5. Concentrate on his theories, ideas, rather, than on thoughts of work.

Once you accept, you see, that idea then you must, if you follow your thought completely through, accept the idea of a random accidental universe in which you are at the mercy of any accident; in which mind or purpose have little meaning; in which you are at the mercy of all random happenings; in which 300,000 human beings can be swept off the face of the planet without reason, without cause, simply at the whim of an accidental happening. [...] Now, each of you create the ambiguous universe that you live in, and you project your ideas of reality upon it. [...]

You magnify the differences of culture as a background and idea instead of realizing that you are both human beings embarked on a magnificent adventure. [...]

[...] I don’t see where you got the idea that I thought the way you are talking.”)

[...] You are merely allowing yourself a momentary release from the limitations of camouflage ideas, and release of these ideas brings a corresponding release from the physical camouflage patterns themselves. [...]

You have no idea of the bulk of the material on the inner senses that is still to be covered, and until you have learned much more about them we cannot even begin any real discussion of many other units of activity, because it would be incomprehensible.

[...] Your camouflage idea of time is no help, and until you realize that time as you think of it does not exist in any real terms, then you will not be able to understand the true nature of your universe.

[...] The phenomena that are given as evidence of this kind of expanding universe are the result of camouflage instruments, distortive ideas of time, and the resulting cause and effect theory.

(It might be interesting to note that at the time Jane received this idea, I was working on an index for the 35th session, of March 16, 1964. [...]

(Jane had no idea of the material for the session as the time for it approached, although she said her arms felt a “little light” from the state she had achieved at 8:15 and later. [...]

Ruburt’s idea of writing down his daily predictions is an excellent one, and will help him develop his abilities. [...]

(And as we said at break, one of those ideas that seems so simple, once heard; so obvious that we wondered why we hadn’t thought of it long ago ourselves.)

The introductory book is still an excellent idea, and a challenge to Ruburt’s own ability.

[...] At other times simply go along with them, without such ideas, and your intuitions will deliver their own product.

1. “The entire idea of the magical approach,” Seth told us, “is of itself sustaining.

There are many distortions in the universal mind book that Ruburt reads, and yet overall the ideas presented are highly advantageous. [...]

[...] This is directly caused by the fact that you suspect such ideas as these, beneficial on theoretical grounds, but quite impractical in your actuality.

I began writing more and more poetry, quite caught up with many of the ideas that Seth was discussing. [...]

Yet all of those events seemed to happen in a slightly different kind of atmosphere than before, as Seth’s ideas of the Magical Approach cast their light upon current behavior. [...]

2. The “officially accepted life” mentioned here reminded me that in the last (694th) session Seth used the phrase “your officially recognized idea of physical reality” in discussing the role probable events played in our world history. [...]

[...] Some hints from me will help, but I would like to give you some idea, you see, of what to expect.

[...] There is a kind of idea, or mental body, a counterpart in many ways, but not always, to the physical body, which is the structure the self takes in what you may call for now fourth dimension.

[...] At this time, of course, before Jane had seen the object, I had no idea that it would remind her strongly of a man, and hence possibly give rise to the photo data.

[...] At any rate it seems that the texture, the rough stonelike feel and appearance of the pigment on the object, could have given rise to the rock or stone impressions which in turn could conjure up the step data and so lead to the idea of a photo.

4. Jane and I heartily disagree with this idea.

[...] Saw no images at all, and had no idea whether anything made sense to her or was just subconscious fabrication on my part. [...] She told us his first name was really George; of course we were surprised, and had no idea of this. [...]

(I had no idea, consciously, that I could go into such a deep trance or for that matter, give such precise information. [...]

[...] I didn’t know my abilities were that good, to tell the truth; and had no idea that there was any danger of acting as a medium without Seth. [...]

[...] What I was actually doing was trying to point you toward Framework 2, where you do each have faith in the nature of ideas, suggestions, and achievement. You know the power of an idea, but you have not applied that to the physical problem. [...]

The whole idea of the release of muscles, joints, the physical procedure, involves necessary methods and procedures while you are operating in Framework 1, and there you always are looking for the necessary quite vital evidence of improvement. [...]

[...] There followed a rather complicated discussion between us about the idea of questions for Seth—why I seemed to have them, but Jane seldom did. [...]
