translate Speaker manuscripts without distorting them out of all proportion.

(Ironically, many of the very ancient Speaker “manuscripts” are entirely verbal. [...]

That event resulted in a scribbled manuscript, unpublished, called The Physical Universe as Idea Construction. His desire and intense intent to understand more of the nature of reality triggered the production of that fragmentary automatic manuscript. [...]

[...] Therefore they planned to move our manuscripts, Ruburt’s writings, and Joseph’s paintings upstairs if the need arose. [...]

[...] They found themselves alone with the Seth material, their paintings, and other manuscripts of Ruburt’s. They had been using a mild version of self-hypnosis to produce a calmness and reduce any panic. [...]

(All week we’ve been doing additional medical notes for the copy-edited manuscript of Mass Events. [...]

[...] Seth’s amused reference was to manuscript page 457 in Mass Events. [...]

2. Jane referred here to the deleted part of tonight’s session, and Seth’s discussion therein of the work we are to do in translating early Speaker material: “The Speaker manuscripts are in your future, and will involve as I told you considerable work — a labor of love.” [...]

[...] Jane has the manuscript half done, perhaps. [...] Jane had no plans to show him the manuscript. [...]

[...] She read a few of the poems from the book to Mr. Fell over the phone and outlined her ideas for its humorous format, etc.; to her surprise he requested that she send him the manuscript for consideration. [...] Mr. Fell also asked to see the manuscript on the Seth material,and told Jane some of the plans he had for publicizing her ESP book, due to be published this May. [...]

(Mr. Fell asked Jane to make a tape of her poems to send along with the manuscript, since he enjoyed her telephone reading. [...]

[...] And Tam, it seemed, kept his hands away from the manuscript itself in the one way that Ruburt clearly understood: he did not generally change the copy. [...]

He trusted you in the manuscript itself of a Seth book to provide the accuracy of record, in which he felt he was himself relatively deficient, and also to contribute the background material he felt so necessary, yet which he found difficult himself, and he valued of course your loyalty, support, and inspiration. [...]

[...] In mid-July our friend Sue Watkins¹ began typing the rest of the final manuscript for Psyche; Jane had managed to help me out by finding the time to prepare the first five chapters for the publisher, but since we were both so busy we asked Sue for assistance. [Sue is a writer also, and knows about things like manuscripts.] Then by the time this 806th session came about, Jane estimated that she was practically through with the first handwritten draft of James. [...]

[...] The same applies to what you could do in marketing the Seth material from manuscript.

How Seth, Dreams … eventually came to be issued by Stillpoint Publishing, how it can even be thought of as a “lost manuscript,” makes a most interesting account that I’ll just outline here. [...] Last July my agent, Tam Mossman, phoned to ask that I search Jane’s papers for a manuscript he remembers her submitting to him some seventeen years ago, when he had been a young editor just beginning a career with Prentice-Hall. That manuscript is Seth, Dreams and Projection of Consciousness. As soon as he’d reviewed it back then, Tam had asked Jane to do a book on Seth himself. [...]

[...] Instead, what I found in a box in the basement was, to my amazement, a completed manuscript — a full book ready to go, one as fresh as it had ever been, and my wife had struggled with it. [...]

[...] When at his request I rediscovered Seth, Dreams … three months ago, and examined it, I couldn’t believe that that finished manuscript had never been published. [...]

[...] Late in October she signed her contracts for the publication of James, and delivered the finished manuscript at the end of November. Besides doing all of her own writing and newspaper work, Sue Watkins is close to finishing her part of the typing on the final manuscript for Seth’s Psyche; I still have to spend more time on some of the notes for it.
