1. Just before giving the 861st session last week, Jane received from Seth some intriguing material on the idea that in psychological therapy, the good intents and impulses beneath the client’s emotional and physical hassles should be searched out by the analyst. [...]

Then in the 861st session itself — which was not for Mass Events, as stated — Seth briefly mentioned the material on ideals and impulses he’s been giving in recent book sessions. [...]

Ruburt’s impulse to take Emir from Prentice—his impulse to call others, his call to Eleanor—all of these events represent a change of mood, and inner decisions of which Ruburt is not as yet aware.

[...] He allowed the impulse to surface initially, and then he allowed himself to act upon it, in a sense “throwing caution to the wind.” [...]

The impulse allowed Framework 2 to operate, pulling in new probabilities. [...]

He has been doing exceedingly well, for him, in that regard, following impulses to houseclean and so forth—trusting the entire shape of his nature. [...] Sunday is not considered a “workday,” however, so it was easier for him to follow through on those impulses. [...]

The impulse to do the floors, however, creatively stimulated Framework 2 activity. [...]

[...] He followed the impulse to nap, but when he did not instantly find a perceivable “good result” afterward, he began to doubt himself again.

[...] So if he gives in to an impulse to cry then he feels he forces you to behave in a stereotyped male way—in a role you have rejected, and rightly so.

[...] He is using more nourishment, building new cells, and should be alert so that he eats however often when he feels the impulse. [...]

Such an impulse, followed, will lead to its own performance the means will be given. Before, Ruburt’s fear prevented him from even acknowledging many such impulses to act. [...]

[...] Ruburt’s faith and habits allowed the initial impulse its freedom, and that impulse, expressed, carried within it the means of its own fulfillment, and the book unfolded. [...]

[...] Faith in a creative, fulfilling, desired end, sustained faith, literally draws from Framework 2 all of the necessary ingredients, all of the elements however staggering in number, arranges all the details, and then inserts into Framework 1 the impulses, dreams, chance meetings, motivations, or whatever is necessary so that the desired end then falls into place as a completed pattern.

Impulses toward action will be naturally rearoused, and desires toward spontaneous action will find more and more release. Driving now is good, for it represents one of Ruburt’s few connections with the natural outside world, and as he does improve, his impulses, natural impulses, will begin to show themselves. [...]

The mood, however, and the results that you achieved today, if sustained, draws to you from all of your experience and from the vast potential of Framework 2 those body events, healing situations, dreams, impulses, or whatever is needed to right Ruburt’s condition.

[...] Since I’d been thinking of Wanda rather strongly last week, wondering whether the doctor in question could help Jane and her eye condition, I took our meeting as a clear case of the workings of Framework 2. On impulse I asked Wanda if she could arrange an appointment for Jane, and was surprised to hear that it could be set up for next Monday. [...]

(Driving home, I had misgivings about my actions in making the appointment without consulting Jane, but told myself I trusted my impulse and the working of Framework 2. I also felt that Jane would never see a doctor on her own. [...]

[...] His impulsive nature is actually somewhat more restrained in this life than it was in the previously past life. [...]

The impulsive and warm quality began with that midwest existence as a woman. [...]

Ruburt now feels the impulse to sit up on the side of his bed—an excellent development, for action follows impulse. [...]

The impulse was always present, but earlier it was buried beneath the conglomeration of negative mental and physical habits. [...]

No electrical reality is composed of simply one impulse. Although we must speak in these terms for simplicity’s sake, every electrical impulse is of itself composed of a truly endless variety and range of intensities. In other words, each electrical impulse contains within it its own infinity of variations.

[...] This is obviously impossible for the physical camouflaged self, but it is not impossible for the inner self, which as you know has its own electrical reality, which is again composed of particular impulses and intensities.

While the large proportion remain relatively hidden, however, the average person often meets with dream fragments just below the normal threshold of consciousness — not recognizing them as what they are — experiencing instead the impulse to do this or that on a given day; to eat this or that, or to refrain from something else.
