“Seth material” search engine (Jane Roberts)

(Very late in the evening, Carl Watkins woke me to express concern because of the length of the session tonight—at perhaps 1 AM or later. [...]

[...] For many people will accept the same philosophy when expressed as it was in the 725th session, and yet be quite upset when those ideas are discussed in the vernacular, in language that certainly cannot be considered ambiguous in any fashion.)

There is a need within man to feel and express heroic impulses. [...]

[...] In notes at the end of this session I’ll briefly consider the latest expressions of large-scale consciousnesses concerning Three Mile Island¹ and the countries of the Middle East,² and then will unify those discussions by explaining how I think those great events of consciousness have counterpart relationships, just as “living” entities do.³ I’ll also refer to our country’s space-shuttle program.⁴ Next, I have to put into final form the complicated notes I began for a number of sessions for Dreams as Jane delivered them. [...] In the opening notes for that session, I quoted her as writing on December 7: “I do feel a blockage of expression; my ass hurts typing—a sweet soreness of joints I sit on that brings tears briefly; yet it is a stretching sensation.” [...]

I can’t note the same for The Magical Approach to Reality: A Seth Book—the very promising work that Jane and I first discussed a year and a half ago [in August 1980], after Seth had started his group of excellent private sessions on that subject.⁸ I watched Jane try to write the book a number of times; last month, in Note 6 for Session 939 [in this chapter], I finally expressed the opinion that she wouldn’t finish the job. [...]

[...] It always has been and it always will be; she has expressed her way over and over again in her deceptively simple poetry, as well as in the sessions. [...]

He believed that his creativity was highly specifically oriented to its artistic expression only. [...] He believed that often creativity expressed itself at the expense of other portions of the self, and that if it were allowed to spill over the edges (with gestures) from artistic productivity into normal living, then it would lead to all kinds of disruptive activity. [...]

[...] So there was a give-and-take involved in which the blacks expressed certain tendencies for the country as a whole, while the whites expressed other characteristics.

[...] Jane had also expressed a strong desire for some personal information in the session.)

[...] The divine gestalt, however, is expressed in such a way that its quality (pause) is undiluted. [...]

You are aware, alert, and participating in many more realities than you know as your soul expresses itself through you. [...]

[...] It is a part of the action of your being and consciousness, but as the eye cannot see its own shifting colors and expressions, as it is not aware that it lives and dies constantly as its atomic structure changes, so you are not aware that the ego continually changes, dies, and is reborn.

[...] I do not want to affect its development now, however, in an overt fashion by comments, and I prefer that many of the insights are directly expressed in that manner, rather say than by my own interpretation of them. [...]

Foremost, connected with the distortions about creativity and expression, is the belief that knowledge itself is dangerous, evil, and bound to lead to disaster. [...]

[...] Once I start a work in a certain mode, it becomes somewhat set in that expression; this is inevitable if one is to ever complete the physical painting. [...]

1. With a little reflection it becomes obvious, but I think it important to note that Jane’s expression of the Seth material is certainly the result of her direct cognition. [...]

Such feeling-tone “words” (in quotes), with pantomime or the expressive body, can therefore come closer often than structured language to convey various levels of emotion, to explain levels of subjective feeling that are often distorted in recognizable words.

Impulses therefore will be allowed a more natural expression, as the daily stretching of the muscles adds to his trust of them and of his body.

[...] Before, those found expression in his dealings with the outside world—but those dealings, he felt, were no longer necessary.

Guest houses that have bedrooms two stories up, how he can get downstairs, that sort of thing—but he has not expressed them. [...]

[...] Look each other in the eye, let your feelings rise and then express them in the sounds that come to you. [...]

[...] Jane then expressed a desire to obtain in the future as firm a commitment from witnesses as possible, well in advance of the session in question. [...]

Because the entity has not expressed but withheld the basic femininity of its nature, it has fed back upon itself so that the overall identity of the entity appears as feminine simply because there is a backlog of those characteristics thought of as feminine.

[...] The expressions come and go but certain habitual patterns remain.

[...] They should also be expressed, and again, they then clear the road for new energy.

[...] I made no effort at the time to examine my own subjective states — I simply expressed them as best I could and then criticized the poems on their aesthetic merits. [...]

[...] Certainly this frightened me and was probably partly responsible for the feelings expressed in the following poem — feelings, I think, that are quite prevalent during early adulthood:
