(A note added the next morning: I was especially pleased to hear Seth talk of redemption, for that’s one of the main themes I tried to explore in the essays for Dreams—redemption on many levels, even though we may not grasp what’s transpiring on a number of those levels. [...]

Your dream about the return to Sayre, and the more spacious surroundings, means also that as you now change the past and the future, so you have changed the past: you view it in a more extended light, so that it becomes less narrow and constricting. [...]

(Class had been discussing dream realities, personality, etc., for about an hour; Pat and Sheila began talking back and forth on Sheila’s ideas on separate personalities, when Jane interrupted to say that she had the impression that the “hole in the universe” had opened up in Dr. Sam Levine’s house next-door and a crowd of people were flying from it into the room. [...]

[...] “The whole body is trying to move,” I said, “as though you’re trying to move it in a dream.” [...]

There are also perfectly healthy, normal children who have determined ahead of time that they will live only to the threshold of adulthood, happy and flushed with dreams and promises of accomplishment, yet not experiencing any disillusionment or regret or sorrow. [...]
