Every once in a while the fear rises that he will, after all, not leave this room or walk again. He handles this by sternly saying “cancel,” and by telling himself that he cannot afford such negative ideas. [...]

The fears arise when he concentrates upon impediments, wondering how he will do this or that. Instead, of course, he should then remind himself of the roles of the conscious and the unconscious minds—and then remind himself that the unconscious mind can handle such matters easily—as indeed it can. [...]

He is, however, passing the gas, and that is excellent. [...] His fear, however, shows that he still has the remnants of old doubts. [...] Before long, however, he will be much more confident as his own improvements convince him of his body’s overall vitality, and its resurge of excellent health. [...]

(I told Jane I’d called Paul O’Neill about her teeth last night, and that he’d be getting back to us soon about the best way to get her fixed up. [...]

Sometimes Ruburt may show an excellent improvement, as he did reading this afternoon, or a limb may suddenly move in a much freer manner. [...]

[...] I suggested Seth comment if he returned. [...]

[...] However, I am afraid that we must temporarily clip his wings, for indeed he would go too fast, too soon.

When he ceases activity however, he has a tendency to activate the symptoms rather than direct his attention elsewhere. The letup of physical activity is not the issue, though he thinks it is at the end of the day. [...] Then he uses his book and suggestion to clear the air and begins again anew.

You sent vital healing energy and resolution to his physical body, and the heat he felt was the result of this energy. [...]

[...] This represents a good amount of development on his part, since earlier he found it difficult to address himself to activity.

He will shortly find that some days he can walk fairly easily—perhaps 10 steps—in that manner, or maybe even twice in one day, while for a few days in between he is not in good-enough balance. I would suggest walking three times a day now, as he has been doing, but one more time. [...]

[...] The steps he has taken without putting his full weight on the table, for example, are highly important. He should look for that impulse each time he walks with the table. [...]

(Day before yesterday we received from Tam a copy of his memo to J. Nelson, P. Grenquist, and A. Freemyer; he’s checked the Dutch contract for Seth Speaks, and learned that it contained a clause prohibiting cutting. [...]

He is not responsible for other people’s realities, but he is responsible for his own. [...] The situation, however, shows that he sometimes still thinks he should be able to solve all problems, and to know all the reasons for any given sorrow or tragedy. [...]

[...] Have him remember that creative activity goes on within him all of the time, and he is often most active precisely when he is not aware of it. He is only aware of those moments when creative activity surges into his conscious awareness, and by then much of the “work” has already been done.

New sentence: In your historical past, when man identified his identity with the soul, he actually gave himself greater leeway in terms of psychological mobility, but eventually the concept of the soul as held resulted in a distrust of the intellect. [...]

He concentrates, and he is thinking of a number, perhaps a zero. He sits at a straight-backed chair. [...]

[...] He wears something checked, small checks, but of a darkish rather than light, or bright, overall color. He makes a fist. [...]

Approximately four days from now, I believe your Dr. Instream will receive an important letter, for which he has been waiting, and that he will receive confirmation concerning his own hypnosis experiments.

4. See Seth’s very acute discussions of the soul (or entity) in sessions 526–28 for Chapter 6 of Seth Speaks. He came through with many excellent points. I’ve always been intrigued by the remark he made just before 10:43 in the 526th session: “You are one manifestation of your own soul.” [...]

[...] Any reader can easily discover this by examining the groups to which he or she belongs.

I will tell the reader how he sees what he sees, or hears what he hears, and why. [...]

While my communications will come exclusively through Ruburt at all times, to protect the integrity of the material, I will invite the reader to become aware of me as a personality, so that he may then realize that communication from other realities is possible, and that he himself is therefore open to perception that is not physical.

* correct—It was a Christmas gift and he had bought the same item, a watch for his wife. They both knew what the other had bought and decided to open them Xmas eve because they knew.

Ruburt’s eyeglasses will shortly need changing, since he insists upon using them. The use of them, however, would not be necessary if he would utilize the healing abilities which he possesses.

[...] He can use them with the aid of the unconscious, and he certainly is learning to use his unconscious.

[...] But again, as soon as the session began he calmed down and began to doze in a chair.

He did not.

[...] The earthly viewer attempts to correlate what he sees with what he supposedly knows or imagines possible, in the little he understands of the universe.

Rob was intrigued not only by the material but by Seth himself as he began to manifest his own personality more clearly. [...] But on this particular night, Rob watched, amused, while Seth told him in no uncertain terms what he thought of my experiment — using my own lips to do it! [...]

“Does it?” Rob asked, turning the remark around at me, as he often does. He seemed so sure of himself and of the material; I envied him.

[...] He could see the change that came over me while I was speaking for Seth, and Seth inspires confidence. [...] Almost from the beginning he was an objectified personality to Rob; a visitor regardless of the unconventional situation; someone in whose ideas Rob was tremendously interested. [...]

If he did not conduct them, the tests, himself, then he is strongly aware of them. [...]

He will think that two endeavors are involved, and will realize that one united product has been achieved instead. He saw a female child because the product will be intuitive, and psychic, rather than born from logic.

The product will not come from pain, and so he felt none in the dream. [...] This simply represents another creative project which he shall deliver, with our help.

[...] We shall indeed discuss Ruburt’s dream in good time, when he is not expecting it. [...]

[...] He has witnessed a few sessions, perhaps two years ago. Today he told us that as he drove within about four blocks of our house, he received the strong urge to visit us.)

Your father used hay fever as a symptom of helplessness, and as a demand for the attention that he did not get, even then, from your mother. [...] He discarded the symptoms because they did not get him what he wanted. [...]

[...] Barbara asked Dick why he shouldn’t get married. Dick replied there was no reason he should, since he now sat with “two fine women,” both of them good looking; or words to that effect.

[...] He strongly wished for the friend’s presence. [...]

For one thing, Monday’s session hit him in the solar plexus, so to speak; and all joking aside, the session did take quite a bit out of him, simply because he was inclined to block the material, though he did not in most instances.

(It will be recalled that in the 68th session, page 221, in relation to Bill’s projected trip, Seth had stated that he saw Bill meeting an older man “with prickly hair,” and that he saw a rowboat with a symbol on it. [...]

His initial attempt at kindliness at the gallery the following day took more out of him, although he quickly saw that my diagnosis of the situation there was correct.
