[...] For purposes of analogy only, imagine that each subconscious layer is personified into a personality, who is then subjected to rendition of a dream or more, who watches a screen upon which the dream images flicker.

Every subconscious personality then would see and hear the same dream, as many persons may watch the same movie; and as each person in a theater interprets the symbolism of the drama differently, so does each layer of the subconscious interpret differently the same elements of one dream.

[...] The “I” who dreams, who is aware of motion, action and participation in a dream, this “I” is of course the inner self, focused momentarily upon the particular subconscious layer at which the dream is originated.

[...] You are unaware of these buried selves, these buried abilities, these buried creative functions and combinations, and yet in other layers of reality these come to the forefront and you allow these their play and the characteristics that you think of now so securely as your own, these are buried. Within the self that you know there are countless combinations of selves that you do not admit, and in other layers of probable realities these selves have their say and live out their potential. [...]

(9:23.) The natural person is to be found, now, not in the past or in the present, but beneath layers and layers of official beliefs, so you are dealing with an archeology of beliefs to find the person who creates beliefs to begin with. [...]

The ego is only one layer of the self that has self-consciousness. [...]

This information is, then, often interpreted on return by other layers of the self such as the body consciousness and subconscious, where it is formed into dreams that will have meaning to these areas of the self and where general teaching, for example, may be translated into practical advice involving a particular matter.

[...] They are also signals for different layers of consciousness, realization, and activity. [...]

The eye movements noted in the beginning of REM sleep are only indications of dream activity that is closely connected to the physical layers of the self. These periods mark not the onset of dreams, but the return of the personality from deeper layers of dream awareness to more surface areas.

Quite simply, the self travels to levels of awareness, and to layers of the self that are far divorced from the physical areas of mobility. [...]

Beneath this you will find the succeeding layers that have to do with personal reincarnations. Beneath this you will find material dealing with the race as a whole, and as Jane supposed even layers dealing with the prehuman state.

The entity is the sum of these layers, having all of this knowledge at conscious command at all times. [...]

[...] Most of all, there would be far — if you will excuse me — better communication between the subjective layers of the self, an increased sense of security, and, particularly with children, an earlier kindling of creative abilities.

Directly beneath this is A-3. You have an extension, again, here dealing with mass issues — movements of land, the history of your planet as you know it, the knowledge of the races that inhabited it, the history of the animals, the layers of gas and coal, and of the various ages that swept across the planet and changed it.
