[...] First had come her reactions to a group of upsetting letters she’d received this noon: One is a 20-page missive from a mental patient who wants returned to him all of the notes, objects, manuscripts, and books of poetry he’s sent her over the years: another is from a woman who informed us that she’s writing a book dictated by Seth: a third is a long letter from a man who’s claiming us as his counterparts, for reasons we can’t agree with. [...]

A brilliant mathematician or scientist, or even an artist, or an accepted genius in any field, can be an emotional incompetent, but no one considers him as retarded. [...]

[...] She told me that Seth had changed the beginning of the session because of her reactions to the mail this noon, but that finally he’d gotten into some of the material she’d picked up from him today, and written down. [...]

(“I do feel him slightly around,” she said at 7:30. [...]

[...] It will help them fade faster—and if you can, lovingly reassure him rather than act like a fine professor with a stubborn student (with some humor). [...]

[...] He has of course improved, and in general strength, since returning home—but in the hospital nothing was demanded or expected of him. [...]

[...] He was not sure enough of his new world; he was still enough a part of the old one so that he often saw his life and abilities through the eyes of the “old world inhabitants” — the others who might scorn him, or set him up for ridicule.¹³ They represented portions of his own psyche still at that level of consciousness, not having quite assimilated the greater knowledge or experience, so he felt he needed protection — the protection that would … cleverly … serve all of his purposes, allowing him to go ahead as he wanted to … that would keep him at home working, and yet also serve as a control against too much inner spontaneity until he learned that he could indeed trust the new world of experience.

[...] By making a strong effort she’d speeded up her reception of him so that he came through sounding like the familiar Seth. [...]

[...] I told him that both of my parents were dead.

3. In one way or another, once a day have him do something to act upon the new beliefs. [...]

(I saw him fall to, or lying, on the moon surface, in some kind of trouble. [...]

[...] By the 15th session he was explaining Jane’s role as a translator for him, putting concepts into words, etc. [...]

[...] Occasionally I do communicate without this psychological framework, as when I impress him directly, telepathically, with a concept.

[...] I wanted the word war in the plural; however the plural gave him the idea of the number, which was blended with the sound of war, into four.

[...] It is now apparent to him.

[...] Now, you ask your Bega—for I have told him the message and I have told him to tell you. [...]

[...] Now, he does not know this, so I will give you the honor of telling him. [...]

[...] Now, Bega has been here as I have been here and he was calling you to look toward the corner of the room—and you were too intellectually smug to do so as Ruburt is often too intellectually smug to do what I ask him to do. [...]

[...] This allowed him to come into touch with childhood’s early vitality — and in a sensual manner, not just, say, as a memory.

The excellent glowing colors also helped remind him of the eyes’ ability to perceive bright hues, and so activated the nerves and muscles of the eyes, reminding them of their natural capabilities.

The book which Ruburt has been reading tended to turn him inward. [...]

The slight but perceivable feeling of lightness in his hands could have given him notice of this fact. [...]

(9:40 P.M. Jane said that in his dictation this evening, Seth covered some of the information she’d picked up from him nonverbally, then written about prior to the session that wasn’t held last Wednesday night. [...]

[...] This in turn led him to comment on the notes Jane had just written. [...]

[...] Some advance material was given to him for his own use ahead of time, so to speak.

It seemed to him that the information “just came,” but not already prepared into words. [...]

[...] Ruburt correctly interpreted an analogy I gave him in which I compared thoughts to individual cells, and belief systems to the physical organs, which are composed of cells. [...]

(We would like to insert a note here to Roger, to the effect that we would like him to go over the two sessions and give us a detailed written summary of the data given through Jane, in answer to the mathematical questions he sent Jane. This applies whether the answers satisfy him, or make any kind of sense, or not. [...]

[...] Carl studied math for two years in college; reading the first session, he said that the ideas presented by Jane in trance made sense to him; he cited some examples to us and worked out some figures, especially concerning quadrants, and drew some diagrams. [...]

[...] Before, Ruburt’s fear prevented him from even acknowledging many such impulses to act. [...] The inner organizations immediately trigger all the necessary actions required, from Framework 2. This applies to any issue – but again, your creative abilities, used on behalf of Ruburt’s physical condition will give him a normally cooperating body.

The material of mine that Ruburt read tonight can help him again now. [...]

[...] It is his attempt to try and match your individual methods of thought that confuse him. [...]

He favors at this time one side, and all his weight and emphasis and direction bears him to the right. [...]

[...] His feeling that his work pattern should be like yours makes him worry when he becomes very relaxed. [...]

[...] You see, I am not using a flower, and the onion comes up and it insists that it must know who God is and where He is that makes him grow. And so our onion, with the full vitality within it to grow from the inside out, as all things grow, instead looks at the fine carrot next to him, and such a lovely hue, and examines the carrot in his mind to see if this is God.
