JANE’S NOTES

(Some members of Jane’s “old” ESP class gathered at the hill house of Jane and Rob in Elmira, New York.

(Van Zandt, who earlier had said he doesn’t use Florida citrus juices, was relating Seth’s comments about Anita Bryant to Jane.

(When Seth’s earlier comments were being related back to Jane, someone remarked that Seth said to look at the Guyana incidents at a thousandth glance.

(Yesterday Jane began writing a rather long poem, in Sumari, that she calls The Song of the Silver Brothers. [...]

(When Jane went back to the poem this afternoon, her heightened sensations returned in a considerably intensified form. [...]

(Last night, incidentally, Jane was again busily at work on Seth’s book in her sleep, dictating material that we haven’t actually gotten to yet.

[...] May 8 was Jane’s birthday and we celebrated at the Gallaghers’ home.

[...] Jane’s eyes were open at times, her pace good.

[...] This morning I noticed a good improvement in the movement of Jane’s knees over what they were capable of, say, a month ago. [...]

(Before supper this evening Jane said she was tired of “trying to figure out the world,” and so forth. [...]

(I told Jane that I’d long given up trying to hammer out my next writing project, as Seth had mentioned I was trying to do in one of these recent deleted sessions. [...]

[...] I told Jane that I regretted starting that whole business, but she responded by saying that we’d have to do it sometime, probably, so we might as well go through with it. [...]

[...] Jane’s pace was average, her eyes open at times, her voice better than usual, yet not loud. [...]

[...] Jane said she felt no trouble. [...]

(After the session, Jane said she felt that Seth was still around, which was unusual. [...]

[...] It concerns Jane’s out-of-body experience of last night. [...]

(The next day Jane called the electric company to see if there had been a power failure, even momentarily, in our neighborhood. [...]

(Seth now gave two pages of material for Jane, and ended the session at 11:45 PM.)

SECOND ESSAY BY JANE ROBERTS: DREAMS FOR TWO AND SETH BEGINS A NEW PROJECT

[...] A vague uneasiness was growing in my mind: It seemed that Prentice-Hall was taking unusually long to officially clear The God of Jane and Seth’s The Individual and the Nature of Mass Events. [...]

[...] “I vaguely have the pyramid effect,” Jane said at 9:10. [...]

[...] Jane said she must have changed. [...]

(Re the sentence by Seth about a book for Macmillan Co.: Richard Bach, of Seagull fame, and his editor from Macmillan, Eleanor Friede, are to visit us on Tuesday, September 19, according to a note Jane has received from him.)

(This concerns my recent suggestions to Jane that she concentrate upon the beauty and pleasure of the moment; even when she is performing a difficult task, or finds herself brooding, etc. [...]

[...] This proved to be the end of the session. I suggested to Jane that she train herself to focus upon external objects while doing things like getting up and down, that had bothered her. [...]

(In Monday’s session Seth had started a discussion of Jane’s recent visitor, “Augustus,” who had shown definite signs of a subordinate or secondary personality. As we sat for tonight’s session Jane said, “I know what Seth’s going to call Augustus’s other personality: ‘Augustus Two.’” We were amused, thinking of Seth and Seth Two.¹ Now, Jane began speaking slowly in trance.)

[...] Jane remembered nothing of what Seth had said. [...]

[...] During a spontaneous exchange, Seth delivered some insights concerning his own origin and creative aspects, and why Jane’s personality would make the emergence of a Seth possible. [...]

(I’m just waiting,” Jane said at 9:19, after we’d been sitting for the session for perhaps fifteen minutes. [...]

[...] Now Seth came through with a couple of paragraphs of material for Jane, here deleted. [...]

[...] After a few comments about Jane’s and my belief systems, Seth said good night at 10:40 P.M.

(During her mid-morning exercise-and-rest break today, I asked Jane if she had any idea why Seth had come through with the material he’d given us in last Monday evening’s session. [...]

(Jane has grown increasingly restless over the breaks in her activities that are caused by the rest periods she’s taking several times daily. [...]

(In spite of her protestations, however, Jane felt Seth near as we talked —then when he came through he did discuss the subjects we were concerned about at the moment.)

(Jane’s arms and legs have been sore today, off and on, but she feels that beneficial changes are taking place in them as a result of the sessions on the magical approach to reality. [...]

After supper Jane said that Seth might talk about reincarnation, schizophrenia, and possession, tying those subjects together. [...]

2. Jane’s mention of reincarnation came from my idle speculations at our evening meal, after we’d been told about how a local man and woman had embarked upon a radically new joint life-style, to the consternation of many in our area. [...]

(While we were eating breakfast this morning Jane and I heard a peculiar multiple “barking” sound that came from the sky. [...]

(I found the spectacle strangely moving, and so did Jane. [...]

(Jane’s delivery as Seth was fast from the beginning of the session.)

(Earlier today Jane and I had been discussing how best to go about writing her projected book on the Seth material. [...]

[...] Jane snapped out of trance easily. [...]

[...] (Still in trance, Jane got up and walked into the kitchen, looking for a cigarette. [...]

[...] Jane seemed to have a hard time coming out of trance and Sally touched her shoulder and said, “Jane, are you coming back?” Seth came through abruptly.)

[...] Our friend here (Jane) had some experience last evening so I will not keep him overlong. [...]

(Seth withdrew, and as break was starting and Jane began coming out of trance, Florence, shaking her fingers after writing for so long, made a comment that she wished the tape recorder was here. [...]
