“Seth material” search engine (Jane Roberts)

(Jane had requested that Seth communicate with her during a dream, and that she remember the dream. Next morning however she could only recall that such a dream had taken place; no details appeared.)

(As instructed, I gave myself suggestions for dream-projection recall, though I was tired. [...]

As Seth I’ve produced five previous books: Seth Speaks; The Nature of Personal Reality; The “Unknown” Reality, Volumes I and II; The Nature of the Psyche; and The Individual and the Nature of Mass Events, and Seth is halfway through a sixth book: Dreams, “Evolution,” and Value Fulfillment. [...]

[...] I asked for some ideas from my “natural spontaneous self,” and on August 5, 1980, I dreamed that a moving van with me in it was itself being moved by a larger vehicle ahead of some planned time. [...]

So on August 6th I sat in the patio-room with fresh paper, fresh typewriter cartridge, and hopefully fresh mind, looking over my interpretations of Rob’s latest dreams. [...]

[...] My hunch is that because of my state of mind — interpreting Rob’s dreams, and my reading of his notes, I was in a particular kind of correspondence with him, or with his state of mind, that facilitated the inner communication. [...]

Pretend that you have seven dreams at once, and you the dreamer know that you are dreaming. Within each dream 100 earthly years may pass—but to you the dreamer no time has passed, and there is no time to pass, for you are free of the dimension in which time exists. The time you seem to spend within the dream, within each life, is only an illusion, and to the inner self no moment has passed, and to the inner self there is no time.

[...] The pendulum told me I was fretting about losing time on Dreams.

[...] I had no interruptions this morning while working on Dreams — it seemed strange. [...]

[...] In the experience the kitten was in the hospital room, and there seemed to be adjoining rooms, as at 458 (the address of the apartment house we’d lived in on W. Water Street). This signified that Ruburt was building up similarities between present and past experience, so that the kitten, appearing in the dream’s present and past also, would indeed appear in the future.

[...] Again in your dreams, if you are quick enough to catch them, (to Janice) you will find some surprises and also over here (to Gert) and in your feelings, not intellectualized feelings, but in your feelings in the relationships set up this evening with the three of you, there are some hints for you, so see that you discover what they are. [...]

I bid you all good evening and you should be a lot smarter next week than you are this evening for there should be some interesting Sumari dialogue going on in your dreams. [...]

[...] It’s quite frustrating that we have no room in Dreams for such interesting information. [...]

[...] Because of her concentration on that hook she hasn’t done much on her book of poetry, If We Live Again, since late February; and as I mentioned in the Preface for Dreams, she laid aside her third Seven novel, Oversoul Seven and the Museum of Time, in May 1979 when she began God of Jane. [...]

Today Jane reread her recent sessions for Dreams; she wanted to resume work on the book tonight, and picked up on it from Seth throughout the day. [...]

To some extent that emotional reality is also expressed at other levels—as your own is—in periods of dreaming, in which animals, like men, participate in a vast cooperative venture that helps to form the psychological atmosphere in which your lives must first of all exist.

[...] And do not be so knuckle-headed when you are dreaming. [...]

It is all right to be knuckleheaded when you are awake, but when you are dreaming, you should allow yourself more freedom—remember your love of color. [...]

([Laurie:] “Are dreams a step towards the automatic paintings?”)

[...] Now, do not be worried about the dreams in which you appear as a male. We will get to all of your dreams in our class sessions, this was simply a particular point I wanted to make to you. [...]

[...] Now when you are quieted and when you are in the dream state or when you are doing psychological time then you free yourself from the three-dimensional system and allow your consciousness to recognize other portions of its own reality. [...]

[...] Very simply, delta brain waves are connected with dreamless sleep, theta with creativity and dreams, alpha with a relaxed alertness and changing consciousness; beta — the fastest — with concentration, and with an intense focus upon all of the challenges [and anxieties and stresses, many would say] faced in the ordinary daily world.

[...] In a way this is like an accelerated, chosen, well-organized “conscious” dream venture, in which Ruburt travels through mediums of consciousness until finally he, still being himself, is nevertheless no longer himself (humorously), but me.

[...] You would follow your own pattern of continuity and understanding, weaving this into the sleep and dream states, forming a “new” pattern that triumphantly combines all, as to some extent this occurs in our sessions.

JANE’S DREAM

(One week later, in class of January 21, Sue told of a recurring dream which she had for some years—a dream in which she had stood in a field of wheat or cornfield was afire and she feared for the safety of the village.)

(10:22.) Now Seth came through with some material for Jane and me, including his interpretations — in his usual acute manner — of three of my recent dreams. [...]

[...] This had even showed up in one of my dreams. The dream contest simply represented seeing which of us could remember the most dreams within a week. I won by one dream according to Jane.

Your dream contest idea is excellent. [...]

(I’d brought in Chapter 6 of Dreams, which I’d finished typing this morning, and ended up reading the whole thing to Jane except for a couple of notes. [...] I told her at the end of the day that the Seth material is an excellent example of her own direct cognition; this obvious description had come to me after I worked with Seth’s material on direct cognition in Chapter 6 of Dreams. [...]

The physical world is dependent upon the relationship of everything from electrons to molecules, to mountains and oceans, from cultural organizations to private dreams, and in the scheme of reality these are all interwoven with exquisite order, spontaneity, and a logic beyond any with which you are familiar.

[...] Such communication takes place constantly, and for men and animals it is particularly apt to in the dream state. [...]

[...] Some dreams he has forgotten have already begun to acquaint him with new developments. [...]

[...] Now, in dreams you may have the feeling of experiencing many hours or even days. [...] If, in a dream, you experience a period of three days, physically you do not age for these days. [...]

Psychological time is so a part of inner reality that even though the inner self is still connected to the body, you are, in the dream framework, free of some very important physical effects. Now, as dreams seem to involve you in duration that is independent of clock time, so can you achieve the actual experience of duration as far as your inner visions are concerned.

It was invented by the ego to protect the ego, because of the mistaken conception of dual existence; that is, because man felt that a predictable, conscious self did the thinking and manipulating, and an unpredictable self did the breathing and dreaming. [...]

[...] As you can experience days or hours within its framework in the dream state and not age for the comparable amount of physical time, so as you develop, you will be able to rest and be refreshed within psychological time even when you are awake. [...]

[...] Ruburt had several dreams concerning Miss Price, also a therapeutic dream last evening that he did not remember. During this period he did not remember his dreams because he purposely closed subconscious channels.

There was a slight stroke on the left side several months ago with Miss Price, and Ruburt knew of this in a dream. [...]

[...] I’m back working on the chronology for Seth’s latest book, Dreams, and have been doing some paintings involving my own dreams. Jane has done excellent work interpreting the dreams; some of my nighttime excursions have resulted from these sessions on the magical approach.

(Now to my surprise, Seth answered a question or two I’d asked Jane earlier today to relay to Sue Watkins — material I could use in my chronology for Dreams. [...]

[...] They have asked her to do a book on Seth, dreams, and reincarnation.

The next chapter will deal with the eternal validity of dreams as gateways into these other realities, and as open areas through which the inner self glimpses the many facets of its experience, and communicates with other levels of its reality.

The next chapter will deal further with this subject, as I relate the various ways that I have entered the dreams of others, both as an instructor and as a guide. [...]

[...] Now tell Ruburt that this book will in no way interfere with his own writing, neither with the Seth dream book, his novel, nor the poetry which he shall shortly begin again. [...]
