You cannot be alive without faith, yet faith can be distorted. There is faith in good, but there is also faith in “evil.” In usual terms faith takes it for granted that a certain desired end will be achieved, even though the means may not be known. In usual terms, again, there is no direct evidence, otherwise you would have no need for faith.

When you fear the worst will happen, you often are showing quite real faith in a backwards fashion, for with no direct evidence before your eyes of disaster, you heartily believe it will occur—you have faith in it (with emphasis and irony). That is, indeed, misplaced faith.

The young woman, Frances (Gardella), who wrote Ruburt, with no evidence was certain she would be followed—tomorrow if not today. I want to point out that faith is not all that unusual, but a prime element in your life. You can have faith that you will be ill. This should be obvious, because for example there are healthy people also, with no evidence of any disease, who have utter faith that disease is hidden within them, or swiftly approaching.

[...] I want to point out the efficiency of faith when you feel it, so take advantage of those moments when you feel faith strong in yourself, for at such times you connect with Framework 2 most securely.

Your own faith is also beginning to arouse new confidence in your work, in your painting. Faith does not restrict itself to one area, but shows it effects in all portions of your life.

[...] You came back however with your former brother in a wife-husband relationship and the farm connection in your later life has to do with this earlier reincarnational existence, in your terms, in which you (Faith) were very closely involved. [...]

In your joint creativity, you sustained each other’s faith through the years. [...] You were not driven by fear, but desire, not by doubts but by hope and faith. [...] Ruburt has noted sometimes a worry and lack of faith, and so have you. [...]

You are beginning to awaken your faith, but still afraid to believe. Ruburt has had some excellent moments of such faith, however, and those moments add up. [...]

As a child, you are immersed in Framework 2. Along the way you are taught that it is unrealistic to have any kind of faith unless physical evidence is behind it, but then, of course, you are not working with faith at all.

(I have the simple, profound faith that anything I desire in this life can come to me from Framework 2. There are no impediments in Framework 2. Framework 2 can creatively produce everything I desire to have in Framework 1—my excellent health, painting, and writing, my excellent relationship with Jane, Jane’s own spontaneous and glowing physical flexibility and creativity, the greater and greater sales of all of her books. I knew that all of these positive goals are worked out in Framework 2, regardless of their seeming complexity, and that they can then show themselves in Framework 1. I have the simple, profound faith that everything I desire in life can come to me from the miraculous workings of Framework 2. I do not need to be concerned with details of any kind, knowing that Framework 2 possesses the infinite creative capacity to handle and produce everything I can possibly ask of it. My simple, profound faith in the creative goodness of Framework 2 is all that is necessary.)

[...] You must learn to reinforce each other’s faith in Ruburt’s constant improvements, as you have encouraged each other’s faith in your own and each other’s creative abilities.

You have faith in your work. [...]

When Ruburt feels blue he does of course show it, yet he is still worried that such moods will weaken your own faith, and the same applies to you. [...]

Faith itself then becomes an active ingredient in your lives in that regard. That is why your suggestions of today are so vital, stating that you do have faith that Ruburt’s condition is now in the process of being healed in Framework 2, and that the results will show in Framework 1. It is important that you realize that the healing is now taking place in Framework 2 whether or not you see immediate results in any given day or not. That is where faith comes in.

[...] Once you allow your faith to take some root, then you yield far more than you sow in Framework 2, and in results in Framework 1. Positively, you see that kind of acceleration in Ruburt’s work, and if you give yourselves a chance you will see it also as far as Ruburt’s physical condition is concerned. (Long pause at 9:05.) He is presently encountering that kind of feeling, uncovering the reasons for it, and trying to recapture in a way the very young innocent self’s sense of faith. That faith existed even before churchly doctrine was imposed over it. He is trying to uncover his own natural faith. [...]

The body, again, does possess such a natural faith, and it has nothing to do with esoteric methods and so forth—but again deals with a kind of self-evident biological knowledge. [...]

Now unless you come to terms with your own doubts about yourselves then you will have no idea what faith is and when I use the word faith, I am not speaking in religious terms. When you look at your physical reality and see what it is this does not take faith, it is a simple matter of physical perception. To some extent the perspective one, two, three material is related to Frameworks 1 and 2, for the symbols of your mind grow in their own fashion, changing shape and form, but following the emotional content rather faithfully. If you truly understood what I am saying, you would realize the importance of encouraging optimistic, jestful feelings of faith, of cultivating them—for it is far more important to collect them than money. Your faith is the answer, and the use to which you put your creativity, for the more you apply it to Ruburt’s condition the quicker the results.

Many birds in their fantastic migrations demonstrate an amazing optimism, traveling thousands of miles to distant shores, almost literally flying by faith, as it were, ignoring all dangers, unbeseiged by doubts. [...] Even if some birds do fall or die, this in no way impedes or undermines the faith of the others.

In all such cases there is an inbred biological faith, that courage and vitality, that biological optimism. [...]
