Let us consider the idea of original sin, all of the colorful forms it may take within your body of concepts, and the ways in which these will affect your behavior and experience.

Each inner self, adopting a new body, imposes upon it and upon its entire genetic makeup, memory of the past physical forms in which it has been involved. Now, not only human beings form their own reality, but all consciousness forms its own reality. [...]

There was a civilization, and I am writing this in my book and some of you know of it—a civilization, in your terms, in your dim past, in which a group of human beings tried to form a physical body that could not act violently and when violence was threatened the body automatically closed off from action. I also intend, and had intended this evening, to go into the causes behind the difference with which various physical individuals and species manage to make their physical forms endure, as far as continuity in your time is concerned. [...]

The very slowing-down process itself helps “freeze” the activity into a form. At the death of a cell a reverse process occurs — the death is the escape of that energy from the cell form, its release, the release itself triggering certain stages of acceleration. [...] Such faster-than-light behavior, then, helps form the basis for the physical universe. This characteristic is an attribute of the CU’s, which have already slowed down to some extent when they form EE units.²

[...] Those disturbances are the result of a slowing down of prior effects of faster-than-light activity, and represent the emergence into your space-time system of energy that can then be effectively used and formed into the cellular pattern.

The whole idea was developed in the most mechanistic of terms, stressing competition among all aspects of life, pitting one life form against another, and using physical strength and dexterity, swiftness and efficiency, as the prime conditions for the survival of any individual or species.

[...] All such concepts appear in one form or another at most official levels of thought and education. [...]
