“Seth material” search engine (Jane Roberts)

[...] Some of my recent work has been in the abstract vein, also, and incorporates squares, angles, etc., some of them in brilliant primary colors. Actually I have not painted any pictures on the specific batch of linen which furnished tonight’s envelope object; but I have painted on other canvas of a comparable texture, etc., and which was prepared in the same manner. [...]

[...] Tom has an old sports car, and not long after I had bought the canvas, he described the car to Jane on one of her visits there, detailing his troubles with it, etc.

(The row of old buildings on West Water Street has been in for much discussion recently, as eyesores, etc. [...]

(On the page opposite the title page is a long detailed list of Louis Pomerantz’s previous experience, places of study, etc. [...] He has also been employed in various Midwest locations, Chicago, etc. [...]

[...] Seth presented some very interesting material on flying saucers, time, other systems, etc. [...]

[...] Both edifices being made of stone, as well as with additions of brick, etc.

(I explained now to Jane that the material tonight was very good, and that I hadn’t given her clues to it, etc., especially as regards the color experiments, characterization, the full-figure work, the essentials required for drawing the full figure convincingly, etc. [...]

(Once again, the material in the last delivery was very good, with much intuitive insight as regards character, background, emotion, etc., in painting. [...] At the moment however they will center chiefly about New York City galleries, names, etc.)

(All of the data in this session is very good, very accurate, incidentally, summing up nicely feelings, intuitions, hunches, etc., that I have had. [...]

(There is little available on Rembrandt’s correspondence—a few letters; inventories attached to his bankruptcy in later life, etc. [...] Rembrandt did do business with a wealthy art collector in Sicily, selling him some very famous works—Aristotle Contemplating the Bust of Homer, etc., and a series of etchings late in life. [...] Historians generally say, for want of any other facts, that these business transactions were done by mail, etc.

[...] (While we were in Sayre; Jane was doing the washing; mother was cooking dinner, etc.) He remembered you and the pendulum, and having none there instead allowed submerged feelings up. [...]

[...] True, Jane didn’t express those feelings to me in those terms, but she let me know she was quite upset, etc. [...]

(Eddie Albert calls again today telling me he just finished Speaks, asking about world problems, starvation, good and evil, etc. [...]

[...] Eddie seeing me might think understandably: how can she offer any hope for mankind, etc., when she cant even walk across the room? [...]

[...] But my reluctance was based, I thought, on my resentment at Prentice-Hall over their handling of art work; I really didn’t want to let the photos in question out of the house, for fear they’d be lost, etc. This in spite of Tam’s assurances some months ago that they’d be handled with care, etc. [...] But I missed out on the connections involving my mother, disclosure, etc.

[...] As soon as I realized that she was rebelling against a way of life that we had fallen into, probably mainly at my unwitting behest, I tried to make amends by leaving the job, etc. [...]

[...] I have been for her success, especially since I began to understand my poor reactions to the publication of her first book—jealousy, etc.

(I agree with all of the above, except that perhaps leadership should be a mutual thing in our case, one’s strengths bolstering the others’ weaker points, etc.)

[...] I had suspected some points, but most was very revealing, especially my subconscious reasons re land ownership, Jane’s very excellent way of personifying wherever she lived, etc., and her unknown ability for real estate dealing, etc.

[...] I have often puzzled over our lack of action in seeking larger quarters, etc. My ambiguous feelings re owning land, rather than purely financial considerations, is quite instructive, etc.)

[...] It appeared to work, and while I rather easily put myself into some kind of trance state I at the same time gave my beneficial suggestions, etc., aiming principally at relaxation, to reduce the back tension I could feel building up.

(While it was progressing I began to feel very loose and relaxed, my head rolled, etc. [...]

[...] There were mix-ups, in which Miss Callahan’s doctor was waiting for her at the emergency room at the hospital while Miss Callahan stayed home, and during which time Jane called the relatives several times, pleading with them to help, etc. [...]

[...] Then for a few sessions we received what seemed to be understandable information in the form of various names, initials, dates, places, etc. [...]

Now even when Jane delivers an answer via Seth that may be five typewritten pages long, she never repeats herself, loses track of what she is saying, uses the words “uh,” “er,” etc., or changes in any way what she had said. [...]

As for the question of distortions in the material, and the obvious contradictions in the early sessions as far as dates, etc., are concerned: The reasons for these are dealt with by Seth as the material unfolds. [...]

[...] See sessions 449 & 450, and the attached correspondence, etc. We also talked about the California session involving Bill Macdonnel, auto accidents, etc., and other material—see the 435th session. [...]

[...] The stories by Peg Gallagher dealt with the origin of the Seth material, Seth himself, and quotes from various sessions as well as the way the material is gathered, etc. [...]

(Jane began speaking as Seth in an active manner, often humorously, with emphasis and gestures, eyes open, voice good, pace faster than usual, etc.)

[...] I was remembering a lot of other such statements by Seth about vacations, etc., none of which accomplished anything that I could remember. I was remembering now what Seth had said earlier in the session about Jane’s attitude toward vacations, chores, etc., being a waste of time since these things took her away from her work.)

(We have been recently planning that I am to leave my job at Artistic at the end of January, and take at least a year to paint, etc., after a month’s trip to Florida in February. [...]

[...] But I still wouldn’t adopt physical ailment, etc.)

(Our landlord’s wife, Marian Spaziani, visited us this evening, and told us tales of the people who call her with long histories of their own illnesses, etc. These episodes have begun to leave Marian herself in a nervous state, etc.)

(A note: Miss Callahan was taken to a home for the elderly a few weeks ago, and has given up her apartment in this house, etc. [...]

[...] The stub contains the amount of the check, tax deductions, the date, etc.

[...] Seth suggested that Jane or Sue Watkins could transcribe the notes, etc., while I commented that it would be quite a job, etc.)

[...] She discussed various recent attitudes, ideas and actions, etc., and became somewhat excited talking about them. [...]

[...] This is a humorous reference to my putting a new seat in Jane’s favorite Kennedy rocker—her session chair, etc.

[...] It’s far better to think in terms of power than of lacks — the power of life, of motion, of speech, etc. [...]

(And: “A chapter on a person’s ‘Effective Personal Reality’ — about the private purposes in one’s life, and the bounds of creaturehood as set by your body; what you choose to be born with as far as health, disease, poverty or wealth, ability, etc., are concerned.”

(“Last night I also felt that Seth’s Appendix — if there is one — could deal with notes on particular chapters; methods of using natural hypnosis in certain cases; work on beliefs, etc.”)

[...] Jane said that as she held the envelope to her head she did not hear anything move within; nor did she shake the envelope, etc.

[...] More development on the above data, the loose pepper could assume cloudlike shapes with the envelope, etc.

[...] On it were the words “Pure Ground Black Pepper," etc., pebbles and ground being related.

[...] [Hiding it in the studio while my eyes were closed, etc.] Yet when Seth, through Jane, gave the test results, much accurate data was given concerning the full page that lay in the back room, as well as the actual small envelope object in Jane’s hand during the session. [...]

(Pause, one of many short ones, etc.) Now I was teaching him, and I went along with his natural interests and inclinations. [...]

(There were questions, but it seemed the above data would give Jane what information she needed for her book, etc.

[...] I’d say that I could use my abilities far more fully even in those areas already being explored—Seth, the library, Sumari, etc., even if I wanted to leave other areas alone (seances, etc.). [...]

[...] It was as though she had passed through some great experience in triumph, she said, and would not be called upon to repeat it—all the travail, etc., involved.

[...] The gist of these seemed to be that the dream book, its struggles in creation, etc., was involved, and that it was to be accepted, finally, by Ace. [...]

(“Why is it that in cases of specific information, such as names, dates, places, etc., you [or Jane or Ruburt] will often delay giving the answer. [...]

[...] This work, just beginning, gave rise to the idea for a Seth Reader, etc.)

[...] The call nicely pointed up the material for the session given above, re making it known to others, etc; the call was from a prospective ESP class member.
